Trade Away These Fantasy Baseball Overperformers Before Regression Hits

From breakout hitters to unexpected pitching standouts, these fantasy assets may be peaking in value heading into the heart of the season.

Let's turn our fantasy baseball attention to some more trade options.

I want to pick out several players who have overperformed to this point of the year, but could regress in time. They are essentially sell-high trade candidates.

Use the FantasySP trade value chart and trade analyzer as you propose and accept fantasy baseball trades all season!

Miguel Vargas - Chicago White Sox

Vargas has been one of the top fantasy baseball hitters so far this season.

He has a .241 average and .364 on-base percentage, which is above his career .211 average and .307 OBP. Vargas has 52 hits so far, including 15 home runs and 10 doubles. His career high in homers is 16, so he's definitely broke out to start 2026.

In time, regression could hit, so I like selling high on Vargas before he starts to fall off. Make the move involving the corner infielder while he's excelling at the plate and before he regresses closer to his career averages.

Braxton Ashcraft - Pittsburgh Pirates

Ashcraft has been really good so far in 2026, and I think it's worth maybe selling high on him.

Over 12 starts, he is 5-2 with a 2.77 earned run average. Over 74 2/3 innings, he's allowed 26 runs (23 earned) on 60 hits and 17 walks, while striking out 81 batters.

Ashcraft did well in the big leagues in 2025, but that was mostly as a reliever. I could see him regressing in time, so at least consider selling Ashcraft high before that hits.

He's pitched really well of late, so take advantage of his upped value and sell him high.

Andy Pages - Los Angeles Angels

Pages has been one of the top fantasy players on the Dodgers, despite not being a big, big name.

So far this season, Pages has a .293 average and .339 OBP. He has 14 doubles and 13 home runs among his 67 total hits. Pages has 51 RBIs, 36 runs scored, 16 walks, seven stolen bases and 47 strikeouts.

Pages has a .268 average and .315 OBP over his career, so some regression is likely coming. Being he's at a stacked fantasy outfield spot, I like the idea of selling Pages high. He could get you a really nice return, and get you help at a position of need, so at least consider it.

Davis Martin - Chicago White Sox

Martin has been one of the biggest fantasy surprises so far this season, but a poor start on Tuesday has him trending down.

He still has a 2.61 ERA over 12 starts. Martin is 8-2 and has allowed 21 runs on 63 hits and 17 walks over 72 1/3 innings. He's struck out 73 batters along the way.

Martin has a career 3.95 ERA, so regression was always coming. He has already started trending down, but he's still a sell-high candidate in my eyes. Do the trade before it's too late.

Liam Hicks - Miami Marlins

Hicks has been another big-time fantasy surprise this season. That makes him a sell-high trade candidate right now.

He has a .269 average and .348 OBP so far this season. Hicks has 12 homers and five doubles among his 53 total hits, plus 46 RBIs, 30 runs scored, 22 walks, a stolen base and 21 strikeouts.

The catcher also should have first base eligibility, along with catcher eligibility, which ups his fantasy value. Hicks has regressed since his hot start to the year, so he won't net you a very good return. But being eligible at two positions, with one being catcher, I like the idea of trying to sell Hicks high yet.

Emerson Hancock - Seattle Mariners

Hancock has been awesome this season, and has been way better than he has over his career, so that makes him a sell-high candidate.

He has a 2.80 ERA over 12 starts. Hancock is 4-2 and has 70 strikeouts over 70 2/3 innings. He's allowed 22 runs on 52 hits and 15 walks.

Hancock has a 4.20 ERA over his career, and has topped out at 90 innings, so some regression is due, and he could hit a wall as the season rolls along. I'd look to sell him away high before any of that hits.

Jordan Walker - St. Louis Cardinals

Walker was a high-end fantasy asset early this season, and he still sits pretty well overall. He's regressed some of late, so he's lost value, but I think he's still worth trying to sell high.

He has a .283 average and .348 OBP this season, and a .248 average and .311 OBP for his career. Walker has 15 homers, 11 doubles, 63 total hits, 44 RBIs, 39 runs scored, 21 walks, seven stolen bases and 65 strikeouts.

Walker was due for some regression, and it's already started some. So his value is a bit lower than it was earlier in the season, but I still think a lot of fantasy owners would be willing to trade for him. See what Walker might get you in return, and try to strengthen your team overall.

Michael Wacha - Kansas City Royals

Wacha started his 2026 season well, but he's trending down after a poor start his last time out. I still think you could sell him high.

In 12 starts so far, Wacha is 4-3 with a 3.23 ERA. He has pitched 75 1/3 innings, allowing 28 runs (17 earned) on 58 hits and 26 walks. Wacha has struck out 65 batters so far.

Wacha is a veteran who can be trusted, and while he's not a high-end option or name, a lot of fantasy owners would benefit from rostering Wacha. See what he could net you in a trade, and make the move if you get a solid deal for him.

Christian Walker - Houston Astros

Walker has bounced back from a down 2025 season, and is a sell-high candidate as a result.

He has a .248 average and .321 OBP so far this season. Walker has 16 homers, 10 doubles and 56 total hits. He has 44 RBIs, 36 runs scored, 21 walks and 51 strikeouts.

Walker has regressed since a very hot start, and has struggled over the past month or so. He's at a loaded fantasy spot, so even though he might not net you a monster return, I'd still look to deal him away, as it could help your fantasy team more in the long run.
