6 Fantasy Baseball Players to Sell High Before Value Peaks

Corbin Carroll - Arizona Diamondbacks

Carroll was a high-end fantasy draft pick, but is rising of late after hot hitting at the plate.

He's on an eight-game hitting streak, and has homered in each of his past two games. Carroll now has a .285 average and .395 on-base percentage over 45 games and 190 plate appearances on the season.

Carroll has 45 total hits, including 11 doubles, seven home runs and six triples. He has 24 RBIs, 33 runs scored, six stolen bases, 28 walks and 43 strikeouts.

The fantasy outfielder can be a top-end fantasy hitter when he's going right at the plate, and that's the case right now. Carroll is always a valuable fantasy piece, but he's still one you could sell high on now after his hot hitting of late.

Outfielders are everywhere, so you could use Carroll to land a player at a position of need, or land a couple starting options to increase your team's depth and long-term outlook. If there were ever a time to sell high on Carroll, now is that time.

Jacob Misiorowski - Milwaukee Brewers

The Miz has been on a heater of late on the mound, and he's showing high-end fantasy value.

He has been unscored upon in four straight starts, and has at least eight strikeouts in all those outings. Misiorowski has worked at least six innings in three straight games and really seems to be settling in as a big league pitcher now.

In 10 starts so far this season, Misiorowski is 4-2 with a 1.89 earned run average over 57 innings. He has allowed 14 runs (12 earned) on 32 hits and 18 walks, while striking out 88 batters already.

He's one of the best fantasy pitchers in the game right now, and most will just want to hold him and enjoy his fantasy success. Again though, if your fantasy team needs help elsewhere, maybe moving Miz could improve your team and your title chances down the line.

I'd be interested to at least see the trade offers that floated in for Misiorowski, and there might be a couple deals that are simply too good to pass on.

Michael King - San Diego Padres

King is trending up as well, after allowing one run or less in three straight starts.

He is 4-2 with a 2.31 ERA over 10 starts overall. King has allowed 16 runs (15 earned) on 38 hits and 24 walks, while striking out 59 batters.

He is still susceptible to the so-so outing, but he's been above average more often than not so far this season. King won't cost an arm and a leg to acquire, so look into adding him.

For those who roster him now, it's a time to possibly sell high. I'd probably only do that if my fantasy team was still struggling, even with King's recent strong pitching. Flipping him for a player or two at positions of need might be better than enjoying his success this season.

James Wood - Washington Nationals

He has back-to-back three-hit games, and is on a five-game hitting streak overall. Wood is up to a .259 average and .399 OBP over 49 games and 233 plate appearances this season.

He has 49 total hits, including 13 doubles and home runs. Wood also has 43 runs scored, 34 RBIs, seven stolen bases, 40 walks and 71 strikeouts.

Wood still strikes out too much, but he makes up for those, and then some, so he's a high-end fantasy option. Again though, if your team is struggling, selling him high could benefit your team in the long run.

Wood is part of the loaded fantasy outfield position, and you could get an elite player at a position of need, or a couple of startable options if you are lacking depth. Don't write off trading Wood away just because he's been a high-end fantasy asset.

Nick Kurtz - Athletics

Kurtz had three hits and five RBIs on Tuesday, and had a hit in the game before that as well. He's up to a .276 average and .431 OBP on the season.

In 47 games and across 216 plate appearances, Kurtz has 47 total hits, including 10 doubles, eight homers and one triple. He has 34 RBIs, 31 runs scored, six stolen bases, 44 walks and 63 strikeouts.

Kurtz is like Wood in a lot of ways, but he plays first base instead. That's another loaded fantasy spot.

If you have another solid fantasy 1B option, then selling high on Kurtz makes some sense. The return should be big, and it could benefit your team more in the long run to distribute your fantasy talent elsewhere, so consider selling Kurtz high.

Chase Burns - Cincinnati Reds

Burns has been good for about a month straight now. He's excelled of late especially, allowing one or less run in all four of his starts in May.

Burns has made 10 starts this season, and he sits with a 6-1 record and 1.83 ERA so far. He's allowed 12 runs on 38 hits and 18 walks over 59 innings. Burns has struck out 64 batters so far.

There's a lot to like with Burns, and the sky could be the limit, but he's definitely exceeding his preseason expectations. If you believe in him in the long run, then simply hold and utilize him.

If you see regression coming (you should see a bit), then consider selling Burns high. He could land you a more proven fantasy arm, or maybe a player or two at positions of need. Only move Burns if you are thrilled with the return, as he's been stellar this season.
