Four starting pitchers with good matchups on Wednesday who are widely available in fantasy leagues.
Let's jump right in today and look at four starting pitchers in action on Wednesday who are widely available in fantasy leagues and have good matchups.
Most stats are from MLB.com, as are the probable pitchers. The full streamer rankings are listed at the bottom.

Dean Kremer, Minnesota Twins vs. Detroit Tigers
Kremer has mixed good and bad starts in his five outings with the Twins, three times allowing two or fewer runs but giving up four or more runs in the other two games. His overall numbers in Minnesota average out to something right in the middle, matching what Kremer has done in his career. Like the reliable neighbor who comes over often to ruffle through your refrigerator, you can count on Kremer to generally be something like an average pitcher, worthy of considering when the matchup is right.
The Tigers got themselves back into the playoff race after a slow start to the season, but they went right back the wrong direction, losing six straight games in mid-to-late August and 15 of their past 19 heading into Wednesday (including a 15-2 drubbing at the hands of the Twins yesterday). They have struggled offensively over the past month, ranking in the bottom 10 in most categories in that timeframe. Detroit is seven back in the wild card race, and that window is closing quickly, as they have to jump six teams in front of them to reach the final playoff spot. Selling at the trade deadline didn't do them any favors.
Kremer is a mid-level streamer today. Detroit is in a bit of a tailspin, and Kremer is reliable enough to bring a little intrigue, especially as he strikes batters out around an average clip.
Jacob Lopez, Athletics @ Texas Rangers
Texas has proven to be at least middling offensively at times this season, but they have had too many weak stretches to really trust them to succeed with the bats, and that has them outside the playoff picture looking in despite playing in the worst division in baseball. The Rangers are especially bad at home, as they play in one of the best pitcher's parks around. When looking just at games that teams have played in their home park, Texas ranks in the bottom five (or very close to it) in runs, hits, doubles, walks, and on-base percentage. This is a team to target when they are playing in Arlington.
Lopez has been a little below average this season, giving up a few too many runs and home runs while showing control issues that have plagued him throughout his short career (214 1/3 innings). He strikes batters out at a decent rate, which helps his cause, but reeling in his walk rate (11.3% versus league average around 8-9%) would make a real difference. Lopez has been doing well lately, allowing two runs or fewer in each of his past eight starts; that gives him a better fantasy outlook than his season-long numbers might indicate.
Lopez is a low-to-mid-level streamer. His recent work and strikeout rate could help make the argument that he should be a half-notch higher, but Lopez can still get into trouble when his control leaves him, so we'll show a little restraint here.
Casey Mize, San Diego Padres @ Cincinnati Reds
Mize is owned in around 50% of leagues and pushes the limits as a streamer, but there's still enough availability to make it worth taking a look to see if you can pick him up. He has had one good start and one decent start since moving to San Diego at the trade deadline, but the other three outings were rough, as he combined to allow 19 runs in 11 innings (though five of those runs were unearned). Mize has been very effective over the full season, doing well limiting hits, runs, and home runs while doing good BB work and average K work; he is likely to improve in San Diego and is worth consideration here.
I'm getting tired of saying the same old thing, but the story with Cincinnati really is that they draw walks and hit home runs but don't do anything else at even an average level. They rank in the bottom five in hits, doubles, batting average, on-base percentage, and nearly OPS, and they strike out as often as any team in baseball. Those Ks set a high ceiling for our opposing pitchers, and with so many lowly numbers, it's worth targeting the Reds pretty much every day.
Mize is a mid-level streamer. His numbers over a longer timeframe are much better, and he has the pedigree to prove that he can find that touch again. With a strong matchup, Mize is in line for a possible bounce back here.
Patrick Sandoval, Boston Red Sox vs. Seattle Mariners
The Mariners have been one of our favorite streaming targets for an extended stretch. They rank in the bottom five in runs, hits, doubles, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS. Seattle also strikes out at a top-10 rate, setting a nice ceiling for opposing pitchers. They hit for a little power, but the Mariners have otherwise struggled hard on offense all season, and they have kept up those woeful ways recently, possibly squandering a great chance to make the postseason in a weak division.
Sandoval missed all of 2025 and didn't make his debut until July 9 while recovering from elbow surgery. He has shown flashes this season but also been inconsistent, striking batters out at a decent rate while also walking too many (something that has been a career-long problem). Sandoval is only 45 innings into his return, so we are likely to see more up-and-down results, making him an intriguing fantasy player who also brings plenty of risk. The matchup today makes him worth considering for your lineup.
Sandoval is a low-to-mid-level streamer. I like his upside, but it's tough to trust Sandoval right now, though he has given up just three runs in 11 innings over his past two starts.
