Cold Streaks & Injury Concerns: Fantasy Baseball Drop Candidates
A fresh batch of fantasy baseball drop candidates, including injury concerns and underperforming assets trending downward.
It's time to go over a second round of fantasy baseball drop candidates of the week.
Here's the first story we did. We won't cover anyone from that article.
More droppable player data can be located on the waiver wire trends most dropped tab, which can be found on any fantasy baseball page here at FantasySP.

Carlos Correa - Houston Astros
Correa is down 5.7% already today. He sits at 79% overall now.
He suffered an ankle injury while taking batting practice on Tuesday, and sources are saying it's a significant injury. Correa could be out weeks, if not months, which obviously would drain his fantasy value.
He's droppable in standard leagues even if he is out just 10 days - the minimum IL stint. The longer Correa is out, the more droppable he becomes. He's been a good fantasy asset this season, but at a loaded shortstop position, he's also replaceable.
In 32 games and 141 plate appearances, Correa has a .279 average and .369 on-base percentage. He has 34 total hits, including eight doubles and three home runs. Correa has 16 RBIs, 22 runs scored, a stolen base, 18 walks and 26 strikeouts.
Watch his status and react accordingly, but Correa is at least droppable in some standard leagues today.
UPDATE: Correa has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. He can safely be dropped in all redraft leagues.
Bubba Chandler - Pittsburgh Pirates
Chandler is rostered in 68% of fantasy leagues right now. He was over 90% earlier in the season.
Chandler only allowed two runs in his start on Tuesday, but he also walked six batters, while only striking out four. He has 26 walks over 34 innings pitched this season, which is a huge issue.
The walks have hurt him and led to a 4.76 earned run average over his seven starts. Chandler is 1-4 and has allowed 19 runs (18 earned) on 25 hits, while striking out 31.
He needs to get his walks under control if he wants to fare better - and for a better fantasy outlook. Right now, Chandler is a better standard league streaming option. Keep rostering him in deeper leagues, but he could be droppable in those leagues if he doesn't get things turned around soon.
Yainer Diaz - Houston Astros
Diaz is down 2.7% and is owned in 49% of leagues overall now.
Diaz is another Astro who is dealing with an injury. He was placed on the 10-day injured list with an oblique injury. Diaz is expected to be out “a while,” which is never a good amount of time.
The catcher has a .238 average and .255 OBP over 26 contests and 106 plate appearances so far. Diaz has 24 total hits, along with 14 RBIs, seven runs scored, three walks and 16 strikeouts. He has two home runs and five doubles among the hits.
Diaz is droppable in all standard leagues right now. He could be held in deeper leagues, especially if you have IR spots to stash him in. Diaz hasn't done enough to keep rostering in really any leagues, so move on from him if you need to.
Dennis Santana - Pittsburgh Pirates
Santana is rostered in about 56% of leagues today, which is down from over 65% earlier in the season. He was over 65% until April 28.
Santana was tagged for two runs on three hits over an inning of work on Tuesday. He gave up four runs three appearances ago.
Santana now has a 4.02 ERA over 15 2/3 innings pitched. He's allowed eight runs (seven earned) on 12 hits and eight walks, while striking out 10. He is 2-2 with two saves, two blown saves and two holds.
He's failed to record a save in any of his past seven appearances, so I'm really surprised he's still owned in as many leagues as he is. Santana is just a deep-league asset for the time being, so treat him as such.
Tanner Bibee - Cleveland Guardians
Bibee has been let go in 3.2% of leagues, and is now rostered in 78% overall. He was over 90% rostered earlier in the season.
He allowed four runs over four innings in his last start. Bibee had been good in the three starts before that though. He has only allowed over three runs in two of his eight starts.
He's reached six innings just twice though, and failed to get to five innings in four outings now. Add is less than a strikeout per inning and a 1.48 WHIP and you should be able to see why Bibee is a drop candidate today.
Bibee is a fine deep-league asset yet, but he's trending toward being a standard league streamer only. If you see a waiver wire option you like, I'd be fine moving on from Bibee. Keep tabs on him in case he bounces back later this season.
