Owen Caissie | Fantasy Outlook

Owen Caissie remains sidelined with a back injury as the season winds down

Caissie has not appeared in a game over the past week and remains on the 10-day injured list with a lumbar stress reaction. Prior to the injury, the young outfielder posted a .222 average with one home run in five games for a third-place Marlins squad (76-80) currently riding a three-game losing skid. While he holds down the everyday right field job when healthy, his back issue leaves Miami without their primary power-hitting outfielder.

Through 108 games, Caissie has showcased legit pop with 14 home runs and 58 RBI, comfortably outpacing our season projection of nine round-trippers. However, persistent contact issues have suppressed his overall profile, leaving him with a .220 batting average on the year and a dismal .188 mark across his last 30 days. The high strikeout rate makes his batting average a persistent liability, though his power output remains genuine when he can play.

Miami enters a six-game schedule featuring road matchups in Chicago against Kevin Gausman (4.67 ERA) and Shota Imanaga (3.90 ERA), followed by tough weekend home tilts against Atlanta arms like Martin Perez (3.09 ERA). With Caissie still shut down due to his lumbar reaction and our models projecting zero fantasy points for the week, he cannot be used in fantasy lineups. Sit.
