Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: 5 Hitters to Add for Friday

These five hitters are making noise at the plate and could be worth adding in fantasy baseball leagues.

After looking at some fantasy baseball starting pitcher streaming options for Friday, let's dive into some waiver wire hitting options!

Here are waiver wire stories from Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - we won't cover any other players from those stories in today's article.

Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!

Jeremy Pena - Houston Astros

Pena has been added in 1.86% of fantasy baseball leagues today, bringing his overall mark to 81.25%.

He has a five-game hitting streak going, and has eight knocks over that span. Three of the hits have been homers, and he also has six RBIs, seven runs scored and two walks in that span.

Pena has 235 plate appearances over his 56 total games played. He has a .302 average and .362 on-base percentage, plus 28 RBIs, 42 runs scored, eight stolen bases, 17 walks and 38 strikeouts. Pena has nine doubles and home runs among his 64 total hits.

Pena is trending up of late, and has been a pretty good fantasy asset when healthy this season. He is worth adding and utilizing in more fantasy leagues, at least until his bat cools off. Pena should be owned in all deeper leagues, while being a good standard league option for the time being.

Joey Ortiz - Milwaukee Brewers

Ortiz is sitting at just 6.58% owned, but that's up from just 1.36% six days ago, so he's trending up.

Ortiz has five hits over a three-game hitting streak. Since July 4, Ortiz has a .373 average and .429 OBP over 16 games and 56 plate appearances. He has four doubles, three homers and a triple among his 19 hits in that span, plus nine RBIs and runs scored, three stolen bases, five walks and seven strikeouts.

He's played in 89 games this season, getting 262 plate appearances so far. Ortiz has a .239 average and .310 OBP, plus 28 RBIs, 29 runs scored, 25 walks, eight stolen bases and 46 strikeouts. He has nine doubles, five homers and a triple among his 55 total knocks.

Ortiz is eligible at shortstop and third base, which bumps his fantasy value up a bit. He's just a deep-league fantasy asset, but he's worth some adds and utilization, at least until he cools off a bit. I don't see him getting into standard leagues, but he could get close if he keeps things rolling for a bit longer.

Chase Meidroth - Chicago White Sox

Meidroth is rostered in 25.44% of leagues right now. He's mostly trended down over the past month.

He had a four-hit game on Wednesday. He has 17 hits this month, along with seven RBIs and seven runs scored. Meidroth has walked five times, while striking out on 11 occasions.

Meidroth has played in 98 games so far, getting 411 plate appearances. He has a .277 average and .347 OBP, along with 34 RBIs, 57 runs scored, 38 walks, two stolen bases and 97 strikeouts. Meidroth has 17 doubles and seven homers.

He could be eligible at second base and shortstop, so that ups his value a little bit. Meidroth has hit pretty well of late, so he could be a sneaky-good option in deeper leagues for a little while. At least keep tabs on him after his four-hit outing his last time out.

Ildemaro Vargas - Arizona Diamondbacks

Vargas sits at 23.25% owned right now. He's mostly trended down over the past month.

He has six hits over his past two games, and eight hits over a four-game hitting streak. Vargas has two RBIs, four runs scored, two walks and just one strikeout in that stretch.

In 89 games and 323 plate appearances this season, Vargas has a .270 average and .315 OBP. He has 81 hits, including 14 doubles, seven homers and three triples. Vargas also has 49 RBIs, 45 runs scored, 18 walks, two stolen bases and 30 strikeouts.

Vargas can play all over the field, and the more spots he's eligible at, the better. He's trending back up after starting the year extremely hot. Vargas is worth re-adding in some deeper leagues, and keeping close tabs on, as he's already shown to be a high-end fantasy player, so standard league adds could be coming again down the line.

Luis Rengifo - San Diego Padres

Rengifo sits at just 1.75% owned - he was barely owned for much of this season.

Rengifo joined the Padres after struggling in his time with the Brewers. In six games and across 24 plate appearances with the team, Rengifo has nine hits, including a home run. He has five RBIs and runs scored, two walks and six strikeouts.

San Diego is desperate for offensive help, and Rengifo is providing a bit, so expect him to keep earning starts. He's played at second base and left field, and has experience at several other spots, so that works in his favor.

He's worth some adds in deep, deep leagues today, and he's one to keep tabs on, as he'll become addable in more deeper leagues if he keeps things rolling at the plate.
