Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Targets: Lance McCullers, Jake Burger & More

It's time to put together our second fantasy baseball waiver wire article of the week.

Here's the story we did on Monday, plus Tuesday's starting pitcher streaming article. We won't cover any of the players from those articles.

Lance McCullers Jr. - Houston Astros

McCullers is up 4.42% today, bringing his overall mark to 6.43%.

He made his first start of the year on Monday, and it was a good one. McCullers worked seven innings and got a win over the Red Sox. He allowed a run on four hits and one walk, while striking out nine batters.

It was a stellar start to the season for McCullers, who appeared in just 16 games a year ago, which was his first MLB action since 2022. He's been a fantasy asset in his past, and maybe at full strength finally, McCullers can return as a good asset.

He's worth adding in some deeper leagues today, and he'll be a good streaming option in deeper leagues when he starts again. He could even be a standard league streaming asset for that game. A matchup against the Athletics is likely next for him, and that's a good enough matchup to try him in all leagues coming off a splendid outing.

Jameson Taillon - Chicago Cubs

Taillon is rostered in 17% of leagues, which is up as he prepares for a start on Tuesday.

He will be making a start against the Angels, which is a good matchup on paper. That makes Taillon a streaming option.

Taillon has ERAs under 3.68 the past two seasons. He had a 3.68 ERA over 23 starts in 2025. Taillon went 11-7 and struck out 98 batters in 129 2/3 innings.

Taillon is worth streaming in some deeper leagues today, and I would also consider him in some standard leagues. Most are going to want to see him excel first before adding him in those leagues, and that makes sense too.

If he delivers tonight, he'll be added in a bunch of leagues, so be ready to pounce.

Michael Soroka - Arizona Diamondbacks

Soroka sits at just 6%, but that's up from barely being rostered in any leagues.

He started on Monday as well, and he fared well too. Soroka got the win against Detroit after striking out 10 over five scoreless frames. He allowed four hits and just one walk, but also needed 89 pitches to get through five.

Soroka is in his first season with Arizona, and is off to a strong start. He's another pitcher who has had some success in his past, but has struggled over the past several years. We'll see if he gets back to his old self in his new home.

He's worth some deep-league adds today, and will be a good streaming option for his next start. Soroka could also be a standard league streaming option. 

Atlanta, the team he made his debut with, is his next scheduled start. It's a tougher test, but coming off a good showing, I'd be willing to fire him up in a good amount of leagues.

Kodai Senga - New York Mets

Senga is rostered in 72% of leagues, which is up about 3% as he readies for a start.

He will be starting on Tuesday against the Cardinals. That's a pretty good matchup on paper, despite St. Louis looking pretty solid early on.

Senga is looking for a fully healthy season, and to get back to his 2023 form, when he had a 2.98 ERA over 29 starts. He's made 23 starts over the past two years, with 22 of those coming last year.

He can be a really good fantasy asset when healthy, and if he excels in his first start, his own percentage might skyrocket close to 100%. Stream him in his first start and hang on to him if he looks good - that goes for the whole season.

Jake Burger - Texas Rangers

Burger is rostered in 42% of leagues. He sat at just 27% just four days ago.

Burger has been stellar in the early going, collecting eight hits over his first four games. He has a double and two home runs, plus six RBIs, four runs scored, a hit by pitch, no walks and seven strikeouts.

He's a big-time power threat, but doesn't hit for the best average, or really get on base all that much. Those things hold him back as a fantasy asset, but there's stretches where he's a good fantasy asset, and now is one of those times.

I like adding him in all deeper leagues when he's going well, and he even becomes a standard league streaming asset, so consider him there too.

Andres Gimenez - Toronto Blue Jays

Gimenez is owned in 36% of leagues, which is up from 20% just three days ago.

Gimenez has started the 2026 season hot, collecting seven hits over four games. He has a triple and a homer among the hits, along with five RBIs, a run scored, two walks, a stolen base and just one strikeout.

He's looking to bounce back after a really rough go of things in 2025. He's hit near .300 in the past, but even getting back close to his career average of .255 would be a win for fantasy owners.

He's a good deep-league asset right now, so he's worth adding in those leagues. If he keeps delivering, then he could become a standard league option. Keep tabs on him, and don't wait too long to add him, as he could be in store for a breakout year in his age-27 season.
