Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: 4 Rising Hitters to Grab Now
Looking for offensive help? These four hitters are gaining momentum and deserve fantasy attention before the weekend.
It's time for our fourth look at fantasy baseball waiver wire hitters this week.
Here are waiver wire articles we did on hitters on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Also be sure to check out Thursday's starting pitcher streaming article.
Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Gleyber Torres - Detroit Tigers
Torres is back on the rise after missing time because of an injury. He's sitting at 55% rostered right now - he was at about 50% three days ago.
He missed a month of play, but has hit well in his two games back. Torres had a home run in his first game back, and then doubled among his three knocks on Wednesday.
Tories has a .272 average and .396 on-base percentage over 34 games and 154 plate appearances on the season now. He has 34 total knocks, including three doubles and home runs. Torres also has 12 RBIs, 22 runs scored, 26 walks and 23 strikeouts.
The second baseman has delivered pretty well when healthy this season. He's at a position that's a bit tougher to find consistent fantasy value at, and him being injured for a month has his own percentage way lower than it should be.
Take advantage of that and add Torres for free today. He's someone to add in all deeper leagues, and even some standard leagues, especially if you need help at second base or in the infield.
Noelvi Marte - Cincinnati Reds
Marte has risen 4.33% so far today, and he sits at 26.1% overall now.
Marte was called back up to the big leagues on Wednesday. He didn't start in his first game back, but he did pinch hit. Marte walked in that plate appearance.
In his 40 games and 176 plate appearances in Triple-A after being sent down, Marte had a .369 average and .409 OBP, so fantasy owners are hoping he can find more success in the big leagues. He has a .138 average and .219 OBP over 12 games and 32 plate appearances in the majors this year.
He's had more success in the past, so hopefully he can find his way in the big leagues again. Marte needs to be starting and playing daily to have fantasy value though, so until that happens, Marte is not worth adding.
Once he's playing and producing a bit, he can be picked up and utilized in some deeper leagues. He'll need to keep delivering at the plate to get into all deeper leagues and possibly some standard leagues down the line.
Nick Gonzales - Pittsburgh Pirates
Gonzales has been added in 1.62% of leagues so far today, and he's up to 22.03% overall.
He is riding a five-game hitting streak right now, and he has 10 knocks over that span. Gonzales has three extra-base hits in that span, and all over the past three contests.
Gonzales has a .314 average and .367 OBP over 56 games and 226 plate appearances this season. He has 65 combined hits, including 10 doubles and two home runs. Gonzales has 29 RBIs, 31 runs scored, three stolen bases, 15 walks and 38 strikeouts.
The primary third baseman this season has also played second base and shortstop. If he's eligible at all three spots, then his fantasy value is pretty solid.
Gonzales is flying under the radar a bit, but he is a good deep-league asset, especially when he's hitting well. I'd be happy to add him in those leagues today.
I think the Pirates' infielder will top out as a deep-league fantasy asset, but if he keeps hitting, Gonzales could sneak into standard leagues eventually, so keep tabs on him.
Brandon Marsh - Philadelphia Phillies
Marsh is rostered in roughly 50% of leagues right now. He's slightly rising of late, after bottoming out near 48% of late.
Marsh has six hits over his past two games played. The hits are all singles, and he doesn't have an RBI or run scored in those games, so his team is letting him down a bit. Still, all the hits are good for his fantasy production.
Across 56 games and 211 plate appearances this season, Marsh has a .335 average and .365 OBP. He has 10 doubles, five homers and two triples among his 66 total knocks. Marsh has 24 RBIs, 29 runs scored, five stolen bases, 10 walks and 47 strikeouts.
There's a lot of good numbers in there, even if his run production isn't anything crazy. Him being an outfielder holds his fantasy ownership mark back some too.
Marsh is a very good deep-league fantasy asset right now, and he could also be utilized in standard leagues now. At least do it until his bat cools off a little bit.
