Should You Add Daulton Varsho?

Varsho is up 4.11% today, which brings his overall mark to 33.74%.

Varsho has gone hitless in back-to-back games, and has six strikeouts over that span - he has at least walked once. He's been up and down this month, tallying hits in just five games this month, but recording multiple hits in each of those appearances.

For the season across 38 games and 152 plate appearances, Varsho has a .235 average and .296 on-base percentage. He's popped 13 homers and tallied a triple and seven doubles among his 32 total knocks. Varsho has 23 runs scored, 34 RBIs, a stolen base, 13 walks and 47 strikeouts.

The Toronto center fielder is set up for fantasy success, usually hitting fifth in the lineup. That gives him a chance to drive in a lot of runs.

Varsho is a bit too inconsistent for my liking, but he's a fine fantasy asset in deeper leagues. He can be a depth outfield option, who is capable of providing some pop and being an occasional starter for you. Varsho is also a good starting option when he's in a groove at the plate.

So if you can get by without him during some of his cold stretches at the plate, then it makes sense to add Varsho in some leagues. He's not a must-add waiver bat, but instead of adding and dropping him the rest of the season, some can afford to gamble on him and stash him on their bench.

Should You Add Alec Bohm?

Bohm is also up 4.11% - he sits at 82.3% overall.

Bohm is back on the field after a long absence. He played on Sunday and Monday, after sitting out since mid-July.

He has three hits, including a homer, in his first two games back. Bohm has three RBIs, two runs scored and no walks or strikeouts yet.

It's been a bit of a disappointing season for Bohm, with the injury factoring into that. Bohm has played in 94 games now and gotten 393 plate appearances overall.

He has a .279 average and .326 OBP, along with 45 RBIs, 41 runs scored, two stolen bases, 22 walks and 62 strikeouts. Among Bohm's 101 total hits, he has 12 doubles, two triples and nine home runs.

Bohm has hit fourth and fifth in his first two games back, so those are favorable spots for his fantasy outlook. He's already looking good at the plate, so he's worth re-adding in a lot of the leagues he got dropped in while he was out with the injury.

He's likely eligible at first and third base, which is another plus for his fantasy outlook. More importantly, he's going to be playing daily and hitting in the heart of the lineup.

Bohm can be added back in a lot of standard leagues. First base is a stacked position, but third base is lacking a bit. If you need help at both spots, adding Bohm now is a no-brainer.

He might not ever get back to 100% rostered, but he's worth owning in just about every standard league, especially if he's hitting enough down the stretch. Add him before it's too late.

Should You Add Colt Keith?

Keith is rostered in 31% of leagues right now - he's been sitting near 20-25% most of the month.

I was just thinking about Keith yesterday and was wondering why I hadn't heard much from him. Well today, he's back on the rise, with an ongoing five-game hitting streak being part of the reason why. He has a homer and three doubles among seven knocks in that span, and also has three RBIs, six runs scored, a stolen base, two walks and three strikeouts over that stretch.

Really, Keith has been pretty solid at the plate since July 30. He has 20 hits over 16 games since - among the hits, Keith has three homers and four doubles. He also has eight RBIs, 13 runs scored, a stolen base, six walks and 11 strikeouts.

You can see a lot of his production has come over the past five days, and part of that is because he's hitting leadoff when he's in the lineup. He sits against lefties a good amount though, so that limits his potential fantasy upside a bit.

For the season, Keith has a .268 average and .348 OBP over 113 games and 388 plate appearances - it's been a modest improvement from his rookie season in 2024. He has 20 doubles, 11 homers and two triples among his 91 total knocks, and he also has 39 RBIs, 56 runs scored, a stolen base, 43 walks and 79 strikeouts to his name.

Something else working in his favor is some defensive versatility. Keith has played first, second and third base this season.

Between the position versatility and overall numbers, I'm a bit surprised to see his own percentage as low as it is. I think he's worth rostering in more deeper leagues. I think he tops out as a deep-league asset, but I'd expect him to be closer to 40% owned with all things considered.

See if Keith could help you out down the stretch.

Should You Add Jose Caballero?

Caballero has been added in 3.33% of leagues and is now owned in 21.85% of leagues.

He has five hits over his past three games for the Yankees. Caballero has no extra-base hits among those knocks, while also tallying an RBI, four stolen bases and runs scored and two walks and strikeouts in that stretch.

In 10 games and 21 plate appearances since joining the Yankees at the deadline, Caballero has a .333 average and .400 OBP. He has a double among his six hits, an RBI, five runs scored and stolen bases, two walks and three strikeouts.

He's started three straight games, hitting ninth in each contest. The Yankees have a good enough lineup to make anyone starting a decent fantasy asset. Caballero might not drive in many runs, but he has the chance to get on base, steal some bases and score some runs.

He also can play all over the field, appearing at second and third base, shortstop and all three outfield spots this season. That makes him a solid add in deeper leagues.

Caballero won't ever be a massive fantasy asset because of his lack of power, but if he's playing daily and producing like he has of late, some deep-league owners could benefit from adding him. Give him a look.

Should You Add Victor Vodnik?

Vodnik is up 4.94% and is owned in 19.75% of leagues overall.

He's been on a tear in the month of August. He's appeared in seven games, earning four saves, a win and a hold so far. Vodnik has allowed two runs (in one game), while striking out eight over 7 1/3 innings.

There hasn't been a Colorado reliever worth owning in fantasy leagues most of the season, but Vodnik is definitely worth a look with how he's pitching of late.

He's just a deep-league asset for now, and he'll likely top out as one because of how little winning Colorado does. The team has been better since August 12, and Vodnik has five appearances since.

I don't anticipate that continuing, but Vodnik is still worth an add for some of you in deeper leagues. We'll cover closers later in the week, so we'll see if Vodnik is still on the rise by then.
