Buy Low on These Fantasy Baseball Stars Before They Rebound

As promised, let's turn our attention to fantasy baseball players who you could buy low on.

We are using the FantasySP Trade Value Chart to identify several players. We did the same for sell-high fantasy assets. 

Let's dive into the buy-low article. I'll skip any injured players, although there's a bunch of players who recently hit the injured list who you could buy low on right now.

Kyle Tucker - Los Angeles Dodgers

He had three hits a couple games ago, but those are the only hits he's posted over the past five appearances he's made.

Tucker is down to a .249 average and .347 on-base percentage over 47 games and 202 plate appearances. He has 13 doubles and four home runs among his 42 total knocks. Tucker has 23 RBIs, 32 runs scored, four stolen bases, 26 walks and 39 strikeouts.

Tucker hasn't lived up to his high-end draft value early in the season, and a recent cold stretch makes him even less valuable in fantasy leagues. If there were ever a time to pounce and trade for Tucker, now is a pretty good option.

You will still be paying a decent amount, but you can get a borderline first-round pick for a lot less than that, especially because he's an outfielder. Look into acquiring Tucker before he heats up.

Mike Trout - Los Angeles Angels

Trout homered in his last game, but has just two hits over his past six games.

He's down to a .235 average, but has a .398 OBP over 48 games and 216 plate appearances. Trout has 40 hits, including 12 home runs and seven doubles. He has 25 RBIs, 34 runs scored, five stolen bases, 43 walks and 53 strikeouts.

Trout has injury concerns as well, so he's a buy-low trade option if you want to take a little risk. The asking price might be pretty reasonable, and if Trout stays healthy all season, he could definitely be a worthwhile pickup for you.

Just know the risk you are taking on if you are trading for Trout. He's still doing enough, it's just a low average that is holding him back from being an elite option right now.

George Kirby - Seattle Mariners

He was tagged for six runs on six hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings in his last start. 

He's otherwise been pretty good this season, but following blowup starts is the best time to target high-end fantasy pitchers like Kirby. He's 5-3 with a 3.45 earned run average over 10 starts this season. He's allowed 24 runs on 58 hits and 16 walks, while striking out 52 along the way.

You could probably acquire Kirby for pretty cheap right now. I think he's worth targeting, as better days are ahead. Do it before Kirby starts delivering better starts.

Andy Pages - Los Angeles Dodgers

Pages went hitless in his last game, but had a four-game hitting streak before that. He was hitless in the four games before that, so he's been a bit up and down of late.

Pages has a .294 average and .343 OBP over 49 games and 198 plate appearances this season, which are still very good marks. He has 10 homers and eight doubles among his 53 total knocks, plus 42 RBIs, 27 runs scored, six stolen bases, 13 walks and 40 strikeouts.

The fantasy outfielder was a sell-high trade option earlier this year, and now I think is a time to possibly buy low on him. He likely won't cost too much, and while even more regression could be coming, adding a high-end fantasy hitter at any point in the season is never a bad idea.

Look into adding Pages now. Definitely go after him if his bat stays pretty cold.

Logan Gilbert - Seattle Mariners

Gilbert allowed seven runs on five hits and two walks over 6 2/3 innings in his last outing. He gave up three home runs, and has allowed seven bombs over his past three outings.

It's a time to buy the high-end fantasy pitcher a bit lower. Gilbert has started the year a bit slow, as he has a 4.45 ERA over 10 starts.

Gilbert has allowed 28 runs on 53 hits and 12 walks. He's struck out 57 batters and sits with a 2-4 record.

Better days are ahead for Gilbert, so I like acquiring him now. His asking price might be pretty reasonable, so I'd at least inquire about trading for him.

Freddy Peralta - New York Mets

Peralta has allowed three or less runs in all but one of his 10 starts this season, but shorter starts and up-and-down strikeout numbers are forcing his fantasy value to drop.

Peralta is 3-3 with a 3.31 ERA so far, but is at just 54 1/3 innings - so just over five innings per start on average. He's allowed 22 runs (20 earned) on 43 hits and 25 walks. Peralta has struck out 54 batters.

There's some fantasy shortcomings with Peralta, but there's also reasons to add him, including a respectable ERA and solid K marks. I'd at least inquire about him.

There's a decent chance Peralta is traded away at the deadline, and if he joins a better team, his fantasy outlook would improve a decent bit. That's another reason to buy into Peralta now, while his value is still lower.
