Jefferson Rojas and J.J. Wetherholt Among National League Prospects Nearing Promotion

Assessing the fantasy baseball outlooks for a prospect from every NL team who is nearing a promotion.

After discussing some American League prospects on the verge of a promotion, let's do the same for National League prospects.

Again, I got this story idea after seeing an article on the MLB's site.

Explore the best in-season tool to manage lineup/start decisions including waiver pickups, projections, trade suggestions, trade value charts, rest of season rankings, power rankings, and tons more with Fantasy Assistant.

Braves - Ian Mejia

Mejia is 25 years old and pitching in Triple-A, so him being called up would help him make his MLB debut. His ETA is 2025 after he was drafted 335th overall in the 2022 MLB Draft.

Mejia has made eight starts and 12 appearances this season, covering 63 innings. He's 6-1 with a 2.29 earned run average and 51 strikeouts so far.

The Braves need help in several areas, and Mejia should get promoted at some point here soon. With a 3.83 ERA across his minor league career, Mejia could be a fantasy asset right from his first big league game.

Marlins - Josh Ekness

Ekness is in Double-A as a 23-year-old. He was taken 353rd in the 2023 draft and has a 2026 ETA.

Across 19 appearances and 24 1/3 innings this season, Ekness has a 2-1 record and 2.22 ERA. He's got 35 strikeouts and just a .157 average against him.

Ekness won't be a huge fantasy asset as a reliever, but if he settles into the closer, then you might have something with him.

Mets - Jonah Tong

Tong is at Double-A and has a 2026 ETA after being taken in the seventh round of the 2022 draft. He's 22 years old right now.

Across 12 starts this season, Tong is 5-3 with a 1.97 ERA over 59 1/3 innings. He has 96 punchouts and a .141 average against him.

He's due for a promotion, and I think there's a chance we see him in the big leagues yet in 2025, whether that be for the Mets, or someone else.

Nationals - Travis Sykora

Sykora is the Nats' No. 1 prospect. The 21-year-old pitches in High-A right now and has a 2027 ETA after being taken in the third round of the 2023 draft.

Across 23 2/3 innings at High-A so far, Sykora is 2-0 with a 1.52 ERA over five starts. He's struck out 39 batters and allowed just a .128 average.

Sykora could be a quick riser in the Washington system, and maybe could reach the big leagues next season if he continues to excel on the hill.

Phillies - Aroon Escobar

Escobar is a second and third baseman who plays at Single-A for now. He's 20 years old, has a 2028 ETA and was signed by the team back in 2022.

He's got a .305 average and .398 on-base percentage across 57 games this season. Escobar has 10 doubles and homers among his 69 total hits.

Escobar is turning heads this season, and might move his ETA up if he keeps hitting this well at the next levels of the minor leagues.

Brewers - Brock Wilken

Wilken is 23 years old and is playing at Double-A for the Brewers. He was taken 18th overall in the 2023 draft and has a 2026 ETA.

He's hitting just .230 this season, but is getting on base at a .392 clip over 65 games. Wilken has 18 homers and 17 doubles among his 51 total hits.

I think that power could get him to the big leagues before the end of this season. That power could also make him an immediate fantasy asset.

Cardinals - J.J. Wetherholt

Wetherholt is mashing at Double-A as a 22-year-old. He was taken seventh overall last summer and has a 2026 ETA.

He has a .320 average and .440 OBP over 49 games this season. Wetherholt has 13 doubles, a triple and four homers among his 56 total hits, along with nine stolen bases.

Wetherholt has a 2026 ETA, but if the Cardinals end up selling at the trade deadline, I think we could see Wetherholt in a Cardinals' jersey by the end of the MLB regular season.

Cubs - Jefferson Rojas

Rojas is 20 years old and playing in High-A for now. He was signed in 2022 and has a 2026 ETA right now.

He's posted a .287 average and .392 OBP over 47 games so far. Rojas also has 10 doubles and four triples and homers among his 50 total knocks.

Rojas would have a hard time getting a late-season call up with how loaded the big league team is, but a trade to a new organization could maybe mean a late-season promotion. I think him debuting in 2026 makes more sense.

Pirates - Edward Florentino

Florentino is just 18 years old and was signed by the Pirates in 2024. He has a 2029 ETA and currently plays for the FCL team.

He's hitting .360 and getting on base at a .448 clip over 27 games this season. He has six homers and doubles and two triples among his 32 total knocks.

Florentino is a name to watch in case he keeps excelling as he moves up the organizational ladder.

Reds - Tyson Lewis

Lewis is just 19 years old and plays for the Reds' ACL team. He was drafted 51st overall last summer and has a 2028 ETA.

Lewis has a .348 average and .392 OBP over his first 21 games this season. He also has a double, homer and three triples, along with 11 stolen bases.

Lewis is several years from a potential MLB debut, but his strong start is at least going to get him a little more recognition. We'll see if he can keep things rolling once he gets promoted.

Diamondbacks - J.D. Dix

Dix is playing for the D-Backs ACL team as a 19-year-old. He was taken 35th overall last summer and has a 2028 ETA.

He has a .341 average and .415 OBP over his first 32 games this season. Dix has six doubles, four triples, a homer and eight stolen bases as well.

Dix is also several years off from being a big leaguer, but his strong start is at least promising. He'll be a name to track over the next several years.

Dodgers - Josue De Paula

De Paula is 20 years old and already plays at High-A. He was signed back in 2022 and has a 2026 ETA

De Paula is hitting .279 and getting on base at a .426 clip over 62 games this season. He has 11 doubles, eight homers and a triple among his 60 total knocks, along with 19 stolen bases.

He's a highly-regarded prospect and is showing why this season. He's on track to debut in 2026, but it'll be tough to earn regular playing time for a stacked Dodgers' team - a change of scenery might help De Paula really star.

Giants - Jhonny Level

Level is 18 years old and playing for the ACL Giants. He's got a 2029 ETA after being signed by the team in 2024.

Across 32 games this season, Level is hitting .279 and getting on base at a .376 clip. He also has seven doubles, a triple and five homers, along with nine stolen bases.

He's yet another young prospect several years away from debuting maybe. Level is highly regarded though, so his strong start is very promising in his long-term development.

Padres - Braden Nett

Nett pitches at Double-A for now. The 23-year-old was signed back in 2022 and has a 2025 ETA.

Nett is 4-3 with a 3.58 ERA over 12 starts and 55 1/3 innings this season. He has 69 punchouts and a .241 average against him.

Nett might be called upon if an injury hits the Padres' rotation, but a September call up seems likely if that doesn't happen. He could also be a trade asset, and then immediately called up to his new franchise, so he's a name to watch.

Rockies - Charlie Condon

Condon is 22 years old and plays in High-A after being the third overall pick last summer. He has a 2026 ETA.

He's hitting .345 and getting on base at a .462 clip, so I'm surprised he hasn't already been promoted. Condon has seven doubles and three homers among his 41 total hits this season.

The outfielder/third baseman shouldn't have an issue making the big leagues by the end of 2026, especially looking at the team he's playing for. If he keeps hitting after being promoted, maybe the Rockies will give him a crack at the big leagues in September.
