2022 Fantasy Baseball Trade Value Charts: Time To Cut Bait On Paul Goldschmidt?

Will Desvallees Jul 8th 12:00 PM EDT.

This week, some of the biggest names in baseball should be considered the most undervalued targets to shop for in a trade. Manny Machado, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Mike Trout have seen their respective values drop substantially over the last month on the Trade Value Charts. Although all three are healthy, the dips in production are likely to level out considering these are some of Major League Baseball’s most dangerous hitters. This could be the perfect time to get one of these top-tier players at a discounted price. Max Scherzer’s value is lower than ever after missing the last two months of action. However, the ace threw a gem in his first start since May 18. His value is lower than ever after a two-month stint on the Injured List so now may be a good time to target him. Let’s take a look at the fantasy baseball assets to target in trades as we head into the weekend of Week 13.

Week 13 Fantasy Baseball Buy-Low Trade Options

3B Manny Machado, San Diego Padres (17.73)

After peaking at a trade value of 33 this season which made him the most valuable third baseman in fantasy baseball, Manny Machado has lost almost half of his points on the Trade Value Charts. He currently ranks below Nolan Arenado (19.86) and Austin Riley (19.69). Over the last 30 games, Machado has batted .239, which is well below his season average of .315. Machado is potentially the best third baseman in the game. Target him now before he begins to get back into his groove. You may be able to take advantage of a frustrated fantasy owner.

OF Mike Trout, Los Angeles Angels (14.11)

Mike Trout is in the middle of a rough stretch. Over the last 15 games, Trout has batted .167. In 54 ABs over this stretch of games, he’s only produced nine hits and seven runs. These are particularly bad numbers for Trout who is one of the best players in baseball. To give you an idea of how good he is, look at his regular-season stats. In 2022, he’s batting .266 with 23 homers and 48 RBIs. Until Trout returns to a trade value of at least 20, he is the ideal buy-low candidate in fantasy baseball.

OF Starling Marte, New York Mets (11.31)

Starling Marte has produced 86 hits already this season for 40 RBIs, and nine home runs. Over the last few weeks, his value has dipped on the Trade Value Charts to below 12, although he peaked at approximately 24 earlier this season. JD Martinez (11.59) is just one outfielder who has been striking out a lot in July. This season, while Martinez has struck out 77 times at the plate this season, Marte has struck out 55 times in comparison. The Mets’ outfielder is certainly one of the most undervalued targets to pursue as we gear up for the weekend in Week 13 of the fantasy baseball season.

SP Jameson Taillon, New York Yankees (11.82)

With a record of 9-2 this season, Jameson Taillon has played a crucial role in the Yankees’ success this season. In 89.1 innings pitched, he has struck out 74 batters in 2022. However, Taillon has allowed a total of 14 runs in his last three starts and hasn’t produced as he had in May and mid-June. As a result, his trade value has dropped substantially making him an attractive target to shop for at a discounted price in Week 13.

Week 13 Fantasy Baseball Sell-High Trade Options

1B Paul Goldschmidt, St. Louis Cardinals (31.46)

While Paul Goldschmidt is an excellent player and is having a spectacular season, his trade value has been severely inflated as of late. At the moment, Goldschmidt is the top-ranked player on our MLB Trade Value Charts, and that's because he’s been hitting the ball incredibly. Over the last 15 games, he’s batted .358 with 19 hits, seven RBIs, and three homers. He’s tallied 19 homers, 105 hits, and 65 RBIs on the season with a batting average of .342. While these numbers are phenomenal, there is no way Goldschmidt maintains his current pace. As a result of his phenomenal efficiency at the plate, Goldschmidt’s trade value has substantially increased. His value is so inflated that Goldschmidt is almost three entire trade value points ahead of American League MVP front runner, Aaron Judge (28.77). If you have Goldy on your roster, you could liquidate him for some pretty valuable assets. It would be virtually impossible for him to continue hitting this well for the rest of the season. At 34 years old, the Cardinals’ first baseman is having a career season. Nonetheless, he is simply less valuable than multiple players ranked below him on the Trade Value Charts. Trade him while he’s hot!

OF/1B Kyle Schwarber, Philadelphia Phillies (23.93)

Over the last 30 games, Kyle Schwarber has recorded 30 hits, including 13 homers and 29 RBIs. Nine of those 13 home runs have come in the last 15 games! Schwarber is on an absolute tear. However, it would be virtually impossible for him to hit better than he has over the last month. He has reached a peak trade value of 23.93, placing him well ahead of Juan Soto (19.91) and Mike Trout (14.11) among outfielders in the current Trade Value Charts. At the moment, Schwarber has reached a season-high trade value of nearly 24. Like Goldschmidt, Schwarber’s inflated value in Week 13 makes him a valuable but overrated asset you can sell high. His pace over the last few weeks has been unbelievable. However, there is no way he keeps rolling like this.
