Hey folks. Today, we're looking at four must-add pickups who are making noise at exactly the right time as fantasy leagues gear up for the playoffs. Whether you're fighting for positioning or chasing that coveted bye, these are the types of players who can quietly tilt a matchup in your favour.

The best part - these aren't just short-term streamers. There's real upside here with young players breaking through and a post-trade surge worth paying attention to, making these names just as interesting for dynasty leagues heading into next season - let's dive in!

Bo Groulx - Toronto Maple Leafs

Groulx has quietly burst onto the scene with three tallies on just seven shots, adding a physical edge with strong hit totals and a +/- rating of +4 rating in a very small sample. It's not often a player comes out of nowhere and immediately produces like this, but right now, he's been one of the only forwards on his team consistently making an impact.

With a major absence opening up opportunity down the middle thanks toAnaheim Ducks captain Radko Gudas putting the Maple Leafs captain and franchise forward Auston Matthews out of commission for the season - Groulx is getting a real look in a middle-six role, and that's where things get interesting for fantasy managers. The usage suggests there's at least some level of trust building, even if the long-term ceiling remains limited.

From a fantasy perspective, this is a classic late-season swing. He could just be riding a hot streak and cooling off any game now, but in deeper formats or banger leagues, the combination of scoring and hits gives him legitimate streaming value right now.

The bigger picture is what makes him intriguing - if this stretch is any indication, he could be carving out a depth role for next season, making him a sneaky dynasty stash if you're looking for a deep sleeper.

Groulx has three goals, one assist, and zero powerplay points in five games played as a forward. He also has seven shots on goal, 18 hits, and two blocked shots.

Cole Hutson - Washington Capitals

Let's be real here - we're working with a one-game sample, so this isn't about chasing production. Hutson scored in his debut and saw powerplay time, which is great, but that alone isn't the reason he should be on your radar.

The real intrigue is the situation and the name. Now signed and getting his first look with Washington, Hutson immediately becomes a dynasty conversation piece. He's the brother of Lane Hutson, and if we've learned anything from families like the Hughes brothers, it's that high-end skill can run deep. That doesn't guarantee anything, but it absolutely raises the ceiling of what we could be looking at long term.

For redraft leagues, this is more of a watchlist or deep league dart throw at best right now. But in dynasty formats, this is exactly the type of early grab that can pay off in a big way down the line. You're not adding him for what he is today, you're adding him for what he might become before the rest of your league catches on.

He logged 16:24 of ice time in his debut, working in a bottom four role and picking up an empty net goal to cap it off (haha, get it?). Washington isn't going to overload him right away, and there's a real chance he rotates in and out of the lineup as he battles for minutes with other depth defensemen.

That said, the underlying profile is solid - he produced 32 points in 35 games at Boston University this season, which tells you there's legitimate offensive ability here. It may take time before that translates consistently at the NHL level, but for dynasty managers, that kind of production is exactly what you want to bet on early.

Hutson has one goal, zero assists, and one powerplay point in one game played as a defensemen. He also has three shots on goal, zero hits, and zero blocked shots.

Bobby McMann - Seattle Kraken

McMann has wasted absolutely no time making an impact with his new team, putting up six points in three games while immediately stepping into a top-line role. That kind of deployment matters just as much as the production itself - when a player is trusted in that spot right away, fantasy managers need to pay attention.

What makes this even more interesting is the lead up to this run. He was already seeing time alongside elite talent earlier in the season in Toronto with the aforementioned Matthews. This was before an injury slowed him down, and now that he's healthy again, and he looks like a player who hasn't missed a beat. If anything, he's taken another step and is making the most of a fresh opportunity.

From a fantasy perspective, this is less of a speculative add and more of a “why is he still available?” situation. The role is there, the production is there, and the confidence from his coaching staff is clear. Even if the scoring pace cools off, top-line usage alone should keep him rosterable in most formats, and if the chemistry sticks, this could be one of those late-season pickups that ends up swinging playoff matchups.

McMann has 23 goals, 15 assists, and six powerplay points in 63 games played as a forward. He also has 135 shots on goal, 143 hits, and 23 blocked shots.

Gage Goncalves - Tampa Bay Lightning

Goncalves is shaping up to be a true dark horse at the perfect time of year. In his second real NHL season in his mid-20s, he's finally getting a legitimate opportunity and making the most of it, slotting into a second line role alongside high end talent while also seeing powerplay time.

Since returning from injury, he's been on an absolute heater, putting together a four-game point streak with six points right out of the gate. That kind of immediate production after missing time is exactly what you want to see, and it lines up with the increased role he's currently holding. The deployment here is key - top six minutes and powerplay usage aren't things you ignore this late in the season.

For fantasy purposes, this is a classic “ride the hot stick” situation. There's no guarantee this level of production holds, but as long as he's playing with skilled linemates and getting those opportunities, he's more than worth a roster spot. If you're looking for a player who can give you a quick burst of offense heading into the playoffs, Goncalves checks that box, and if he continues to stick in this role, there may be more here than just a short-term run.

Goncalves has 11 goals, 15 assists, and two powerplay points in 58 games played as a forward. He also has 58 shots on goal, 71 hits, and 22 blocked shots.
