5 Fantasy Baseball Starting Pitchers to Possibly Stream on Friday

Looking for a fantasy baseball streaming option for Friday? Here are five pitchers worth considering on the waiver wire.

Let's kick off the final day of the work week/the start of the weekend by going over some fantasy baseball waiver wire pitching options.

Check back in a bit for some waiver wire hitting options.

Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!

Shane Drohan - Milwaukee Brewers

Drohan is up 5.51% already today, and he's now owned in 49.12% of fantasy baseball leagues overall.

He will get the ball against the Rockies, who are a good team to stream against. Better yet, the game is in Milwaukee, so this is a great matchup for Drohan.

Drohan has made 10 starts across his 20 total appearances this season. He's 5-3 with a 3.20 earned run average over 76 innings. Drohan has surrendered 32 runs (27 earned) on 69 hits and 21 walks, while striking out 76 batters. He's started in nine straight appearances, and hasn't allowed over three runs in any of the past six outings.

Drohan is trending up as a fantasy asset and he's a good option heading into a favorable matchup today. I like streaming him in all deeper leagues, and could also justify trying him in standard leagues.

Roki Sasaki - Los Angeles Dodgers

Sasaki is on the rise as he prepares to make another start. He's at 47% owned right now.

He will start against the Mets on Friday. New York is hitting a bit better of late, but is still a good team to stream against.

Sasaki has made 17 starts this season - he's 3-5 with a 4.98 ERA over 86 2/3 innings. Sasaki has allowed 50 runs (48 earned) on 82 hits and 34 walks, while striking out 85 batters. He's allowed four runs (three earned) over his past two starts, so he too is trending up.

He's in a similar boat to Drohan, but I like Drohan a bit more. I still would be good with streaming Sasaki in all deeper leagues and considering him in standard leagues today.

Grant Holmes - Atlanta Braves

Holmes has been added in 1.76% of leagues, which brings his overall mark to 32.46%.

He will start against the Orioles on Friday evening. Baltimore is a pretty solid matchup to try a streaming pitcher in.

Holmes has made 18 starts over 19 appearances this season. He's 6-4 with a 3.70 ERA, allowing 40 runs (38 earned) on 83 hits and 41 walks, while striking out 78 over 92 1/3 innings. He's allowed three or less runs in 12 straight appearances, but only covered 55 innings in that stretch.

So Holmes has a solid fantasy floor, but his fantasy ceiling is also a bit low. Between that and the matchup, I like Holmes better in deeper leagues today. He could be considered in standard leagues, but I prefer Drohan and Sasaki over him.

Jared Jones - Pittsburgh Pirates

Jones has risen 2.19% already, and he sits at 69.3% overall now.

The young righty will start against the Cubs on Friday evening. Chicago isn't a great team to stream against, but Jones is a good option with how he's pitched of late.

Jones has allowed one or no earned runs in three straight starts, but only covered 15 innings in that stretch. He's made nine starts since returning from the injured list, and Jones is 2-1 with a 4.05 ERA over 40 innings. He has 48 strikeouts to his name, which makes up for some shorter starts.

I also like Jones as a streaming option in all deeper leagues today, and I'd be good with using him in standard leagues too. He's right there with Drohan and Sasaki as the top streaming options we've covered in this article, but his shorter starts take him down a peg.

Spencer Arrighetti - Houston Astros

Arrighetti is up 1.58% today and is now rostered in 42.11% of leagues.

He'll get the nod against the White Sox later today. Chicago is a better offense than in years past, but is still not an offense to fear.

Arrighetti has made 16 starts this year - he's 7-5 with a 4.34 ERA over 87 innings. He's allowed 44 runs (42 earned) on 66 hits and 48 walks, while striking out 87 batters. He's been up and down of late, allowing a run in his last start, and also his first start of the month, but the start in the middle was an eight-run blowup, and he surrendered 25 runs over five June starts.

So Arrighetti is a riskier streaming option given his inconsistent results of late. I really only like him in deeper leagues, and would take him last of the five guys we've discussed in this article, although he's close to Holmes.
