6 Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Options to Consider Monday: Clark, Mathews, and More

Max Clark - Detroit Tigers

Clark has been added in 2.4% of fantasy baseball leagues today. That brings his overall mark to 33.77%.

He has a four-game hitting streak going as the new week begins. He has a homer and double among his six hits in that stretch, plus two RBIs, five runs scored, four walks, three stolen bases and two strikeouts.

Clark is hitting .274 and getting on base at a .355 clip over 39 games and 154 plate appearances this season. He has eight doubles and three triples and homers among his 37 total hits, plus 18 RBIs, 20 runs scored, five stolen bases, 14 walks and 33 strikeouts.

The outfielder is on the rise as the season winds down, but he's a better deep-league fantasy asset at this point. He could be worth streaming in some standard leagues, but with so many outfielders out there, I'd guess there's better options available to you.

Quinn Mathews - St. Louis Cardinals

Mathews has risen 7.23% already today, and he sits at 21.05% owned overall as he prepares to make a start.

Mathews will start against the Giants on Monday night. That's a pretty favorable matchup on paper. He's allowed two or fewer runs in three straight starts, so that's more reason to possibly stream him today.

Mathews has had six starts this season, and he's 1-3 with a 4.11 earned run average so far. He has 28 strikeouts over 30 2/3 innings pitched. Like I mentioned earlier, Mathews has looked better of late, so that makes him a more appealing option than at first glance.

On a shorter day of MLB action, Mathews is even a better option. I'd prefer him most in deeper fantasy setups, but those desperate for pitching could consider him in standard leagues too.

Victor Mesa Jr. - Tampa Bay Rays

Mesa is up 5.74% today, and he's rostered in 22.08% of leagues overall now.

He has a nine-game hitting streak going right now, and he's collected 15 knocks over that stretch. Mesa has three doubles and homers in that span, plus a triple. He has eight RBIs, 10 runs scored, three stolen bases and four walks and strikeouts as well.

The outfielder has a .261 average and .330 OBP over 68 contests and 223 plate appearances this season. Among his 52 hits, Mesa has 13 home runs, six doubles and three triples, plus 30 RBIs, 32 runs scored, nine stolen bases, 20 walks and 44 strikeouts.

He may not look like the best waiver wire/streaming option, but his improved hitting of late makes him an option in all leagues. I like him best in deeper setups though, as again, there's plenty of fantasy outfielders out there to try in standard leagues.

Kade Anderson - Seattle Mariners

Anderson is rostered in 48.7% of leagues and is rising today as he gets ready to make a start.

He will face the Angels on Monday night. That's a great matchup for the rookie, with the only downside being that he's opposing Reid Detmers, who has pitched extremely well of late.

Anderson is rising as well after allowing just one run over six innings in his last outing. Across four MLB starts since getting called up, Anderson is 1-1 with a 4.29 ERA and 16 strikeouts over 21 innings pitched.

I like his matchup tonight and would be happy to stream Anderson in a ton of leagues. He's a very good option for any format, but isn't a must-start guy based on what we've seen from him so far.

Nolan Arenado - Arizona Diamondbacks

Arenado is rostered in 41.56% of leagues - he was at 39.87% yesterday. 

He has three two-hit games over his past four contests. Arenado has a homer among each of those multi-hit efforts, plus has five RBIs, four runs scored, three walks and two strikeouts.

Over 140 games and 549 plate appearances this season, Arenado has a .240 average and .319 OBP. He's got 117 total hits, including 25 homers, 23 doubles and a triple. Arenado has 73 RBIs, 70 runs scored, four stolen bases, 50 walks and 110 strikeouts.

The veteran third baseman has been a fantasy asset across all leagues at times this season. Arenado is hot at the dish right now, so he could be considered in any fantasy setup. Watch his numbers and be ready to move off him if he fades going forward.

Will Warren - New York Yankees

Warren has been picked up in 7.01% of leagues so far today. He's owned in 66.88% of leagues overall.

He will start against the Twins on Monday night. That's a pretty solid matchup, but Warren's numbers of late is why he's on the rise.

He's allowed one or no runs in three straight outings. Warren has allowed two or fewer runs in five straight appearances. Over 19 games pitched this season, Warren is 10-6, and he also has a hold. Over 142 1/3 innings, he owns a 4.05 ERA and 141 strikeouts.

Warren is a pretty good streaming option today, so he's worth at least considering in all leagues. He's not a must-start pitcher, but with how he's pitched of late, I'd have no issue firing him up in any leagues.
