Wednesday Fantasy Baseball Streaming Pitcher Rankings: Joey Cantillo Leads the Way
Five starting pitchers with good matchups on Wednesday who are widely available in fantasy leagues.
Wednesday; it's kind of the streamer of the days of the week. When you have Friday off, Wednesday can operate as an exciting day toward the end, knowing you only have one more workday before a long weekend. On the other side, if you're in the midst of a grueling week, the beginning of the day can feel just as bad as Monday or Tuesday, leaving it as something of a wild card.
Moving to fantasy baseball, let's look at five starting pitchers in action on Wednesday who are widely available in fantasy leagues and have good matchups. Most stats are from MLB.com, as are the probable starters. The full streamer rankings are listed at the bottom.

Joey Cantillo, Cleveland Guardians @ Kansas City Royals
Cantillo only has 168 1/3 career innings to his name, but he has been good in that time, showing high-level strikeout work while walking too many batters. He has done well limiting hits and home runs, so putting runners on base is really the only thing holding him back, and Cantillo's ERA is under 4.00 both in his career and this season. There's fantasy value here.
Kansas City was way down after an eight-game losing streak in mid-April, but they have bounced back with nine wins in their past 11 games, seeing both their record and run differential move back toward the middle. They are still worse than average in many offensive box stats, but the Royals are much closer to that middling mark than the bottom, putting their status as a streaming target in question.
Cantillo is a mid-level streamer. I like his upside, but the walks are a real issue, and Kansas City's improved performance lowers the ceiling and floor here a little bit.
Colin Rea, Chicago Cubs vs. Cincinnati Reds
Cincinnati has gone the opposite of Kansas City recently, starting off hot but losing four straight and six of eight before Tuesday. The offense has been struggling all season, even when the team was winning; they rank in the bottom 10 in runs, hits, doubles, batting average, on-base percentage, and OPS while striking out at a top-10 rate. This team is vulnerable to opposing pitchers.
Rea started the season in long relief, but the Cubs have suffered multiple pitcher injuries, pushing him back into the starting rotation. He was a below-average strikeout pitcher the past two seasons working mostly as a starter, but he is up to an average level so far this year while continuing his good BB rate. Rea is generally right around average with giving up hits and homers and has continued that work in 2026, making him a fine pitcher in both real and fantasy baseball.
Rea is a low-to-mid-level streamer. I'm a little skeptical that his strikeout rate will remain so high, but Rea has been a welcomed positive performer for an ailing Cubs team, and he has some fantasy value because of it.
Jeffrey Springs, Athletics @ Philadelphia Phillies
Springs left his previous start with soreness in his hip, but he is expected to make this start with no problem (though it leaves just a little concern). Springs has been on the better side of average with both strikeouts and walks this season after being a little down with Ks last year. He is good at limiting hits but a little susceptible to homers, though he hasn't been awful in that area. Springs is worthy of consideration when the matchup is right.
The Phillies are one of the biggest disappointments of the early season, within a few games of the worst record in the league and near the worst run differential in baseball (though they won 9-1 yesterday). Only a few guys are really performing, and while we can expect more success given some of the names in the lineup, that hasn't shown up yet in 2026, leaving them among our target teams.
Springs is a mid-level streamer. The matchup is right based on this year's numbers, and I'm going to keep targeting Philly when things line up. Springs does enough to be worth your attention in many games.
Matt Waldron, San Diego Padres @ San Francisco Giants
Adrian Houser, San Francisco Giants vs. San Diego Padres
We'll finish today with a game in which we can target both teams with streaming pitchers, two NL West foes with inverse records through the first 35-ish games. While the Padres have been able to overcome their weaker offense (which is better than San Francisco's), the Giants have seen their power and run-scoring fall well behind most of the league, sitting in last place in both runs and home runs. Both teams need more out of their offenses to have a real chance at contending in the division, let alone the league.
Waldron didn't make his season debut until after the middle of April and has had a rough go of it in three starts: 13 2/3 innings, 22 hits, 15 runs, three home runs, five walks, and just eight strikeouts. His career walk rate is good, but he is a below-average strikeout pitcher, and his numbers so far bring too much worry to give him real fantasy value right now.
Houser has similarly struggled to start 2026: 30 1/3 innings, 43 hits, 27 runs (24 earned), six homers, 10 walks, and 16 strikeouts. Like Waldron, Houser's walk rate is fine, but everything else is far worse than average, leaving him without much fantasy value. Houser had a run of success with the White Sox last season, but that was buoyed by great matchups and turned the other way after he was traded to Tampa Bay at the deadline.
Waldron and Houser are both low-level streamers today. I wish I had better news from this duo, but there just hasn't been any level of success that could lead us to hoping for good things here. Waldron gets the slight advantage because he has the better matchup.
