Hey folks. Today, we're tracking several meaningful injury situations with real fantasy impact across the league. We start with a franchise forward leaving the lineup and a team that clearly will feel his absence. We also have a top defender trending toward a return on Thursday, which could immediately stabilize things at both ends of the ice.

In net, the picture is mixed - one goalie is currently out while another is set to return, creating short-term uncertainty and opportunity depending on your league format. We'll also touch on a forward carrying a day-to-day designation, a situation that fantasy managers should monitor closely as line combinations and deployment can shift quickly. Let's dive in.

Brayden Point - Tampa Bay Lightning

Point's absence is a significant hit for Tampa Bay, as he remains one of the primary drivers of their offense. The Lightning have put together a strong season near the top of their division, and much of that success runs through Point's ability to create offense at even strength and quarterback key moments on the powerplay. A lower-body injury now has him sidelined on a week-to-week basis, and while it is not considered season ending, this is shaping up to be more than a brief absence.

The injury occurred after Point scored in Philadelphia, forcing him out of the game and keeping him sidelined for the remainder of the night. Tampa Bay quickly ruled him out for the immediate follow up, and further evaluation is ongoing as the team navigates a busy stretch of games. Without Point, the Lightning will need to rely more heavily on their depth down the middle, but there is no direct replacement for the offensive pace, transition play, and scoring touch he brings to the lineup.

From a fantasy perspective, Point remains a clear hold in all formats, but managers should be prepared for a noticeable trickle down effect. Tampa Bay's secondary options may see elevated minutes and opportunities, though this is more likely to be spread across multiple players rather than concentrated in one breakout replacement. In weekly leagues especially, planning around his absence now is the safer play, as expecting a quick return could leave managers short handed.

Point has 11 goals, 19 assists, and seven powerplay points in 37 games played as a forward. He also has 82 shots on goal, four hits, and 13 blocked shots.

Brandon Montour - Seattle Kraken

Montour is finally set to return Thursday after being sidelined since mid-December following hand surgery. His absence has been felt on the Seattle blueline, especially given how strong his season started before things cooled off. Montour came out of the gate producing at a high rate, looking every bit like a cornerstone defender for the Kraken before his offensive numbers tailed off.

It remains unclear how much of that decline was tied to a lingering hand issue that eventually required surgery, but the timing certainly raises the question. Seattle will be watching closely to see if Montour can rediscover some of that early-season form now that he's healthy, particularly when it comes to puck movement and decision making in the offensive zone. His return should immediately help stabilize the back end and bring some much needed structure to the powerplay, even if it takes a few games for the offense to fully rebound.

From a fantasy standpoint, Montour is a strong add or activation wherever he's available. There may be a short ramp up period as he shakes off the rust, but his role and usage should remain fantasy friendly, especially in leagues that reward shots, blocks, and powerplay production. Managers welcoming him back should feel comfortable plugging him in, with the understanding that the upside is still very much there.

Montour has six goals, 10 assists, and four powerplay points in 27 games played as a defenseman. He also has 68 shots on goal, 34 hits, 35 blocked shots.

Dan Vladar - Philadelphia Flyers

Vladar has quietly put together a respectable season in Philadelphia, seeing more consistent playing time than he did previously in Calgary. Despite the Flyers being a fairly average team overall, he has provided steady goaltending and has been reliable enough to remain in the fantasy conversation, particularly in deeper formats and leagues that value volume.

That stability is now worth monitoring after Vladar exited early with an undisclosed injury against Buffalo. He was forced out during the first period after allowing two goals, with Samuel Ersson stepping in for the remainder of the game. The situation appears relatively fluid, as further evaluation will determine whether this is a short-term issue or something that costs him multiple starts.

For now, Vladar is being treated as day-to-day, making this more of a wait and see situation for fantasy managers, as no solid details have been released by the Flyers. Those relying on him should keep a close eye on lineup updates, as any missed time could open the door for additional crease movement behind Ersson. In weekly formats, having a backup plan is the safer approach until his availability becomes clearer.

Vladar has 16 wins in 28 games started as a goaltender. He also has a .905 save percentage, 2.46 goals against average, and zero shutouts.

Mackenzie Blackwood - Colorado Avalanche

Blackwood has been activated off injured reserve after missing time with his second injury of the season, and his return adds another layer to an already evolving situation in Colorado's crease. His initial absence earlier in the year opened the door for Scott Wedgewood, who capitalized on the opportunity and played well enough to firmly establish himself in the rotation. As a result, this is no longer a simple return to the throne scenario for Blackwood.

That said, Blackwood's performance this season has been nothing short of excellent. He has been dominant when healthy, suffering just a single loss in his starts and consistently giving Colorado strong, reliable goaltending behind a high powered and incredibly deep roster. The results speak for themselves, even if durability has now become a recurring question after multiple injury stints.

From a fantasy perspective, Blackwood remains a valuable option, but expectations should be adjusted. He's unlikely to walk back into a full starter workload and instead profiles as a 1B option in a tandem for the time being. Managers should still be interested, especially given the team context and his efficiency, but the ceiling is now more about quality starts than sheer volume as he works his way back into regular action.

Blackwood has 13 wins in 14 games started as a goaltender. He also has a .924 save percentage, 2.07 goals against average, and two shutouts.

Josh Norris - Buffalo Sabres

Norris has had an impressive impact whenever he's been in the lineup this season, though his availability has been limited due to injury. When healthy, he has been a driving force for Buffalo, particularly on the powerplay, where his ability to find space and create scoring chances has made him a high value asset for fantasy managers.

He sustained a cross check to the ribs during Wednesday's game against Philadelphia, forcing him out, but early reports suggest he avoided a concussion and didn't aggravate previous shoulder concerns. The Sabres are expected to evaluate him prior to Thursday's matchup against Montreal, and while his exact timeline remains uncertain, he is currently considered day-to-day.

From a fantasy perspective, Norris remains an important player to monitor. His limited games this season have not diminished his upside, especially in leagues that reward powerplay production. Managers should be ready to slot him back in once cleared, but in the meantime, it's wise to have contingency options given the uncertainty surrounding his immediate availability.

Norris has six goals, 11 assists, and six powerplay points in 19 games played as a forward. He also has 27 shots on goal, six hits, and 11 blocked shots.
