A new week is here, so it's time to go over weekly fantasy baseball projections to identify some waiver wire/streaming options.

We have several players to discuss, so let's get right into it!

Weekly fantasy baseball projections can be found on FantasySP all season! Daily projections are also available!

Ildemaro Vargas - Arizona Diamondbacks

Vargas could play up to six games this coming week. He's rostered in about 62% of fantasy baseball leagues at the moment.

He still has a hit in every game this season - Vargas has played 20 games now, and has 29 total hits. He has six homers and doubles, plus two triples, 20 RBIs, 18 runs scored, two walks and 10 strikeouts.

There's a lot to like in Vargas' numbers so far, and he's worth adding and utilizing until he cools off. Him being eligible at several positions is just a bonus.

Add and start him in all deeper leagues, and don't be afraid to pick him up in some standard leagues as well, as he's delivering enough for utilization in some of those leagues too, even if he's a better short-term option.

Dalton Rushing - Los Angeles Dodgers

Rushing sits around 43% owned right now. He could play up to six games as well.

Rushing might be a reserve for LA, but whenever he's on the field, he's delivering, so he's worth adding in more leagues. He has just 12 games played and 44 plate appearances on the year, so keep that in mind.

He has 15 hits and three walks for a .385 average and .455 on-base percentage. Rushing has seven homers, two doubles, 16 RBIs, 11 runs scored and 11 strikeouts as well.

Rushing usually is starting at catcher, but the Dodgers might give him more looks at first base, or somewhere else, to keep his hot bat in the lineup. He's just a deep-league asset until he is starting daily though.

Ivan Herrera - St. Louis Cardinals

Herrera is another catcher we are pointing out this week. He's rostered in 62% of leagues and could play up to seven contests.

Herrera has just a .240 average, but a .403 OBP over 27 games and 124 plate appearances this season. He has a much better .324 average and .439 OBP over his past nine games and 41 plate appearances though.

He has four homers, five doubles, 13 RBIs and 11 runs scored this season. Herrera has more walks (19) than strikeouts (18).

Herrera is playing daily, at either catcher or designated hitter, and he's excelling, so he's worth adding and utilizing in more leagues. He's definitely worth the add and utilization in deeper leagues, and he'd likely be an upgrade for a lot of standard league teams, so really look into Herrera today.

Mickey Moniak - Colorado Rockies

Moniak is owned in 72% of leagues and could play up to six games.

He has a .316 average and .353 OBP over 22 games and 85 plate appearances this season. Moniak is on an 11-game hitting streak, with 16 knocks over that span.

Moniak has eight homers and five doubles among his 25 total hits. He also has 15 RBIs, 14 runs scored, a stolen base, five walks and 20 punchouts.

Moniak is a bit overlooked because of the team he's on. The former No. 1 overall pick has found success in Colorado, and deserves more fantasy ownership/utilization. He's a better deep-league asset in the long run, but is definitely worth some standard league adds and starts right now.

Masyn Winn - St. Louis Cardinals

Winn sits near 33% rostered, and has seven games on tap this week.

Winn had a 10-game hitting streak ended on Sunday. He had 16 knocks over that 10-game stretch, which upped his average to .265 over 22 games and 95 plate appearances this season.

He also has a .347 OBP on the year. He has five doubles, a triple and a homer among his 22 total knocks. Winn has 12 RBIs, 13 runs scored, three stolen bases, nine walks and 21 strikeouts as well.

Winn would be getting more fantasy attention if he wasn't at a stacked fantasy shortstop position. He is worth adding in most deeper leagues though, and he could be a short-term option in standard leagues.

Miguel Vargas - Chicago White Sox

Vargas is owned in 66% of leagues - he could play up to six games this week.

Vargas has just a .204 average on the season, but a .347 OBP is really strong. He's played in 27 games and logged 121 plate appearances.

He has four doubles, a triple and five homers over his 20 total knocks. Vargas has 13 RBIs, 20 runs scored, five stolen bases, 20 walks and 19 strikeouts so far.

Vargas' average is really low, but that OBP and overall production is pretty solid. It makes him worth fantasy utilization in deeper leagues, and he's another short-term option in standard leagues.

Pitchers

Casey Mize - Detroit Tigers

Mize is rostered in 68% of fantasy leagues right now and has two starts lined up for the coming week. He'll open the week against the Braves, then take on the Rangers later in the week.

I don't love the matchup against the Braves, but Mize has been stellar over five starts so far, sitting with a 2.51 earned run average so far.

He is 2-1 and has allowed just eight runs on 23 hits and 10 walks over 28 2/3 innings. Mize has struck out 32 batters.

Mize is worth streaming because of what he's done so far this season. The Braves' matchup is a bit below average, but that Rangers' matchup is one to consider him in all leagues for, especially if he looks good against Atlanta.

Clay Holmes - New York Mets

Holmes is owned in 64% of leagues and also has two starts lined up this week. He has matchups scheduled against the Nationals and Angels.

I like both of his matchups this week, and Holmes has also been good across his first five starts. He sits with a 2.10 ERA over 30 innings.

He has allowed seven runs on 21 hits and 10 walks, while striking out 19 batters. Holmes is 2-2 so far.

The strikeouts are a bit low, but he's limiting runs. The matchups are good enough to try because of what Holmes has done so far, so consider adding him for both outings.

Randy Vasquez - San Diego Padres

Vasquez is another two-start pitcher, with matchups scheduled against the Cubs and White Sox this week. He's rostered in 74% of leagues.

The Cubs' matchup is so-so, but the White Sox' matchup is stellar. Vasquez is another guy who has looked good most of the year - he has a 1.88 ERA over 28 2/3 innings.

He's allowed six runs (four in one start) on 23 hits and just eight walks, while punching out 30 batters. Vasquez sits with a 2-0 record, and the Padres are 5-0 in his starts.

Vasquez has been good enough to try in most matchups, so I'm good with starting him against the Cubs. He's a must-start against the White Sox, as long as he doesn't implode against the Cubs.

Steven Matz - Tampa Bay Rays

Matz is only owned in 29% of leagues right now. He has favorable matchups against the Guardians and Giants this week.

I like both of those matchups for Matz, who isn't as trustworthy as some other pitching options, but his season numbers aren't too shabby.

In five starts, the Rays are 4-1, and Matz is 3-1. He has a 4.81 ERA, so they've scored some runs behind him. Matz has allowed 13 runs on 20 hits and 10 walks, while striking out 25 over 24 1/3 innings.

You can see his numbers aren't as good as some of the other ones we've covered so far. That's why he's owned in less leagues. I wouldn't mind trying him in some deeper leagues this week, and he could be a standard league option against San Fran if he excels against Cleveland first.
