Dylan Crews Grapples with Contact Issues Ahead of Challenging Weekend Series

Dylan Crews has struggled to find his footing since his recall, batting just .132 over his last 14 days. Despite the slump, he remains a vital part of the outfield mix for the third-place Nationals (35-34), slotting in behind Jacob Young in center and James Wood in right. His raw power has flashed with a couple of loud home runs, but a high strikeout rate continues to limit his fantasy utility.

These contact issues mirror his early career struggles, but our season projection of a .231 average, 10 home runs, and 15 stolen bases suggests brighter days are ahead. While his current .183 mark on the year is discouraging, his underlying speed and elite exit velocity mean his overall profile should eventually experience positive regression back to his baseline.

Looking at the remaining games this week, Washington faces a demanding home series against Seattle's rotation. Crews will draw difficult matchups against Bryce Miller (1.33 ERA) and Emerson Hancock (2.74 ERA), though a Saturday date with Luis Castillo offers some relief. Given the challenging matchups and his cold bat, fantasy managers should look elsewhere. Verdict: Sit.
