Memorial Day weekend is treated as the unofficial start of summer for many. Most schools have let out for the summer or are about to, and the weather is nice enough in many parts of the country to get outside and start summer activities. In the baseball world, it means we can start taking things seriously, for better and worse.

Moving to fantasy baseball, let's look at four starting pitchers in action on Friday who are widely available in fantasy leagues and have good matchups. Most stats are from MLB.com, as are the probable starters. The full streamer rankings are listed at the bottom.

Use FantasySP's waiver wire tool to find the players being added to fantasy leagues most often!

Noah Cameron, Kansas City Royals vs. Seattle Mariners

Cameron's walk and strikeout rates are very close this year to what they were in his rookie season of 2025, the former a little better than average, and the latter a hair worse than average. The difference is in how hard he is getting hit, as Cameron is allowing more than a hit per inning (after 109 in 138 1/3 innings last year) and has seen his ERA rise by nearly two-and-a-half points. He has given up home runs less frequently, so bad luck probably plays a role here, giving Cameron a decent outlook despite his 5.40 ERA.

The Mariners continue to rank in the bottom 10 or very close to it in everything outside of walks and home runs. They also rank in the top five in most batter strikeouts, setting a nice ceiling for opposing pitchers on the days that they don't find their power. Seattle seems like a team that could eventually move off our target list, but with Memorial Day approaching, they are still faltering offensively many days.

Cameron is a low-to-mid-level streamer. His strikeouts being just a little below average pulls him down below the next level, though Seattle's swing-and-miss ways give him a little upside, even with his ability to limit hitters wavering.

Bubba Chandler, Pittsburgh Pirates @ Toronto Blue Jays

Chandler's expectations are way down from the beginning of the season, but I keep expecting him to bounce back, as do fantasy owners (seemingly), as his ownership percentage is around 40%. His last start against Philadelphia may have been his worst, as he walked four and gave up five runs in just three innings. There's a nice ceiling once he straightens out (including big strikeout numbers possibly), but Chandler can't find his control, and his numbers are suffering.

Toronto was expected to be a powerhouse after making it to Game 7 of the World Series last year, but their offense has struggled hard, helping lead to their spot more than 10 games back in the AL East. The Blue Jays rank in the bottom 10 in most offensive box stats, and while they've shown a decent hit tool, they aren't hitting for any power. Toronto doesn't strike out much, limiting the ceiling for opposing pitchers a bit, but they also don't draw many walks, helping to balance that out.

Chandler is a low-to-mid-level streamer. I'm still holding out hope for better performance moving forward, but we can't just assume that will happen until we actually see it. The matchup gives him an OK outlook, though bulk Ks are unlikely.

Trevor McDonald, San Francisco Giants vs. Chicago White Sox

The White Sox are closer to the middle of the league than the bottom as an overall offense, making their spot here tentative, especially compared to the past few seasons. They strike out a lot, which helps raise the ceiling of opposing pitchers, and their hit tool hasn't shown up as much as the power has. One weird quirk: while Chicago is in the top five in home runs, they rank last in doubles by a relatively wide margin, meaning their power isn't coming through in all aspects.

McDonald only has 37 innings to his name, throwing minimal big-league frames in each of the past three seasons. He has been good with both strikeouts and walks, and McDonald did good K work in the minor leagues as well, leaving hope that he can continue excelling in that area. McDonald has also done well limiting hitters and runs, giving him a good outlook moving forward.

McDonald is a low-to-mid-level streamer today. His short track record means that we should show some restraint, and the matchup isn't as great as we thought it would be at the beginning of the season, but this game also takes place in San Francisco, which is a good pitcher's park. I feel optimistic here.

Connor Prielipp, Minnesota Twins @ Boston Red Sox

Prielipp is getting his first taste of the majors this season, looking good in 25 innings so far. He has given up just 15 hits and eight earned runs (12 runs total) with an average walk rate and well-above-average strikeout rate. Prielipp did high-level strikeout work in the minors also, so that could be a continued positive. Like with McDonald, there's cautious optimism based on a very small sample size.

The Red Sox rank in the bottom 10 in many offensive box stats, particularly showing a lack of home run power. They have hit a lot of doubles, and that is a valuable skill that works into the power numbers, but Boston is falling short in most areas, helping lead to their low standing.

Prielipp makes it a clean sweep of low-to-mid-level streamers today. He is a small step behind McDonald today because this game takes place in a hitter's park in Boston, and the Red Sox don't strike out as much as the White Sox, leaving the ceiling just a bit lower. Prielipp's small track record plays into that as well.
