Robinson, London Power Falcons to Win
In a pretty big surprise, Atlanta knocked off Buffalo 24-14.
Bijan Robinson and Drake London powered the Falcons' offense, to nobody's surprise. Robinson had 170 rushing yards and a score on 19 carries, while adding 68 receiving yards on six catches and eight targets. London went for 158 receiving yards and a touchdown on 10 catches and 16 targets.
Outside those two, there weren't a ton of big-time fantasy performances from offensive players.
Quarterback Michael Penix had a solid showing, completing 20-of-32 passes for 250 yards and a touchdown. He avoided an interception and fumble and rushed for six yards on two attempts.
Tyler Allgeier had the team's other touchdown, but finished with just 38 total yards on 11 touches.
Tight end Kyle Pitts only managed three catches for 18 yards across four targets.
Robinson and London remain the must-start fantasy options on the Atlanta offense. Penix and Pitts are standard league streaming options, while Allgeier can be utilized in deeper leagues in the most favorable matchups.
Swift, Williams Lead Bears
Chicago rallied to a 25-24 win over Washington in the other Monday night contest.
D'Andre Swift was the Bears' top fantasy asset after rushing for 108 yards on 14 carries and adding 67 yards and a touchdown on two catches and three targets.
Quarterback Caleb Williams was 17-of-29 passing for 252 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions. He added a rushing touchdown, even though he went backward two yards on four total attempts.
Luther Burden tallied 51 yards on four catches and targets. Rome Odunze was held to 32 yards on two receptions and five targets. D.J. Moore posted 52 total yards on five touches - he had three catches across five targets.
Kyle Monangai recorded 44 total yards across six touches. Olamide Zaccheaus ended with 28 total yards on three touches - he caught two of his six targets. Colston Loveland had 11 yards on two catches and three targets, while Cole Kmet caught one of his two targets, but didn't gain any yards.
Outside Swift, it was a very balanced offensive attack for Chicago. Swift's performance will make it easier to start him moving forward, and Williams looked pretty good in a favorable matchup and should remain a solid starting option as the season progresses.
Odunze underwhelmed for the first time this season, so his overall fantasy value will take a hit this week. Burden only has two notable performances so far, so he's not the best fantasy asset. Moore and Zaccheaus are both looking like deep-league assets at best right now. The same could be said for Loveland and any other Bears' skill players.
We'll see if more balanced attacks happen in the past, or guys like Swift and Odunze can consistently deliver. If you are worried about too many guys being involved and inconsistent showings as a result, now is probably the best time to sell high, especially on Swift and Odunze.
Bills' Offense Struggles
Buffalo only had 291 total yards of offense, so not many guys were even decent fantasy assets.
Quarterback Josh Allen was 15-of-26 passing for 180 yards and two scores, but he also threw two interceptions. He rushed for 42 yards to help offset the picks.
James Cook rushed for 87 yards on 17 carries, but without a score or any work in the passing game, his fantasy score was lacking.
Joshua Palmer caught both of his targets for 60 yards. He left the game with an ankle injury after a hip drop tackle.
Khalil Shakir went for 33 yards on three catches and five targets. Tyrell Shavers had 27 yards on three receptions and five targets. Keon Coleman was held to 11 yards on three grabs and six targets.
Dalton Kincaid was inactive, so Dawson Knox stepped into a bigger role. He caught a 19-yard touchdown among his two targets. Ray Davis had two grabs for 19 yards and a score.
So it was just Allen who hit double digits for fantasy points in this one. He's obviously the team's best fantasy asset every week.
Cook was solid, and remains a good weekly starting option. Without scores or work in the passing game, his fantasy scores could lack here and there though.
No other players stood out, which is why it's hard to start guys outside Allen and Cook. Kincaid is usually a pretty good option, and will remain the top fantasy pass catcher until further notice.
Shakir, Coleman, Shavers and Palmer are all starting options, but probably better deep-league starters, especially when matchups aren't favorable.
