Should You Drop These Big-Name Fantasy Baseball Players?
Not every struggling player deserves a roster spot - here's who can be cut and who still deserves patience.
Let's now turn our fantasy baseball attention to some possible drop candidates.
Here is the last drop article we did.
More droppable player data can be located on the waiver wire trends most dropped tab, which can be found on any fantasy baseball page here at FantasySP.

Maikel Garcia - Kansas City Royals
Garcia is sitting at 86% rostered right now. He missed some time with a hand injury, and now is on the 10-day injured list.
He has played through the injury since mid-May but will now try to heal things up with a 10-day IL stint. The team is hoping he doesn't miss much more time than that.
Garcia has a .261 average and .320 on-base percentage over 69 games and 294 plate appearances this season. Those are down from a career season in 2025. Garcia has 70 hits (17 doubles, three homers, two triples), 30 RBIs, 32 runs scored, five stolen bases, 24 walks and 45 strikeouts.
He's still a solid fantasy asset, but now out for some time, he's droppable, especially if you are out of roster/IR spots. I'd keep tabs on him and be ready to add him back when he's activated off the IL.
I see better days ahead for Garcia, so now is a time to stash him in deeper leagues, and maybe acquire him for cheap in a trade.
Emerson Hancock - Seattle Mariners
Hancock is currently owned in 90% of leagues, but he's trending downward now.
He started the year hot, but is regressing now. Hancock has allowed 11 runs on 13 hits and two walks over his past two starts. At least he has eight strikeouts over 9 1/3 innings in that stretch.
Over 15 starts, Hancock is 5-4 with a 3.60 earned run average. He has allowed 34 runs on 68 hits and 19 walks, while striking out 81 over 85 innings.
The time to sell him high was a couple weeks ago. Now he's looking more like a standard league streaming option. I'd still try him in the right matchups, but be wary of him in tougher tests.
He should settle in the middle of that great start and his last two poor starts.
Zack Gelof - Athletics
Gelof is rostered in 85% of leagues right now. He got banged up on Tuesday night.
He suffered a right hand laceration and contusion and was pulled from the game after being stepped on. Gelof had his 24-game hitting streak ended.
Gelof has a .282 average and .336 OBP over 62 contests and 228 plate appearances. He has 11 homers, 10 doubles and a triple among his 59 total hits, plus 29 RBIs, 40 runs scored, eight stolen bases, 14 walks and 55 strikeouts.
Gelof can play all over the field, so he's a versatile defender on top of being a good hitter most of the season. We'll have to watch his status, but hopefully he's not out too long.
He's droppable in some standard leagues, but I'd wait to see his status before dropping him, as he's been a good fantasy asset until this point. If he gets dropped in your league, look into scooping him up for free.
Ryan Helsley - Baltimore Orioles
Helsley is at 72% and is sinking, after going back up after he was activated off the injured list.
Helsley has pitched twice since returning from a month-plus layoff, and he's been tagged for five runs over 1 2/3 innings. He blew a save in his last outing, and has allowed three homers across 11 batters faced.
Helsley is 0-3 with seven saves and the blown save in 14 appearances so far this season. The only times he's allowed more than a run in an outing were in his past two appearances.
Better days should be ahead for Helsley, but it's concerning that he's struggled since returning. Hopefully there's no injury issues, and Helsley can work things out in time.
He's droppable in standard leagues, especially if you are set with fantasy relievers already. Keep him around in deeper leagues as long as he's in the big leagues and active. Now could be a time to buy low on Helsley if you see him bouncing back and being a better fantasy asset down the line.
Daylen Lile - Washington Nationals
Lile is rostered in 80% of leagues right now. He's trending down now, after sitting at 85% two days ago.
He has just one hit over his past six games, which covers 23 plate appearances. Lile has no walks, RBIs or runs scored in that span, and has struck out three times.
Lile is down to a .248 average and .308 OBP over 78 games and 338 plate appearances on the season. He has 76 total hits, including eight homers, three triples and 16 doubles. Lile has 37 RBIs, 42 runs scored, seven stolen bases, 24 walks and 57 strikeouts.
He's failed to live up to a promising rookie campaign he had in 2025. Lile has been a streaky hitter, and is in a cold stretch right now.
He's droppable in standard leagues during these stretches, but be ready to add him back when his bat heats back up. Keep him around in deeper leagues, maybe just bench him for the time being.
