Fantasy Baseball Roster Decisions: 4 Droppable Players
Poor performances and injury concerns are forcing fantasy managers to make tough roster decisions this week.
After looking at a lot of fantasy baseball waiver wire options to start the week, let's now discuss some droppable players.
Some players are droppable due to poor performance on the mound or at the plate, while some injuries are hurting other fantasy assets. Let's dive right in.
More droppable player data can be located on the waiver wire trends most dropped tab, which can be found on any fantasy baseball page here at FantasySP.

Tanner Bibee - Cleveland Guardians
Bibee is at 84% rostered in fantasy baseball leagues right now. That could drop noticeably after his most recent showing.
Bibee only made it three innings in his last start. He was tagged for seven runs on eight hits, including five home runs. He didn't walk a batter, but he also only struck out three.
He has now allowed over three runs in three starts this season, and has given up three runs on two other occasions. Bibee has some good starts sprinkled in, but is 0-7 over his first 12 outings this season - Cleveland is 2-10 in the games he's started.
Bibee has allowed 32 runs on 62 hits and 21 walks over 63 innings for a 4.57 earned run average. He has struck out 55 batters to work out of more trouble.
Those numbers aren't great, but they have helped him stick in all deeper leagues, and most standard leagues. He's more of a standard league streaming option for the time being though, so I am fine with dropping him after his starts, especially poor ones.
Keep tabs on Bibee, but until he shows consistently better results, look elsewhere for fantasy pitching help.
Ildemaro Vargas - Arizona Diamondbacks
Vargas has been let go in 5% of fantasy leagues today, which brings his overall mark down to 84%. He's been over 90% for a good portion of this season so far.
After opening the season with a 24-game hitting streak, Vargas has started to regress. He has no hits over his past six games, which spans 22 plate appearances.
Vargas has a .304 average and .333 on-base percentage over 46 games and 191 plate appearances this season, which are still pretty good marks. He's just not delivering enough at the plate of late though, so he's being dropped, and rightfully so.
I still would hold Vargas in deeper leagues, and even a few standard ones, but that's partly due to him being a player you could start at several different positions. If he keeps slumping at the plate, he'll be dropped in more and more leagues.
Vargas' time in the fantasy spotlight might have already come to a close, but he's worth tracking in case he ever heats back up.
Nolan McLean - New York Mets
McLean is owned in just about every fantasy league yet, but there's a few owners out there who have started dropping the Mets' hurler.
McLean was a really good fantasy asset early in the season, but he's fallen off hard. He has allowed 16 runs (13 earned) over his past two starts, which have spanned just nine innings.
McLean hadn't allowed more than three runs in a single start before that. He's 2-4 over his 11 starts so far, and he sits with a 4.40 ERA over 61 1/3 innings pitched now. McLean has allowed 35 runs (30 earned) on 48 hits and 19 walks. He's punched out 75 hitters, which is why fantasy owners want to hold on to him.
Better days should be ahead for McLean, and I'd try to hold out hope on him for a couple more starts. If the poor results keep happening though, fantasy owners will have no choice but to bail on McLean.
At least stream him in standard leagues for his next couple starts, but be paying close attention to his results.
Max Muncy - Los Angeles Dodgers
Muncy is down to 84% rostered at the moment as he deals with a wrist injury. He has missed three straight games and could be a candidate to hit the injured list if he doesn't return in the next game or two.
Muncy has dealt with injuries over his career, but it's a bummer to see him banged up this season as he's performed pretty well at the plate. Across 48 games and 190 plate appearances, Muncy has a .258 average and .363 OBP, plus 12 homers and six doubles among his 42 combined hits.
Muncy has 19 RBIs, 36 runs scored, 26 walks and 49 strikeouts. He just plays third base now, but that position doesn't have the best fantasy assets, and Muncy has been a solid option there so far.
The longer he sits out, the more he will be dropped in standard leagues. If he hits the IL here soon, expect Muncy to be dropped in most standard leagues. Keep holding him in deeper leagues, as he's just too valuable to drop.
Be watching his status and be ready to add Muncy back to standard league rosters when he's back in the starting lineup. Again, he's been a good fantasy asset, so utilize him as long as he's producing pretty well at the plate.
