The middle of the work week is here, which means it's time for our third fantasy baseball waiver wire/streaming story of the week!

Here are stories we did on Monday and Tuesday. I have seven players I want to discuss today, so let's get right to it!

Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!

Jose Fernandez - Arizona Diamondbacks

Fernandez is rostered in about 4% of fantasy baseball leagues right now. He was just called up, so he was unowned before that.

Fernandez, the D-Backs' No. 27 prospect, made his MLB debut on Tuesday, and was it ever a special one. Across four plate appearances, he had three hits, including two home runs. Fernandez had four RBIs, two runs scored and one strikeout.

He hit sixth in his debut, and played third base. The Arizona lineup is good enough to make any starter a good fantasy asset, and Fernandez showed that on Tuesday.

He's not going to deliver at that pace the whole season, but there's a chance he emerges as a daily option in Arizona, which in turn could make him a good fantasy asset.

He's already worth adding in some deeper leagues today, and he'll only continue to rise if he keeps producing.

I'm curious to see how Arizona gets him in the lineup, as Nolan Arenado is the regular third baseman. Gabriel Moreno was the designated hitter last night, so when he moves back to catcher, there's room for Arenado and Fernandez in the lineup.

Keep tabs on Fernandez, but don't add him in all leagues until we see more production and what his role will be over the course of a week.

Noah Cameron - Kansas City Royals

Cameron is rostered in 48% of leagues as he prepares for his first start of the 2026 season.

He will be facing the Twins on Wednesday evening. That's a pretty good matchup on paper, so I get why he's being added today.

He is coming off a solid rookie campaign in 2025 as well. Over 24 starts, Cameron had a 9-7 record and 2.99 earned run average. He struck out 114 batters over 138 1/3 innings.

There's plenty to like with Cameron, and we'll see if he's able to improve as a fantasy asset in 2026. I like streaming him in all deeper leagues for today's matchup, and he's a standard league option too on a day where a lot of team's No. 1 pitchers are starting.

If he looks good, keep rostering/utilizing him in the future. Also be ready to add him in more leagues if he doesn't get picked up today.

Andrew Painter - Philadelphia Phillies

Painter is up to 56% owned after making his first start of the season.

Painter made his long-awaited MLB debut on Tuesday. He earned a win over the Nationals after working 5 1/3 innings. Painter allowed a run on four hits and one walk, while striking out eight batters. He needed just 84 pitches to get through his outing.

Painter is a highly-regarded prospect, so a great showing in his MLB debut is really promising. Of course, Washington isn't the best offense, but it's still an encouraging sign for the young hurler.

He should be rostered in all deeper leagues, at least for the time being. I like the idea of adding him in some standard leagues as well, especially if you have a roster spot to play with.

If Painter excels in his rookie year, he could be a massive fantasy asset. Why not roster him and see if he keeps excelling on the bump?

Paul Sewald - Arizona Diamondbacks

Sewald sits at 32% rostered right now - he's steadily risen since the start of the season.

Sewald has already appeared in three games for Arizona. He got an out in the eighth inning in his first appearance, but has earned saves after working the ninth innings in back-to-back games.

In 2 1/3 innings, Sewald has not allowed a hit or walk, while striking out four batters. He's on the rise because he's getting saves.

As long as he's pitching well, I see fantasy value to take advantage of. Arizona should win enough to support him, so feel free to add him in some deeper leagues. More positive results on the bump will give Sewald a chance to sneak into standard leagues eventually, so keep tabs on him if you aren't ready to add him today.

Tyler Alexander - Texas Rangers

Alexander has shot up to 15% owned over the past couple days.

In a surprise, it's been Alexander getting the save chances in Texas. He earned one in extra innings in his second appearance of the season, but worked the ninth and got the save in his last outing.

Over three innings so far, Alexander has allowed an unearned run on one hit and no walks, while striking out three batters.

It's early, but Alexander has worked himself into a high-leverage role with the Rangers. Texas is winning plenty early on, so that's a plus for the guy who is getting saves.

I'm not completely sold on him being the go-to closer, so I only would consider adding him in deeper fantasy leagues today. If he keeps earning saves, and is clearly the No. 1 guy, then he can be added in all deeper leagues and some standard ones.

Liam Hicks - Miami Marlins

Hicks is owned in 16% of leagues right now, after barely being owned at the start of the regular season.

Hicks has started his 2026 season hot. He's made three starts over his four games played so far.

In all his starts, Hicks has driven in runs, and at least two of them. He has eight RBIs over four hits, with a double and two homers in there. Hicks has four runs scored, one walk and one strikeout over 14 plate appearances as well.

When starting, Hicks is batting cleanup for Miami. That's a great spot for a hitter to emerge as a fantasy asset.

Agustin Ramirez is around, and Miami isn't going to take him out of the lineup. If Hicks keeps hitting, those two might switch between the catcher and designated hitter spots though, so that both can stay in the lineup regularly.

Until we know for sure that Hicks is going to get enough playing time, I'm only willing to add him in deeper leagues. He'll need to play daily and keep delivering to sneak into standard leagues someday.

I don't think it's impossible, but it seems more likely that Hicks tops out as a deep-league asset.

Ryan O'Hearn - Pittsburgh Pirates

O'Hearn has steadily risen to 53% overall right now.

O'Hearn is excelling early on with his new team. Over five games, he's started each game and already has 23 plate appearances.

He has eight hits, with two home runs among the knocks. O'Hearn has six RBIs, three runs scored, four walks and three strikeouts.

He opened the season as the No. 5 hitter against a right-handed starting pitcher, then hit cleanup against the next one and fifth against the last righty they faced. O'Hearn has hit second against the two lefties the Pirates have faced.

The fact that he's in the lineup daily is what fantasy owners need to be focusing on. He has at least one hit in every game, so there's a good chance he sticks in the lineup.

The other nice thing with O'Hearn is that he should be eligible at first base and in the corner outfield spots. There's plenty of fantasy assets to go around at those spots, but O'Hearn can also be a daily fantasy asset for one of those positions.

I'd love to own O'Hearn in deeper leagues, and probably just roster him all year, unless he really falls off. He's a standard league streaming option when he's hot at the plate, so right now. There's a chance he sticks in those leagues if he regularly contributes, so consider adding him in standard leagues too.
