Loveland Leads the Way: Divisional Round Fantasy Football TE Rankings

Colston Loveland tops Morgan's Divisional Round tight end rankings. Who else appeared in his top 12?

We have one more set of fantasy football rankings for the Divisional Round, and it's the tight end position. I'll give my top-11 options, plus a bonus pick.

We went over quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers in other stories already.

Use the FantasySP start/sit tool to help determine the best options for the Divisional Round.

1. Colston Loveland

Loveland was an absolute star in the Wild Card Round, and he was easily the team's top pass catcher.

A slightly below-average matchup for him against the Rams this round doesn't scare me off him. Any tight end who could be his team's top pass catcher is going to rank highly, and Loveland leads the way this week.

2. Dalton Schultz

Schultz did not accomplish much in the first round, but the concussion suffered by Nico Collins complicates the Texans' offense in a big way.

Schultz could end up leading the Texans, so I had no choice but to take him second. New England is just an average test for him, so he should deliver regardless if Collins is out there or not - he could star if Collins is out though.

3. Hunter Henry

Henry put together a big fantasy showing against the Chargers in the opening round of the postseason. He too could end up as his team's top pass catcher.

Houston is a below-average matchup for him, but so were the Chargers, so that doesn't scare me off ranking Henry highly.

4. Dalton Kincaid

Kincaid had a good fantasy outing in the Wild Card Round thanks to a touchdown grab.

A slightly above-average test against the Broncos sets up pretty well for Kincaid, who has an outside chance at being the Bills' top pass catcher. I think we are just relying too much on a touchdown for a good fantasy outing, so the No. 4 ranking seems most appropriate.

5. Jake Tonges

Tonges will take over as the top tight end for San Francisco after George Kittle was lost for the season. Tonges delivered in the TE1 role at times this year.

Seattle is actually an above-average test for tight ends, so Tonges could surprise this week. He had a score against the Seahawks way back in week 1, so if you feel like taking a gamble on someone this week, Tonges is a good option.

6. AJ Barner

Barner has had moments where he's flashed as a fantasy asset, but he's been inconsistent.

He barely did anything against the Niners in the team's two regular season meetings. San Francisco is an above-average test, and the best fantasy test a tight end could have this week, so Barner still gets my No. 6 ranking.

7. Colby Parkinson

Parkinson scored to turn a so-so fantasy outing into a good one last week.

The Bears are a tougher fantasy test, otherwise I'd have considered Parkinson a couple slots higher.

8. Tyler Higbee

The presence of Higbee also hurts Parkinson. Higbee had two grabs for 45 yards last week.

Puka Nacua and Davante Adams should thrive in a stellar matchup, while I think the scraps are left to Parkinson and Higbee, so neither are super appealing fantasy assets.

9. Kyle Juszczyk

Juszczyk is the bonus player I decided to rank amongst the tight ends. He's technically a fullback, but is more a swiss army knife for the Niners' offense.

He had 49 receiving yards on four catches and targets last week, and had a little success against Seattle back in week 1, so he's worth considering in some fantasy/DFS setups this week, especially with Kittle no longer around.

10. Evan Engram

Engram really was a fantasy disappointment this season, but with not many great options left, he gets a top-10 ranking.

He has a brutal matchup against the Bills, so I'm not expecting much out of Engram in the Divisional Round.

11. Dawson Knox

Knox is the Bills' No. 2 tight end, and has been steadily involved over the past several weeks.

The matchup against the Broncos means he and Kincaid could put up several fantasy points each, but I'd never want to have to rely on a No. 2 tight end too much.

12. Cole Kmet

Kmet is the final fantasy tight end I am going to discuss for the coming week. He's the Bears' No. 2 TE.

He didn't have a single catch last week, but was involved enough down the stretch to mention again. Kmet could surprise, and because the matchup isn't too awful, he could be an option for those in deep fantasy leagues or needing a very cheap DFS option.
