Miami Dolphins Fantasy Outlook: Can Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, & Jaylen Waddle be elite once more

Mark Morales-Smith Jul 11th 9:32 AM EDT.

As the season grows near it's time to start looking at each and every team in the league to find all the fantasy value you miss when looking at the league as a whole. We will be taking a look at all the key teams and players around the league starting with the explosive offense of the Miami Dolphins.

2023 Miami Dolphins Fantasy Outlook

Tua Tagovailoa is an elite fantasy Quarterback in 2023

This team will go as Tua Tagovailoa goes. Tua showed last season that when healthy he is more than capable of being a top-five fantasy quarterback in this Mike McDaniel offense, however, he has to prove that he can stay healthy. You can take advantage of the fear surrounding his healthy and draft him at a discount. He's being drafted as a fringe QB1 with the upside of a high-end QB1 especially if the offensive line continues to improve like they should. Should Tua get injured, the Dolphins would be left with Mike White or Skylar Thompson. While you can make a case that's a better situation than last season it's still not ideal. Like most teams, the value of the entire offense will hinge on their starting quarterback, but injury risk is higher with Tua. The decision has to be made whether you want to roll with the great value and upside or take a safer route.

Running Back by Committee in Miami

This is going to be a full-blown running back by committee in Miami. There is definitely value to be had, but picking the right guy may be a crap shoot and the right guy could change week-to-week. Currently, Raheem Mostert is being drafted ahead of Jeff Wilson Jr with rookie Devon Achane also very much in the mix in PPR leagues. Dalvin Cook also continues to loom over this backfield, nevertheless, we can't factor him in unless he actually signs with the team which isn't a lock. Undoubtedly, Achane is the most dynamic player and therefore has the most upside, but he's still a rookie and doesn't have the frame to handle a hefty workload so you'd be banking on efficiency and big plays. If you are looking to choose between Wilson and Mostert go with Wilson. He's being drafted later and there is no reason to believe he won't lead this backfield. Wilson is also four years younger and has a significantly shorter injury history.

Best Wide Receivers in the League

The Dolphins have the best wide receivers corps in the NFL. The Bengals and Eagles may have something to say about that, but both teams are looking up at Miami in this category. Both Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle should be viewed as WR1s in all formats with Hill being a top-three receiver and Waddle securely in the top 10. A potential suspension could be hanging over Hill's head which would further catapult Waddle's value up draft boards. This still remains to be seen though. Behind their two stars is a log jam of wideouts with Braxton Berrios, Chosen Anderson, and Cedrick Wilson likely battling it out for the WR3 job. We doubt Wilson wins that job and ideally, for Miami, he probably won't even be on the team in September. Berrios and Anderson play very different roles, so Berrios could hold some more value in PPR leagues while Anderson is more than capable of the occasional big play. If Hill was to miss anytime Anderson would likely be the next man up with Berrios getting the call if Waddle was out. Still, in most leagues, you will only have to worry about Hill and Waddle.

Tight Ends are lacking in Miami

Nothing to see here. The Dolphins aren't overly interested in using tight ends in their passing attack. That's why they let Mike Gesicki walk this offseason. However, if you insist on drafting a Dolphins' tight end Durham Smythe looks like a lock to be the starter. However, his upside is as a streaming dart throw who could find some value if he outperforms his TD expectations.

2023 Miami Dolphins Breakout Fantasy Player

In an established offense, finding a breakout player is a bit tougher because the team is loaded with stars. With that said, Achane is the guy who could become a household name this season. He has been the talk of camp this summer and his college film is incredible. While we doubt he'll ever be a guy who sees 250 touches, he is as electric of a player as you'll find around the league and could light up the league with explosive plays.

Miami Dolphins Fantasy Sleeper

This was a tough one, but we are going to go with Chosen Anderson. He looked great so far this summer and we've already seen him have a 1,000-yard season and catch at least five touchdowns on four occasions. With Hill possibly facing a suspension, Anderson could see a much larger role than anticipated for at least a stretch of the season. This is a tough team to find a sleeper, but this is the guy to watch for now.
