Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Hitter Pickups: Ramos, Gonzales and More
Looking for offense on the waiver wire? These four hitters are trending up in both production and fantasy usage.
Let's now turn our attention to some fantasy baseball waiver wire hitting options!
Here is the waiver wire hitter article from Monday, plus Tuesday's waiver wire/streaming pitching article.
Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Heliot Ramos - San Francisco Giants
Ramos is up to roughly 39% rostered in fantasy baseball leagues. He was at 27% back on July 2.
Ramos had a three-hit game on Monday night. He tripled and homered twice, while also having five RBIs and three runs scored.
Since returning from an injured list stint on June 28, Ramos has 10 hits over eight games and 34 plate appearances. He has a double, two triples and four homers among the hits, plus eight RBIs and runs scored, two walks and six strikeouts.
Ramos now has a .274 average and .314 on-base percentage over 52 games and 210 plate appearances on the season. He has 54 total hits, including 13 doubles, eight home runs and three triples. Ramos has 28 RBIs, 27 runs scored, 12 walks and 53 strikeouts.
The outfielder can be a solid fantasy asset when healthy, and he's showing that of late. He's available in more leagues than usual after spending time on the IL. Ramos is worth adding in deeper leagues today, and those looking for fantasy outfield help in standard leagues could also benefit from adding Ramos today. At least consider the move.
Nick Gonzales - Pittsburgh Pirates
Gonzales is rostered in 46.95% of leagues after being scooped up in 3.27% of leagues already today.
He was another hitter with a three-hit game on Monday. He doubled among the knocks, walked once and scored two runs.
Gonzales has a six-game hitting streak going right now. He's tallied 13 hits in that stretch, including a homer and two doubles. Gonzales also has five RBIs and runs scored, three walks and just two strikeouts in that stretch.
Gonzales is hitting .312 and getting on base at a .369 clip over 347 plate appearances and 85 games. He has 13 doubles, four homers and a triple among his 99 total hits, plus 40 RBIs, 49 runs scored, four stolen bases, 23 walks and 62 strikeouts.
Gonzales might not be hitting for a ton of power, but a high average and OBP makes him a good fantasy asset, and I think he's overlooked in too many leagues. Throw in that he could be eligible at second and third base, plus maybe shortstop, and Gonzales is a sneaky-good fantasy asset.
Add him in all deeper leagues today, and consider rolling with him in standard leagues too, at least until his bat cools off a little bit.
Cole Carrigg - Colorado Rockies
Carrigg has been added in 6.89% of leagues, which brings his overall mark to 47.89%.
Carrigg also had three hits on Monday night. He doubled twice among the hits, drove in two runs and scored three runs.
He has three multi-hit games over his past four contests. Carrigg has 10 RBIs, eight hits and runs scored, a walk and three strikeouts in that short stretch.
Carrigg is now hitting .309 and getting on base at a .385 clip over 25 games and 97 plate appearances. He has five doubles, four homers and three triples among his 25 total hits. Carrigg also has 21 RBIs and runs scored, two stolen bases, 11 walks and 19 strikeouts.
He's performed well since being called up, and he's going to be owned in all deeper leagues, especially if he keeps delivering big at the plate. He'd be owned in even more leagues if he wasn't part of a stacked fantasy outfield position - he's worth streaming in standard leagues now, especially if you need some help there.
Curtis Mead - Washington Nationals
Mead is owned in about 30% of leagues right now. He was at 26% on July 3, so he's on the rise of late.
Mead also posted three hits on Monday, and that included a double and a home run. He drove in three runs and scored two times.
He has eight hits over his past four contests. Mead hadn't added a ton of other production before last night, so that was good to see.
Mead has played in 75 games this season, getting 276 plate appearances. He has a .240 average and .333 OBP, plus 42 RBIs, 40 runs scored, five stolen bases, 30 walks and 52 strikeouts along the way. Mead has 15 homers, 12 doubles and a triple among his 58 total knocks.
Mead could be eligible at a few positions, which ups his fantasy value a bit more. He's worth deep-league usage when his bat is hot, like it is now. Mead was a standard league option earlier in the season, but it'd take a couple strong weeks in a row to get him there.
