Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Most-Added Players to Start the Week

After using fantasy baseball weekly projections to identify some waiver wire/streaming options for the week, let's discuss some of the most-added fantasy baseball players at the start of a new week.

We won't cover any pitchers who appeared in Monday's streaming article.

Luke Raley - Seattle Mariners 

Raley is up 12.12% today already today, which brings his overall mark to 28.15%.

Raley was stellar in the team's opening four-game series. Across 15 plate appearances, Raley homered three times among his four total knocks. He had six RBIs, three runs scored, a walk and six strikeouts.

Raley has some pop in his bat, but is coming off a season in which he had just four homers over 73 contests. He had 41 homers between the 2023-24 seasons though, so there's bounceback potential with him.

Raley made three starts over those four games, starting on the bench against a left-handed pitcher. If he's in a platoon, he could play enough for deep-league fantasy value, but not playing against lefties might hold him back from being a standard league fantasy asset. Add in that Raley batted sixth in each start and Raley looks like a better deep-league asset.

I'm happy to add him in deeper leagues, at least until his hot bat cools off. I don't see him getting in standard leagues and sticking, but he's worth tracking in case he breaks out in 2026.

Joey Wiemer - Washington Nationals

Wiemer has been added in 5.86% of fantasy leagues - he's up to 9.24% overall.

Wiemer was a big surprise in the opening series. He made two starts and got eight plate appearances. Wiemer reached base all eight times.

He had two homers and a triple among his six hits, while also walking twice. Wiemer had four RBIs and three runs scored.

Wiemer hit fifth in both of his starts. He started against two left-handed pitchers, so he too could be in a platoon.

Wiemer is only worth adding in deeper leagues right now as a result. He could get some starts against righties, especially if he keeps delivering in his time on the field, so keep tabs on that. Wiemer has failed to deliver in his four-year big league career, but at 27 years old and in an organization not stacked with talent, there's a chance Wiemer breaks out in 2026.

For now, treat him as just a deep-league fantasy asset though.

Lucas Erceg - Kansas City Royals

Erceg is rostered in 26.47% of leagues after a 7.9% increase today.

Carlos Estevez is the closer in Kansas City, but he was tagged for six runs in 1/3 of an inning in his first appearance of the season. He was also hit by a comebacker, and could hit the injured list.

Erceg earned a hold in his first appearance of the season, then claimed the save on Sunday. He has a strikeout over two innings pitched, while working around two hits and one walk.

If Erceg continues to serve as the team's closer, his own percentage will keep rising. Right now, I only like adding him in deeper leagues, but if Estevez hits the IL or loses the closer role, Erceg could work into standard leagues, so keep tabs on this situation.

Randy Vasquez - San Diego Padres

Vasquez has been added in 10.47% of leagues and now sits at 19.75% overall.

He started on Saturday and was great over six scoreless innings. Vasquez had two hits and three walks, while striking out eight batters.

Vasquez had a 3.84 earned run average over 26 starts and 28 appearances last season, and at age 27, he could be taking the next step as a pitcher. 

I like the idea of adding Vasquez after what he showed in his first start. He's an add in deeper leagues, and will be a really good streaming option in those leagues for his next appearance. He could even be streamed in standard leagues.

It looks like he will face Boston later in the week, and that's a good enough matchup to try him in, so keep him in mind for his next start.

Emerson Hancock - Seattle Mariners

Hancock is up 6.65% and is owned in 9.58% of leagues overall.

Hancock was also stellar in his first start. Against Cleveland, he tossed six scoreless innings and got the win. Hancock didn't allow a hit, while walking just one. He struck out nine batters and also hit a batter.

He has a career 4.64 ERA now, so that performance was kind of out of nowhere. Hancock could stick in the Seattle rotation, especially if he keeps excelling, so it makes sense to add him today.

Hancock is lined up to face the Angels later in the week, which is a matchup to target. After how he looked in his first start, I'd say Hancock is a very good deep-league streaming option for that game, and he could even sneak into some standard leagues.

Again, his spot in the rotation isn't locked in, but it'd be hard to pull him from the rotation if he keeps excelling like he did in his first start, so keep tabs on Hancock.

Owen Caissie - Miami Marlins

Caissie is rostered in 18.49% of leagues after a 5.94% increase today.

He started two of the first three games for Miami, and delivered a walk-off homer in the game he didn't start. Caissie now has five hits over 10 plate appearances, with the homer and two doubles among the knocks. He also has four RBIs, two runs scored, a stolen base, no walks and two strikeouts.

He hit sixth and eighth in his two starts, and started on the bench against a lefty. Keep that in mind if you are interested in adding Caissie today.

I'd only consider adding him in deeper leagues today. That could change in time, but he'll need to play daily to be a good hold in standard leagues. Keep tabs on him to see if Caissie breaks out with Miami.
