2023 Fantasy Football: Jamaal Williams, Diontae Johnson Highlight Players Who Will Outperform Their Current ADP
ADP is always a little bit crazy this time of year for a number of reasons. However, there is no excuse for why these ADPs are so low. All of these players can be had at great value and will outperform their current ADP this season.
Quarterbacks
Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
If you are shooting for upside Tua is the guy you should be targeting in all your drafts. Injuries are a concern, but last year when healthy he played like one of the best QBs in the league and ended up leading the NFL in QBR. He has everything fantasy owners look for. Tua is a young ascending quarterback with an offensive-minded head coach and arguably the best weapons in the league. Currently, he is being drafted behind guys like Daniel Jones, Kirk Cousins, and Dak Prescott. Don't draft scared, be the smart one in your league and reach a bit for Tua. As of now, he's being drafted as the QB13. There is no way he doesn't finish in the single digits.
Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
Goff was quietly very good last season, especially at home. The Lions have also built a tremendous offense around him. He'll have Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams to throw to, who could end up being a top-three duo in the league in the near future, to go along with Marvin Jones who will hold down the fort until Williams is back from his suspension. They also added TE Sam La Porta and RB Jahmyr Gibbs in the draft who are both dynamic weapons in the passing attack. Then you consider they've built one of the best offensive lines in the league. Goff isn't a sexy pick, but he'll finish much better than his current ADP which has him being drafted as the QB17.
Running Backs
Alexander Mattison, Minnesota Vikings
Alexander Mattison is currently being drafted as the RB35. You need to be drafting as if Dalvin Cook is no longer in Minnesota because Cook isn't going to be a Viking this season. Mattison will be the clear-cut RB1 this season. Come June Cook will be heading elsewhere. Get in on Mattison before other people pick up on this because it's clear the fantasy community isn't on top of this situation yet, which is to be expected in May. We expect him to finish as a low-end RB2 this season.
Jamaal Williams, New Orleans Saints
Williams is another guy who should be shooting up draft boards. We don't know what this guy has to do for people to take him seriously. Somehow quietly, he rushed for over 1,000 yards and 17 TDs last season and now he is looking like the lead back in New Orleans. Alvin Kamara is looking at a suspension that will likely cost him at least six games in 2023. Combine that with the fact that the team already likes to limit Kamara's work between the tackles and gives TD opportunities to other backs and it's crazy that Williams is being drafted as an RB4. He needs to be going much higher.
Wide Receivers
Dionatae Johnson, Pittsburgh Steelers
We understand that a lot of people love George Pickens and hate Kenny Pickett, however, Johnson's ADP is disrespectful at this point. Pickett is going to be much better this year, and we say that confidently because he was much better at the end of last year. While Pickens may see more targets, Johnson is still the WR1. With all the QB issues last season, Johnson had his worst season since his rookie year and still caught 86 passes for over 880 yards. Look for him and the Steelers' offense to bounce back in a big way this season.
Rashee Rice, Kansas City Chiefs
We have been preaching about Rice at nauseum leading up to the draft and even more so after he was drafted by the Chiefs in the second round. He is currently being drafted as the WR63 and he is Patrick Mahomes' best wideout. What more needs to be said? Rice will be a top-three receiver in this class and should be drafted much higher than he his current ADP. There is no reason he shouldn't be drafted inside the top 50, and he has league-winning upside for the back half of the year.

Tight Ends
Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints
At what point do we just accept that Hill needs to be drafted higher as a TE? There is too much boom and upside here for him to be drafted at his current ADP which has him as the TE32. That's completely out of control. He finished as the TE3 last season. This is because he gets so many opportunities in so many different ways to score fantasy points. If you think that is going to change because Derek Carr is there now you're dead wrong. The Saints paid this man a lot of money to be a major contributor in their offense. In 2022, Hill had 96 carries, 13 targets, and 19 pass attempts which he turned into 892 yards and 11 TDs. It may not be conventional and it may not be consistent, but there is no excuse for him falling to his current ADP.
