Kyle Stowers is Most-Added Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Hitter at Start of New Week

After looking at weekly projections to identify fantasy baseball waiver wire targets, let's look at a few of the most-added fantasy players in more detail.

We'll start with hitters in this article - check back later for a pitcher writeup.

Check out the top fantasy baseball waiver wire options everyday on FantasySP.

Should You Add Kyle Stowers?

Stowers was part of a waiver story near the end of last week, and he's the top waiver wire option at the time of publication. Stowers is up 12.72% and is sitting at 50.37% overall.

Over his past four games, he has eight hits, including four home runs. Across 31 games and 124 plate appearances this season, Stowers has a .321 average and .387 on-base percentage.

Stowers has six homers, four doubles and a triple among his 35 total knocks, along with 12 walks. He has 25 RBIs, two stolen bases, 18 runs scored and 34 strikeouts as well.

His hot streak and power surge at the plate is getting him some fantasy attention, but his season-long numbers suggest he should already be a more-owned fantasy asset.

Stowers has batted second or fifth over his past five starts, which is a favorable spot for a fantasy hitter, even if he's not in a good lineup. He started against a left-handed starter on Sunday, which is another plus for the left-handed hitting outfielder.

Stowers was undervalued before last week, and now he's around the correct own percentage. He should be rostered and utilized in most deeper leagues, at least until he cools off.

We don't really have much MLB history to go off of with Stowers, so it's possible this level of play can be sustained. His numbers are likely to regress a little as the season moves along, but he could remain a daily option in deep leagues at least.

Standard league owners need to keep a close eye on him, and he should be considered if he stays hot and keeps popping homers.

Should You Add Javier Baez?

Baez is back on the waiver list with some more strong hitting. He's up to 42% rostered now after a 4.79% increase.

He's hitting .309 and getting on base at a .350 clip across 28 games and 100 plate appearances. Baez has seven doubles and three homers among his 29 total knocks, along with 14 RBIs, a stolen base, four walks, 14 runs scored and 23 strikeouts.

Baez is turning back the clock and looking like he did in a couple of his seasons with the Cubs before the 2020s. Another nice thing with Baez and his hot hitting is that he's now eligible at multiple positions. He's playing 14 games in center field, along with 12 games at third base and six at shortstop.

That added position versatility is a nice fantasy bonus for Baez, who is all of a sudden a really solid deep-league piece. I think he's eventually going to see his numbers regress and thus be a deep-league option at best, but he's worth tracking because of his previous MLB success.

Add Baez if you have a roster spot to play with in deeper leagues, or need help at one of his eligible fantasy positions. Ride with Baez until his numbers or playing time decrease.

Should You Add Maikel Garcia?

Garcia was another hitter who appeared in a waiver wire article last week. He's up 3.75% today, bringing his overall total to 83.21%.

He has a .319 average and .379 OBP across 34 games and 132 plate appearances this season. Garcia has nine doubles and four homers among his 38 total hits, along with 14 RBIs, seven stolen bases, 12 walks, 14 runs scored and 19 strikeouts.

Garcia has three-hit outings in back-to-back appearances, and has four multi-hit efforts over his past five games. He's got four extra-base hits among his 11 hits in that span.

He should also have some position versatility to take advantage of. Garcia has played 22 games at third base, with nine appearances at second, five in center field and one at shortstop and right field.

After a down 2024 season, Garcia looks more like his 2023 self, when he hit .272 and got on base at a .323 clip. Garcia was a daily starter in a lot of leagues in 2023, and he's in the same boat right now.

I think he's a bit undervalued still, but he's owned in enough leagues now. His own percentage will only continue to grow if he keeps racking up hits and getting on base. In short time, he could be rostered in all leagues.

I'm not quite ready to call him a must-own player, but Garcia is definitely trending in that direction. Keep a very close eye on him if he's still available in your league.

Should You Add Hyeseong Kim?

Kim was a highly-regarded international signing by the Dodgers this offseason. He didn't make the loaded roster out of spring training, but was called up over the weekend.

Kim is up 3.33% today and is now rostered in 26.8% of leagues.

Kim has appeared in two games so far, but has only played an inning in each contest. He hasn't logged a plate appearance, but does have a steal to his name.

It seems weird that the Dodgers would call him up to sit the bench, but that's what's happened so far. I bet he'll get a start or two this week, at least.

In 28 games and 131 plate appearances in Triple-A before his callup, Kim had a .252 average and .328 OBP. He had eight doubles, five homers and a triple among his 29 total hits, along with 19 RBIs, 13 stolen bases, 22 runs scored, 10 walks and 32 strikeouts.

He could be a very well-rounded fantasy player in due time, he just needs the opportunity to show off his talent. Kim was a star overseas, hitting .304 and getting on base at a .364 clip across eight seasons.

Kim is worth adding and stashing in deeper redraft leagues. He could be a daily fantasy asset before too long. Kim is worth keeping an eye on in standard leagues too, but will need a week or more of solid production and playing time before he's seriously considered as a possible waiver pickup.

Should You Add Coby Mayo?

Mayo is a highly-regarded Baltimore prospect who got called up over the weekend. He's owned in 21.9% of leagues after a 2.34% boost today.

Mayo has six plate appearances across his first two games. He has no hits, a walk and two strikeouts. Mayo had four singles and walks across 46 plate appearances in 17 games played in 2024.

Mayo has put up monster numbers over his minor league career. Across parts of five seasons, Mayo has a .281 average and .379 OBP in 418 games and 1,802 plate appearances. He has 112 doubles, 11 triples and 88 homers across his 432 total hits, along with 304 RBIs, 26 stolen bases, 220 walks, 285 runs scored, 26 stolen bases and 431 strikeouts.

He's proved what he's needed to in Triple-A - now he just needs to get going at the big league level. Mayo is just a deep-league stash option in redraft formats until he proves he can hang with the big boys though.

It hasn't come together yet for Mayo, but if it ever does, he could become a daily fantasy starter in all leagues. Keep very close tabs on Mayo and add him as he starts to produce consistently.
