Must-Add Fantasy Baseball Hitters for Monday
A look at the top hitter pickups, including prospects and hot streak bats worth monitoring.
After taking a look at some fantasy baseball waiver wire options/streamers among pitchers, let's go over some hitters.
Also be sure to check out the article on waiver wire/streaming options based on weekly fantasy projections.
Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Bryce Eldridge and Jesus Rodriguez - San Francisco Giants
Eldridge is up 12.03% so far today, and sits at 26.77% overall. Rodriguez is owned in less than 1% of leagues.
Eldridge is the bigger fantasy asset of the two, as the own percentages suggest. Eldridge is the No. 20 prospect in baseball and will be embarking upon his second stint in the big leagues.
He hit .107 and got on base at a .297 clip across 10 games and 28 at-bats last year in the big leagues. Eldridge has a .285 average and .370 OBP over 279 minor league games since 2023.
Eldridge has 300 total hits over that span. He has 59 doubles, 59 home runs and two triples among the hits, plus 216 RBIs, 162 runs scored, 141 walks, eight stolen bases and 334 strikeouts.
Eldridge isn't being called up to sit the bench - he's going to start daily somewhere. He's a primary first baseman, but has played right field in the minor leagues as well. Between the corner outfield spots, first base and designated hitter, the Giants are going to find a way to start Eldridge daily.
He's worth adding in more deeper leagues today, and he could be worth picking up in standard leagues in time. Eldridge is a guy to keep an eye on, if you aren't willing to add him right now.
Rodriguez is another guy getting called up on Monday. He is the No. 18 prospect for the Giants, and can play catcher and third base.
The 24-year-old has played in 430 minor league games since 2019. He has a .311 average and .396 OBP along the way. Among his 495 hits, he has 89 doubles, 17 triples and 34 home runs, plus 240 RBIs, 281 runs scored, 214 walks, 74 stolen bases and 256 strikeouts.
This season in Triple-A, Rodriguez had a .330 average and .400 OBP over 24 contests. He's played first, second and third base, plus catcher and left field in the minor leagues, so he has several ways to crack the lineup.
Again, I doubt San Fran is calling him up to not play him pretty much every day. Right now, he's just a deep-league asset, but he could be picked up in more and more leagues if he starts delivering at the plate.
Eldridge has the higher upside, but Rodriguez could surprise and be a good fantasy asset as well. Keep eyes on both guys and add them if they start delivering at the plate.
Mickey Moniak - Colorado Rockies
Moniak is rostered in about 78% of leagues. He was at about 46% owned on April 23.
He's been really good for most of the season, and has three homers among his four total knocks in two games played this month. Moniak now has a .327 average and .374 OBP over 27 games and 107 plate appearances.
Moniak has 32 total hits, 21 RBIs, 19 runs scored, a stolen base, seven walks and 26 strikeouts as well. Among his hits, Moniak has 11 home runs and six doubles.
Moniak is a really good deep-league asset at the moment, and he might stick in those leagues for the remainder of the season. He's a very good standard league option right now as well, but won't get into all standard leagues until he's starting every single day. Keep tabs on him, if you aren't willing to add him today.
Chase DeLauter - Cleveland Guardians
DeLauter has been added in 3.31% of leagues, which brings his overall mark to 88.71%.
DeLauter started the year hot, cooled off, and now is heating back up. He has a .304 average and .392 OBP over 32 games and 130 plate appearances this season.
He has six homers, eight doubles and one triple among his 34 total hits. DeLauter has 21 RBIs, 15 runs scored, 17 walks and 14 strikeouts. He's on an eight-game hitting streak, with 15 knocks over that span, so he's trending up.
DeLauter can be a high-end fantasy asset when he's going well at the plate, like he is now. He's worth picking back up in all leagues, but he might go up and down all season with his performance, so be watching his statlines and add/drop him as you see fit.
