Fantasy Baseball Trade Advice: 6 Hitters to Buy or Sell

Let's continue the fantasy baseball coverage this Friday by discussing some trade options. We'll use the FantasySP Trade Value Chart to discuss players trending up and down.

We will discuss hitters first, then pitchers in a separate article. Let's dive right in!

Hitters Trending Up

Seiya Suzuki - Chicago Cubs

Suzuki has been good at the plate since July 8, collecting 14 hits over 11 games and 50 plate appearances. He has four doubles and home runs among the hits, plus 11 RBIs and runs scored, a stolen base, nine walks and 10 strikeouts.

His overall season numbers are pretty good as well - .270 average, .358 on-base percentage, 53 RBIs, 54 runs scored, 43 walks, 95 strikeouts and one stolen base. 

Suzuki is an outfielder, which is a loaded fantasy spot. If you are set with fantasy outfielders, selling the Cubs' outfielder high right now could make some sense. He also has an injury history, so I'd be happy to flip him in a trade before his bat cools off some.

Dillon Dingler - Detroit Tigers

Dingler has been really good of late, with nine hits over his past four games played. He has three home runs, six RBIs, five runs scored, two walks and two strikeouts over that stretch.

He has  a .274 average and .339 OBP over 94 games and 391 plate appearances on the season now. Dingler has 22 doubles and home runs among his 96 total knocks, plus 66 RBIs, 54 runs scored, 25 walks and 82 strikeouts.

Dingler has been a pretty good fantasy asset this season, but was likely a backup catcher option for you coming into the year. If that was the case and Dingler isn't needed on your team, then flipping him during a hot stretch at the plate could benefit your team in the long run. It needs to be a pretty good return, otherwise just hold Dingler and roll with two, or more, catchers.

CJ Abrams - Washington Nationals

Abrams is coming off a four-hit game. He was great in the three games before that, popping four home runs among his five hits. He has eight RBIs, five runs scored, two walks, a stolen base and five strikeouts over that four-game stretch.

He's enjoying a career season, and sits with a .286 average and .359 OBP over 99 games and 423 plate appearances now. Abrams has 20 doubles, 24 homers, two triples, 106 total hits, 76 RBIs, 62 runs scored, 16 stolen bases, 36 walks and 91 strikeouts as well.

Abrams has been a good fantasy asset this season, but he's a sell-high option now. Depending on how your team looks overall, and especially at shortstop, Abrams could be tradeable - just make sure the return is big, as he's been at least good for most of the season.

Hitters Trending Down

Bobby Witt Jr. - Kansas City Royals

I usually do not include injured players on the trending down list, but I'm making an exception for Witt. He's on the injured list for the first time in his career - he has lower back tightness.

He has a .279 average and .350 OBP over 94 games and 414 plate appearances this season, which is down from some of his career marks, but still really good. Witt has 103 hits in total, including 22 doubles, 13 homers and a triple, plus has 39 RBIs, 51 runs scored, 41 walks, 30 stolen bases and 73 strikeouts.

We don't know his return timetable, but hopefully he's not out long - with the Royals floundering this season, they might play things safe with Witt. It makes now a good time to trade/or acquire Witt.

If you roster Witt, you'll still get a good return for him, so if you are worried about him being out a while, trading him away could actually help you now. Those with a strong roster and a ton of depth could use some of that to target Witt for the postseason push in a few weeks.

Xavier Edwards - Miami Marlins

He has one hit over his past five games. He has a run scored, no RBIs, two walks and nine strikeouts in that span.

Edwards has a .290 average and .372 OBP over 103 games and 434 plate appearances this season, so you can see this is a rare cold stretch. He has 13 doubles, six triples and homers, 109 total hits, 37 RBIs, 51 runs scored, 14 stolen bases, 52 walks and 58 strikeouts.

Now is a great time to go after the second baseman, who should be eligible at shortstop too. His value won't be this low for long, so it's a great time to buy low on Edwards. Do it before his bat heats back up.

Brandon Lowe - Pittsburgh Pirates

Lowe has a single across his past four games. He has walked twice, drove in a run and scored once in that span, but six strikeouts are also seeing him trend down.

He has a .243 average and .312 OBP over 95 games and 423 plate appearances this season. Lowe has 21 homers and doubles, plus a triple, among his 91 total hits, plus 65 RBIs, 61 runs scored, 39 walks, 115 strikeouts and a stolen base.

He's had strong stretches this fantasy season, but he's struggling of late. Lowe is one to try and buy low on right now, especially if you could use some help at second base.
