We have entered the final four weeks of the MLB season. The only team with a lead of more than six games in the division is Detroit, who is up by nine games over Kansas City. That will make for an exciting finish hopefully, especially if both wild card races stay close.

Let's look at five starting pitchers in action on Tuesday who are widely available in fantasy leagues and have good matchups. Most stats are from MLB.com, as are the probable pitchers. The full streamer rankings are listed at the bottom.

Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers @ Pittsburgh Pirates

Kershaw has found success the way an aging pitcher must, by creating soft contact when the strikeout stuff is gone. Kershaw's strikeout rate has fallen well below average, but he has given up just 81 hits in 88 1/3 innings and a home run once every 12.6 innings, a great rate. He isn't the star he once was, but Kershaw has been good enough to trust as a streamer.

The Pirates have been making the most headlines because of the players they no longer have. Not the guys they have traded, but the players they have released before they hit milestones that would earn them extra money. First, they got rid of pitcher Andrew Heaney before his next innings bonus came due, then they released shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa before a number of at-bats was reached (he has since been claimed by the Blue Jays). That's the most noteworthy thing we can say about Pittsburgh recently.

Kershaw is a low-to-mid-level streamer. His work has been very good, but his low strikeout rate drops his fantasy value just a bit, though there is upside given his fantastic past and the good matchup.

Michael Lorenzen, Kansas City Royals vs. Los Angeles Angels

Lorenzen is generally a little worse than average with both walks and strikeouts, but he has gotten close to that level in both categories in 2025. He has given up more than a hit per inning, though, and a homer every 6.3 innings, both marks a little worse than average. Lorenzen is a fine pitcher in the middle without a great ceiling.

The Angels are most intriguing in this column because of how much they strike out. I often harp on finding pitchers with above-average strikeout rates because it gives them more ways to be successful in fantasy. Facing a team with that same high strikeout rate sets a high ceiling. It's only a bonus that LA also rates low in most offensive box stats outside of the power categories.

Lorenzen is a low-to-mid-level streamer. He has been fine, but he's a slightly below-average pitcher. The great matchup ups his outlook a bit.

Adam Mazur, Miami Marlins @ Washington Nationals

Washington doesn't hit for power: they rank in the bottom five in home runs, slugging percentage, and OPS. They also don't hit for much average, ranking in the bottom 10 in hits and batting average. The Nationals also fall short getting on base otherwise, sitting in the bottom 10 in walks and on-base percentage. The only place they are a little better is not striking out, as they are among the 10 lowest in batter Ks.

Mazur made eight starts for the Padres last season before being traded to the Marlins. He didn't make it back to the big leagues until June 18 of this year, making one start then and another last Thursday. In that short major league time, he has been far worse than average with both walks and strikeouts while also getting hit hard, giving up 49 hits, 34 runs, and seven home runs in 43 1/3 innings.

Mazur is a low-level streamer. The matchup is right, but Mazur hasn't shown any success in the big leagues, making him tough to trust in your fantasy lineup.

Luis Severino, Athletics @ St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals have been one of the worst offensive teams since the trade deadline, ranking in the bottom 10 in all 10 box stats I use to identify the target teams: runs, hits, doubles, home runs, walks, strikeouts (most), batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS. St. Louis is a strong target right now, though their season-long numbers are a little better.

Severino is having a bit of a down season, doing OK with walks but well below average with strikeouts to the lowest level of his career. He has been decent limiting hitters, but bad luck and that lower K number have led to giving up 82 runs (73 earned) in 136 1/3 innings. His ERA is 4.82, but including those nine unearned runs would bump him up to 5.41, showing how many runs he has really allowed.

Severino is a low-to-mid-level streamer. The Cardinals have been struggling hard offensively, but Severino has been middling or worse the whole season, not someone I want to count on often. Playing this game in St. Louis instead of Sacramento helps.

Simeon Woods Richardson, Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox

After looking like an average pitcher last year, Woods Richardson struggled a bit this season, earning a trip to the minor leagues. He's back in the majors now, having made his first start last Wednesday, when he gave up five runs, five hits, and three home runs in 3 2/3 innings. It has been a trying season, but there's a chance Woods Richardson could look better in the future given his solid 2024.

The White Sox are bad over the full season, but they have been better in the past month or so. In fairness, they couldn't have gotten much worse, but Chicago is in the bottom 10 in just three of the 10 stat categories over that 30-day span. While I still like the idea of targeting the White Sox, it's worth taking note that they have looked better.

Woods Richardson is a low-level streamer. The matchup isn't as good as it would seem at first glance given Chicago's recent success, and Woods Richardson hasn't been able to find his best stuff all season, leaving him as a tough player to trust.
