Monday's Top Fantasy Baseball Pitching Pickups: May, Harrison and More
A look at the top pitching streamers and waiver wire arms to target based on recent performance and favorable matchups.
We just went over fantasy baseball waiver wire/streaming options based on weekly projections, and now are going to get into some more traditional waiver wire/streaming options.
Here, let's look at some pitchers. Check back in a bit for an article on hitters.
Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Dustin May - St. Louis Cardinals
May is rostered in about 18% of fantasy baseball leagues as he prepares for a start on Monday.
He will be taking on the Pirates. Pittsburgh has started the year pretty well, but the offense is still lacking a bit.
May was hammered across his first two starts, allowing 13 runs over 7 1/3 innings. In three starts since, he's allowed four runs over 17 1/3 innings. He has a 5.84 ERA and 20 strikeouts over his time on the hill so far, and he's 3-2 after three straight wins.
May is trending up, and has a good enough matchup today to try in a lot of deeper leagues. I'd stop short of streaming him in standard leagues, but May is definitely worth some adds/streams in deeper leagues.
Jack Kochanowicz - Los Angeles Angels
Kochanowicz has been added in 4.06% of leagues, bringing his overall mark to 20.19% overall.
Kochanowicz gets the pleasure of facing the White Sox on Monday. That's a stellar matchup on paper.
In his first five starts, he is 2-0 with a 3.10 ERA. Kochanowicz has allowed 11 runs (10 earned) on 19 hits and 17 walks, while striking out 19 over 29 innings. He's allowed five runs over his past four outings, so he too is trending up.
He still hasn't put it all together, but with how he's pitched of late and due to a stellar matchup, Kochanowicz is a good streaming option on Monday. He's worth trying in deeper leagues, but I'd again stop short of trying him in standard leagues.
Chase Dollander - Colorado Rockies
Dollander is still on the rise, up another 3.73% to 41.35%.
Dollander is on a heater, and he needs to be added in more fantasy leagues before he's scooped up. He's coming off a seven-inning gem against the Mets, in which he allowed no runs on five hits and two walks, while striking out seven.
He had nine strikeouts in his two appearances before that, and allowed just one run over 11 1/3 innings. Dollander has a 2.25 ERA over 32 innings pitched so far this season.
Dollander is a risky addition because his home starts are in Colorado, but he's delivered some good marks at home so far this season. Dollander needs to be added in all deeper leagues, at least, and I wouldn't mind trying him in standard leagues, at least until his excellence disappears.
Randy Vasquez - San Francisco Giants
Vasquez sits near 74% rostered as he prepares for another start on Monday.
He will be facing the Cubs. Chicago isn't a great matchup - I'd classify them as an average matchup, at best.
Vasquez has been great over five starts so far though, sitting with a 1.88 ERA over 28 2/3 innings. He's allowed six runs on 23 hits and eight walks, while striking out 30. Four of those runs came in a single outing.
Vasquez has been an early-season surprise, and it makes him a streaming option against any opponent right now. Chicago isn't a must-attack matchup, but with how he's pitched, I don't mind streaming Vasquez in standard leagues today.
Louis Varland - Toronto Blue Jays
Varland has been added in 3.94% of leagues, which brings his overall mark to 63.78%.
Varland started to go on the rise as a fantasy asset after cleaning up a mess that Jeff Hoffman created on April 21. He earned a save that day, and had saves on April 25 and 26 as well, so he's still on the rise.
He is 1-1, with three saves and three holds over 14 appearances in 2026. Varland has allowed four runs, but only one earned, on 12 hits and four walks. He's struck out 23 over 15 innings.
Varland appears to be the closer for the time being in Toronto. That alone makes him a good fantasy asset, and worth adding in a bunch of leagues. Until his role is locked in a bit more, he's not a must-add pitcher in standard leagues, but he has snuck into those leagues, and is a must-own in deeper leagues.
Kyle Harrison - Milwaukee Brewers
Harrison is up 5.98% today and now is owned in 39.1% of leagues overall.
Harrison made his fifth start of the season on Sunday, and he delivered his best performance yet. Over six shutout innings, Harrison struck out 12 batters, while allowing just one hit and one walk.
He now has a 2.28 ERA over 23 2/3 innings on the season. Harrison has allowed six runs on 17 hits and eight walks, while punching out 30 batters.
Harrison seems to be settling in with his new team, which always seems to get the best out of pitchers. He's addable in deeper leagues today, and could become a must-own guy in standard leagues soon, so keep close tabs on him. Don't wait too long to add him.
