Friday Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Picks: Rising Arms and Key Bats

Jeffrey Springs is turning heads early, while Francisco Alvarez and Xander Bogaerts are emerging as solid waiver options. We also cover two streaming starting pitchers for Friday.

We have one final fantasy baseball waiver wire article for you on the final day of the work week.

Here are our stories from Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Also be sure to check out Friday's starting pitcher streamer article.

Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!

Chad Patrick - Milwaukee Brewers

Patrick is another streaming starting pitcher option for Friday. He's sitting at 34% rostered in fantasy baseball leagues.

Patrick will start on Friday against the Nationals. That's a pretty solid matchup on paper.

In his first start of the season, Patrick worked 4 1/3 innings, allowing one run on five hits and one walk, while striking out four batters. He earned a win in his last outing after firing five scoreless frames - Patrick allowed four hits and three walks, while striking out three.

The results so far have been pretty positive for Patrick, but there's shortcomings too, with low strikeouts and innings pitched, while giving up a few too many baserunners. He's been able to work out of trouble so far, and in a good matchup on Friday, there's a chance Patrick delivers a nice fantasy outing.

I'd still only want to stream him in deeper leagues. There has to be options out there with higher upsides for standard leagues.

Davis Martin - Chicago White Sox

Martin is another streaming option for today. He sits at 19% owned at the moment.

Martin will make his third start of the season on Friday against the Royals. That's a solid matchup on paper.

He won his first start, despite allowing three runs in five innings of work. Martin gave up five hits and two walks, while striking out six batters. Martin was victorious in his last outing as well, tossing six scoreless frames against Toronto - he surrendered four hits and two walks, while striking out six again.

Martin has slid under the fantasy radar, but after his first two starts, he was a pretty good fantasy asset. I like trying him tonight, but again, it's more just in deeper leagues. I'd bet there are better standard league options out there.

Jeffrey Springs - Athletics

Springs is on the rise after making a start on Thursday. He's owned in about 28% of leagues, and that's sure to rise significantly before his next start.

Springs faced the Yankees on Thursday. He shut them down, allowing just one hit and two walks over seven scoreless frames. Springs struck out six batters.

That moved Springs to 2-0 over three starts. He has a 1.47 earned run average over 18 1/3 innings. Springs has allowed three runs on eight hits and six walks, while striking out 15 batters.

Springs turned heads on Thursday, and showed that he can be a very good fantasy asset. He struggled to a 4.11 ERA in 2025, but has a 3.56 career ERA, and some even better seasons than that.

He's dealt with injuries, but is off to a fast start in 2026, and worthy of picking up in more fantasy leagues. He should be owned in all deeper leagues for his next start, while being a standard league streaming option as well. If you need some pitching help, why not try Springs and see if he can keep things rolling.

Francisco Alvarez - New York Mets

Alvarez is now rostered in 50% of leagues. He's been on the rise since pretty much the start of the regular season, when he was at about 36% owned.

Over his first 12 games and 41 plate appearances, Alvarez has a .265 average and .359 on-base percentage. He has three home runs and one double among his nine knocks, while adding three RBIs, six runs scored, four walks and eight strikeouts.

He bats at the bottom of the Mets' order usually, but there's enough talent in the lineup to make any regular starter a good one. Being at a weaker fantasy position, Alvarez is a good fantasy asset, despite not having any eye-popping numbers.

He's worth adding in all deeper leagues, and is a standard league option if you are struggling to find catcher help. If he keeps producing at this level, he should be added in most standard leagues.

Xander Bogaerts - San Diego Padres

Bogaerts is rostered in about 41% of leagues right now. He was down to 37% earlier this week.

Bogaerts is on a five-game hitting streak, collecting nine knocks over that span. He has 13 hits on the season, and a .241 average overall, so he started the year pretty slow otherwise. Bogaerts also has a .281 OBP, eight RBIs, four runs scored, two stolen bases, three walks and six strikeouts to his name.

He hits fifth most days for San Diego, which is a great spot for a fantasy hitter to be in. Bogaerts has been a so-so fantasy asset the past couple years, but he has stretches where he's more valuable, like now.

Bogaerts is worth adding in most deeper leagues right now. Being at a loaded shortstop position, that holds him back from being owned in all standard leagues, although he's a short-term option in those leagues right now too.
