It's time to go over some of the biggest NBA transactions, since several more have been announced since our last transaction roundup article.

Brown, George Swapped in Head-Turning Trade

In a wild trade, the Celtics sent Jaylen Brown to the 76ers. Boston got Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks in return. The 2028 first-round pick could convert to a pick swap, while the 2031 first-round selection is unprotected. The second-round picks are in 2028 and 2030.

I, along with many others, were baffled by this trade when it was announced. After sleeping on it, it's still not a very logical trade in my eyes.

It's a home run for the 76ers, who add Brown to an already talented roster. They get off the big George contract and add a better player and MVP candidate in Brown.

Throw in Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Dean Wade and Joel Embiid and you have a really, really good starting five in Philly. Rookie Labaron Philon Jr., Dominick Barlow, Adem Bona, Justin Edwards and others will fill out the roster.

The starting five is one of the best in the Eastern Conference now, but the depth is a little weak, at least in my opinion. A couple more good signings this offseason could make the 76ers a legit Eastern Conference contender in 2026-27.

Brown should be a big-time fantasy asset in Philly, just like he was in Boston. Maxey and Embiid are big-time players too, but I expect Philly to figure out a way to have all three players playing at high levels.

I'm really excited to see how this team looks this coming season. If the 76ers can stay healthy, they could definitely come out of the East.

I feel that Boston is going backward after this deal. George isn't the player he used to be, and the picks likely won't be very good ones.

Jayson Tatum is definitely the leader in Boston now. George should be a good fantasy asset, but again, he's not what he used to be, so expecting him to be a No. 2 option isn't super wise in my eyes.

Derrick White, Baylor Scheierman (or Payton Pritchard) and Mitchell Robinson are the expected other starters alongside Tatum and George. It's a solid starting five, but it's worse than it was with Brown there.

Pritchard (or Scheierman), Mike Conley, Hugo Gonzalez, Sam Hauser, Jordan Walsh, Neemias Queta and Luka Garza are among the reserve options.

It's a solid team overall, but it's just not as good after swapping Brown for George. I have to think there's more deals to come for Boston, because they are falling behind other Eastern Conference contenders this offseason.

Mavericks Land Aldama from Grizzlies

Dallas acquired Santi Aldama from Memphis. The Grizzlies are getting AJ Johnson, a 2030 protected first-round pick and two future second-round picks in return.

Aldama has been a solid asset over the past few seasons, and Memphis did pretty well in the deal for sending him away. He can start or come off the bench and add double-digit points and a healthy amount of rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.

Whether he starts or comes off the bench for Dallas, I expect Aldama to play enough to be a fantasy asset in some capacity. He should at least be a deep-league asset, and I'd expect him to work into standard leagues here and there too, especially if he's starting.

With Cooper Flagg emerging and Kyrie Irving coming back, Dallas should be better in 2026-27. Max Christie, P.J. Washington and Dereck Lively II are the other projected starters for now.

Ryan Nembhard, Klay Thompson, Daniel Gafford, rookies Morez Johnson Jr. and Sergio de Larrea, Naji Marshall and more are the bench options.

The Mavericks are on the rise, and are still building. Adding Aldama signals that the Mavs are hoping to at least compete for a playoff spot in the coming season. Better days are ahead still, but I see Dallas making a little noise in 2026-27.

Johnson is already joining his fourth NBA team, and he made his debut in the 2024-25 season. He hasn't gotten much playing time yet, so we'll see if he gets any in Memphis.

Down Aldama, that opens the door for Cameron Boozer to shine as a rookie. Isaiah Stewart was brought in via trade, and he and Taylor Hendricks will be the top reserve big men in Memphis.

Zach Edey is the center. Jerami Grant, Cedric Coward and Scotty Pippen Jr. are the other projected starters for the new-look Grizzlies. Johnson, Ty Jerome, Jaylen Wells, Javon Small, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, GG Jackson II, rookie Karim Lopez and Walter Clayton Jr. are some other reserve options.

It's an intriguing group of players that the Grizzlies have acquired. They are building for the long haul, but aren't likely to win a ton in 2026-27. We'll see if they can surprise.

Spurs Pick Up Harris

San Antonio signed Tobias Harris to a two-year deal worth $31 million.

Harris has regressed a bit over the years, but he gives the young Spurs' roster a veteran leader as they push for a NBA title. He's expected to start at power forward, and he should be a solid fantasy asset for the coming year.

Victor Wembanyama is going to power San Antonio, with help from De'Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle and Devin Vassell. I love that starting five.

Adding in Dylan Harper, Julian Champagnie, Luke Kornet, Keldon Johnson and more and the Spurs are a very talented roster overall. Another add or two could make them the favorites to win it all.

Oubre Headed to Indiana

The Pacers are signing Kelly Oubre Jr. to a two-year deal worth about $17 million.

Oubre could start or come off the bench for the Pacers, who should be much better in 2026-27 than they were this past season. Tyrese Haliburton being back definitely helps, and adding Ivica Zubac and Pascal Siakam makes the Pacers a formidable group again.

Aaron Nesmith and Andrew Nembhard are the other projected starters, with Oubre being a guard/forward reserve option. Oubre should be a good fantasy asset, regardless of whether he's starting or coming off the bench.

T.J. McConnell, Jarace Walker, Obi Toppin, Micah Potter, Jay Huff, Ben Sheppard and others will round out the roster. It's a pretty good assembly of talent, and means the Pacers should be in the playoffs again. They've proven to be dangerous if they get into the postseason, so all they are hoping for is a chance in 2026-27.

Nuggets Scoop Up Bagley

Denver is adding Marvin Bagley III to its roster on a one-year deal.

Bagley gives the Nuggets some needed big man depth. He should be a pretty solid fantasy asset, even though he's likely to come off the bench.

Nikola Jokic will cover most of the center minutes, with Aaron Gordon at power forward. Bagley should still play a healthy role after those two, and injuries could thrust Bagley into a bigger role too.

Throw in Cameron Johnson, Christian Braun and Jamal Murray and Denver still has a good starting five. Bagley adds to the reserve group that includes Julian Strawther, Peyton Watson, Spencer Jones and others. Another reserve add or two would help in the team's chances of making some serious noise in the West again this coming year.

Hayes Joining Jazz

Jaxson Hayes is headed to Utah on a two-year deal worth $12 million. There's a team option in the second year of the deal.

After trading Walker Kessler to the Lakers, the Jazz needed some center depth. Hayes adds that.

Jusuf Nurkic now looks destined to start for Utah at center. Hayes and Kyle Filipowski are other options there.

Jaren Jackson Jr. could also slide there, but should mostly be the power forward. Throw in Lauri Markkanen, rookie Darryn Peterson and Keyonte George and I think the Jazz could surprise a bit in 2026-27.

Hayes, Filipowski, Brice Sensabaugh, Ace Bailey, Isaiah Collier will provide help off the bench. It's a sneaky good team overall, now the pieces just have to mesh and stay healthy and the Jazz could make a playoff push this coming year.

Better days are ahead with all the picks the team has coming, but don't count the Jazz out from surprising a bit in the coming season.
