2026-27 Fantasy Basketball Mock Draft: Building a Top-Tier Team From Pick 1

It's time for a very early fantasy basketball mock draft for the upcoming 2026-27 season!

We are using the mock draft simulator here at FantasySP, and doing things from pick 1. The roster is as follows: one PG, SG, SF, PF and C, one guard and forward, three utility spots and three bench slots. 

We'll do a H2H points setup for this mock. Let's get right to it!

Round 1 - Nikola Jokic

I still have Jokic as the top pick going into next season.

He was the top fantasy scorer a season ago, and by a healthy margin too. Jokic's stat-stuffing ways are just too appealing to pass on with the top pick.

Rounds 2/3 - Amen Thompson and Kevin Durant

I drafted a pair of Rockets with my first set of back-to-back picks.

Thompson was the No. 12 overall fantasy scorer a season ago, so I actually see a little draft value in this pick, even though it's No. 20 overall.

Durant was the No. 9 overall fantasy scorer last year, so again, I really like the value in that pick. Durant might be on the back nine of his career, but he's still a high-level player and fantasy asset, so he's a great early pick in my eyes.

Rounds 4/5 - Kawhi Leonard and Desmond Bane

I landed a couple wing players here in rounds 4 and 5 with Leonard and Bane.

Leonard was the No. 13 overall fantasy scorer a season ago, and now is on a better team, so at least similar results could be coming. Again, I see a lot of value in drafting him near where I did.

As for Bane, he was 20th overall in fantasy scoring last season, so to get him at this pick feels like another win for me. Even if he regresses a bit, he's got a chance to outproduce the draft slot I got him at, and that should lead to big things for my team.

Rounds 6/7 - Tyrese Haliburton and Julius Randle

Haliburton fills my point guard spot, while Randle slots in as my top forward.

Haliburton didn't play last season, and I'd expect his ADP to rise in time. If you are drafting early, I see a ton of value in getting Haliburton near this ADP.

Randle was the No. 19 fantasy scorer a season ago, so this feels like another massive draft value win for me. He's on a worse team now, so I'd expect him to not perform as well in 2026-27, but I see him outproducing this draft slot by a decent margin still.

Rounds 8/9 - Rudy Gobert and Onyeka Okongwu

I doubled up on big men in rounds 8 and 9 with Gobert and Okongwu. I was already set with just Jokic, but now center is a definite strength for me.

Gobert and Okongwu were each ranked in the 40s in terms of fantasy points a season ago. If you compare that to what picks I got them at, there's definite fantasy upside with each player.

We know what we're getting with Gobert as an established veteran, but if Okongwu were to really take off this season, he could be a nice trade chip for me, so that's another reason why I like taking him.

Rounds 10/11 - Ryan Rollins and Caleb Wilson

I felt like I needed another guard, so I nabbed Rollins with my 10th-round pick. With my first bench slot, I took a rookie in Wilson.

Rollins was a top-40 fantasy scorer a season ago, so again, I'm loving the value here. He should still be a big part of what the Bucks do, even after the team made sweeping changes this offseason.

Wilson is a guy with a ton of upside in Chicago, which is on the rise. He has a chance to start and deliver big right away, and at this pick, I see a ton of potential in him.

Rounds 12/13 - Brandin Podziemski and Tobias Harris

I capped my roster by taking Podz and Harris.

Podz is another guard option for me. He's slated to still be starting for Golden State, and with Stephen Curry still as a proven player around him, I see Podziemski stuffing the stat sheet and being a good fantasy asset for me.

With Harris, I thought a veteran wing player was the best option to round out my roster. He's in a new place, but surrounded by a ton of talent in San Antonio. That should set him up to deliver well on a nightly basis, which is exactly what you're looking for at that point of a fantasy draft.

Final Thoughts

For this being my first mock draft for the upcoming season, I think I really hit it out of the park.

I simply don't see a weakness on my roster. My starting lineup is full of proven and consistent fantasy players, with high-upside guys all over the place too. Even my three bench guys are players I really am excited about going into the 2026-27 season.

At point guard, I have Haliburton, Thompson, Rollins and Podziemski, so while my leader is coming off an injury, I've got more than enough talent around to feel confident about that spot.

Thompson, Haliburton, Bane, Rollins and Podziemski are options at shooting guard. I might lack elite names there, but I have proven options across the board, so I'm feeling great there too.

Leonard, Durant, Bane and Harris are options at small forward. I don't have a ton of options there, but the elite duo of Durant and Leonard still makes me feel great about that position.

Durant, Leonard, Randle, Wilson and Harris are power forward options for me. I'm really liking that position's outlook, and would think it was my best if not for the centers I landed.

With Jokic, Gobert and Okongwu, I'm more than set with centers. That position is just the icing on top of what I think is an A+ mock draft.