Turnovers Cost Commanders
Washington had 329 yards of offense, but three turnovers plagued the team.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels was the best fantasy asset, but he turned the ball over twice. He was 19-for-26 as a passer, going for 211 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Daniels added 52 rushing yards on 10 carries, but fumbled twice, losing one of them.
Jacory Croskey-Merritt easily led the Washington backfield, but he too lost a fumble. He had 61 rushing yards on 17 carries and added a seven-yard reception.
Zach Ertz finished with 43 yards and a score on six catches and targets. Luke McCaffrey had a 33-yard touchdown on his only target. Chris Moore caught the other score and finished with 46 yards on three grabs and five targets.
Jaylin Lane had 44 yards across two touches - he caught one of his two targets for 37 yards. Jeremy McNichols was the only other running back utilized, and he had 35 yards on five touches - he caught three of his four targets for 30 yards.
Deebo Samuel Sr. was shut down. He had just 15 receiving yards on four catches and five targets, while losing a yard on his lone rushing attempt.
There was some nice balance on offense for Washington, but you can tell the offense is missing Terry McLaurin. Samuel isn't a WR1 at this stage of his career, but he could thrive in a WR2 role. Ertz is my favorite pass catcher after those two, and he should be added and utilized in more leagues after a nice showing on Monday.
Guys like Moore, McCaffrey and Lane will see their roles decrease a bit when McLaurin is back, most likely. They are just deep-league options until the team's top wideout returns.
It was good to see JCM control the backfield, but his fumble is a bit concerning. It will hold him back from being a no-doubt, must-start fantasy asset.
Daniels was the team's top fantasy player, which is no surprise. Outside the turnovers, he still delivered a nice fantasy score, and he should be starting every week, regardless of the defensive matchup he's facing.
IDP and Kicker Stats
Chicago's Tremaine Edmunds had 13 tackles. With 53 tackles, three passes defensed and two interceptions on the season, you can see he's a good weekly IDP option.
Teammate Jaquan Brisker had an interception and three tackles. He's up to 24 tackles, two passes defensed and the pick across five games. He has some deep-league IDP value.
Gervon Dexter Sr. had 1.5 sacks among his five tackles for the Bears. He has 2.5 sacks among his 11 tackles for the season, so this probably was an outlier performance.
Washington's Frankie Luvu had a sack among his six tackles and one pass defensed. He has two sacks, 34 tackles and the pass defensed for the season, so he's another decent IDP option.
Commanders' Jeremy Reaves had a sack among his five tackles. He has 29 tackles overall, plus two passes defensed, so he has a little IDP value too.
Chicago's Nahshon Wright had five tackles, a pass defensed and a fumble recovery. He has a pick, two passes defensed, the fumble recovery and 24 tackles, so he's got IDP value to take advantage of.
Bears' Montez Sweat had three tackles, a forced fumble and a pass defensed. He's got a sack, 14 tackles, two passes defensed and a fumble recovery across five games, so while he's underperformed so far, he's still got some IDP value.
Buffalo's Shaq Thompson had 10 tackles and a pass defensed on Monday. He has 24 tackles, a sack, two passes defensed and a forced fumble across five games, so there's a little value to him as well.
Dee Alford had a sack among his six tackles, three passes defensed and a pick for Atlanta. He has the pick, five passes defensed, a forced fumble, the sack and 18 tackles on the season, so he's maybe a bit underrated as an IDP asset.
Falcons' DeAngelo Malone had an interception, but no tackles. He has five tackles on the season, so he should be avoided outside super deep IDP setups.
Buffalo's Deone Walker had a pass defensed and four tackles for losses among his five overall tackles. He had a pass defensed, 0.5 sacks and seven TFLs among his 15 total tackles, so the rookie is starting to emerge a bit.
Chicago kicker Jake Moody was 4-of-5 on his field goals and made his lone extra point. Washington's Matt Gay made all three of his extra points and one of his two field goals.
Atlanta's Parker Romo made all three of his extra points and one of his two field goals. Buffalo's Matt Prater made his lone two kicks (both extra points).
