Hey folks. The Olympic spotlight will soon fade away and the NHL grind will soon be returning, but not without consequences as several star players head back to their clubs carrying injuries, bruises, and storylines that could shift fantasy leagues down the stretch.

From a captain missing the biggest games of the tournament to a potential season altering blow for a contender, the Olympic stage once again proved that best on best hockey delivers drama - and risk.

We are digging into five major names impacted during the Olympic Games, separating panic from patience, and identifying which situations could swing fantasy matchups in the weeks ahead as teams push toward the playoffs and managers fight for positioning. Let's dive into the impacted players from the Olympic games in Milan.

Sidney Crosby - Pittsburgh Penguins

When Crosby was labeled a game-time decision for the final two Olympic matchups and ultimately sat out both, it immediately shifted the tone of the tournament. He suffered the lower-body injury during the quarterfinal against Team Czechia, then remained unavailable for the semifinal versus Team Finland and the gold medal game. For a player with his reputation for toughness and big game presence, missing those moments tells you this wasn't precautionary.

Back with Pittsburgh, all eyes now shift to practice reports and lineup confirmations because there's still no official timeline for his return to the NHL schedule. His season stats reinforce that when he's in the lineup, he's still a category carrying force. The only real concern for managers is whether the Penguins ease him back in with managed minutes or a maintenance absence coming out of the Olympic break.

In other words, nobody is sitting him if he plays, but this is definitely one of those situations where you keep a close eye on morning skate updates before locking lineups.

Crosby has 27 goals, 32 assists, and 20 powerplay points in 56 games played this season as a forward. He also has 132 shots on goal, 50 hits, and 23 blocked shots.

Kevin Fiala - Los Angeles Kings

Fiala suffered the most impactful injuries of the tournament, sustaining a lower leg fracture while representing Switzerland that has landed him on injured reserve and is expected to sideline him for the remainder of the regular season. The timing could not be worse for a Kings' roster that just made a blockbuster push by acquiring Artemi Panarin as part of a clear all-in run toward the Stanley Cup.

Before the injury, Fiala was producing at a strong clip and providing secondary scoring punch and powerplay value that balanced the Kings' top six. Losing that layer of offense forces a ripple effect through the lineup, especially in formats that reward depth production rather than just star output. The one silver lining is that while the regular season appears lost, there is still a possibility he could return for postseason action if recovery progresses well, though this is not fantasy relevant.

From a fantasy standpoint, unless you have a deep dynasty league, Fiala can safely be dropped for the season.

Fiala has 18 goals, 22 assists, and 17 powerplay points in 56 games played this season as a forward. He also has 147 shots on goal, 39 hits, and 24 blocked shots.

Josh Morrissey - Winnipeg Jets

Morrissey's Olympic run was cut short after an upper-body injury suffered in Canada's opener against Team Czechia. He ultimately missed five straight games, including the gold medal matchup against Team USA. Any time a top pairing defenseman is sidelined for that length during a short tournament, it usually signals something more than a day-to-day knock, especially given how heavily he's relied on in all situations.

Back on NHL watch, the biggest question now is whether he'll be ready when Winnipeg resumes play against the Vancouver Canucks. There hasn't been confirmation either way, which leaves managers in wait-and-see mode. His production numbers underline just how valuable he's been this season, particularly for leagues that count defense scoring plus peripherals, like shots and blocks.

For now, this feels less catastrophic than some of the other Olympic injuries we've seen, but it's still a situation worth tracking closely because if he misses additional NHL time, that absence hits multiple categories at once given how much he drives Winnipeg's blue line production.

Morrissey has 10 goals, 32 assists, and 12 powerplay points in 56 games played this season as a defenseman. He also has 104 shots on goal, 25 hits, and 94 blocked shots.

Mikko Rantanen - Dallas Stars

Rantanen missed Team Finland's bronze medal game against Team Slovakia after sustaining a lower-body injury late in the semifinal loss to Team Canada. Finland adjusted their top line by slotting Oliver Kapanen alongside Sebastian Aho and Artturi Lehkonen, showing the team's depth but underscoring how much Rantanen's absence was felt.

As the Stars return to NHL action, his status for the Wednesday matchup against Seattle Kraken remains uncertain. He will undergo further evaluation once back in Dallas, leaving fantasy managers in a holding pattern. He is obviously a high-end contributor in multiple categories, and among the best scorers this season. Even a short-term absence could shuffle lines and powerplay minutes, so it's worth monitoring closely.

Rantanen has 20 goals, 49 assists, and 30 powerplay points in 54 games played this season as a forward. He also has 126 shots on goal, 38 hits, and 27 blocked shots.

Jack Hughes - New Jersey Devils

This one's more about flair than fantasy, but it became one of the most memorable moments of the Olympic hockey tournament. Hughes didn't suffer a structural injury in Milan, but he did take a high stick to the mouth in the third period of the gold medal game and lost a couple of teeth on the ice.

He stayed in the game despite the bloody mouth, and then, just over a minute into three-on-three overtime, scored the winning goal to give Team USA a dramatic 2‑1 victory over Team Canada; America's first Olympic men's hockey gold since 1980.

It was one of those hockey moments that'll be replayed for years: bleeding (and toothless) but clutch, with the puck in the back of the net when it mattered most. There's no real injury implication here beyond a few missing teeth that will be fixed and a healthy return expected once the NHL resumes - it's just the kind of grit that adds a bit of color to the Olympic story as the league picks up where it left off.

The New Jersey Devils will hope that Hughes brings back some confidence to get their production rolling again, and hopefully get them some Ws and slide them into playoff contention.

Hughes has 12 goals, 24 assists, and 13 powerplay points in 36 games played this season as a forward. He also has 127 shots on goal, three hits, and 17 blocked shots.
