Can Young Pitchers Tobias Myers and Shane Smith Come Up Big on a Slow Fantasy Baseball Streaming Monday?
Four starting pitchers in action on Monday who are widely available in fantasy leagues and have good matchups.
We have a somewhat light schedule today, with just 10 games on the MLB docket. That means one-third of the league has the day off, making it tougher to build your fantasy lineup and find streamers, both in the field and on the mound. Of the 12 teams I'm looking to target for the next week or so, seven are off today; that makes streamers scarcer than on a normal day.
Let's look at four starting pitchers in action on Monday who are widely available in fantasy leagues and have good matchups. Most stats are from MLB.com, as are the probable pitchers. The full streamer rankings are listed at the bottom.

Jake Irvin, Washington Nationals vs. Cleveland Guardians
Irvin is average with walks and a little worse than average with strikeouts; that describes a lot of big-league pitchers. We find those pitchers showing up on the streaming list often because they aren't owned in many fantasy leagues unless they are elite at run prevention. Irvin is close to your typical pitcher, for better and worse.
The Guardians are a target but more on the borderline than a must-attack team. They are in the bottom 10 in runs, hits, doubles, batting average, and on-base percentage. They have the 11th-worst slugging percentage and OPS, showing they have plenty of reach among the worst offenses.
Irvin is a low- to mid-level streamer. This is a level of streamer that shows up often, as I mentioned above that Irvin falls into a very large player pool (and it will be popular below). You can probably find a better way to use your innings at some point during the season.
Miles Mikolas, St. Louis Cardinals vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
Mikolas is very good with walks but well below average with strikeouts. That latter note is especially concerning this season, as Mikolas has a K% of 13.4% versus the league average around 22%. That number should rise a little bit, but his career rate is only 17.4%, so Mikolas can't be counted on for big numbers there.
Pittsburgh is one of three teams who are worth considering every day (along with the White Sox and Rockies when they aren't at Coors Field). The Pirates are in the bottom 10 in essentially every offensive stat, and they are tied for seventh in most batter strikeouts. This is a team likely to stay near this level all season.
Mikolas is another low- to mid-level streamer. The great matchup mixed with a lack of strikeouts gets him there, though the extra-low K rate brings him down a little lower than a guy like Irvin.
Tobias Myers, Milwaukee Brewers vs. Houston Astros
Myers has appeared in just three games (two starts) and accumulated seven innings after starting the season on the IL. The results haven't been great: six hits and four runs allowed, seven walks, and six strikeouts. He was a lot better last year (his rookie season), so there's hope for improvement as he gets a few more innings under his belt.
Houston is another decent target who doesn't quite fall as far as some of the others (in the same group as Cleveland). They are in the bottom 12 in runs, hits, doubles, home runs, walks, slugging percentage, and OPS. They are closer to 20th than 30th in a lot of those areas, though, making them better than those bottom squads.
Myers is yet another low- to mid-level streamer. He has a higher ceiling, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him with a better outing, but Myers hasn't looked good in his short 2025 time, so it's best to keep expectations in check.
Shane Smith, Chicago White Sox @ Kansas City Royals
Kansas City was a clear bottom-10 offensive team in 2023. They made a jump to an above-average offense last year, and it made sense that they would continue those good vibes led by MVP-level Bobby Witt Jr. Teams in every sport usually regress toward the mean after a big fall or rise, though, and the Royals are following that trend early, putting them firmly back in the bottom 10 so far in 2025.
Smith has thrown his first 32.1 career innings in six starts this year, allowing just 23 hits and 10 runs (eight earned), for a 2.23 ERA. He has been just a little worse than average with both walks and strikeouts, but Smith has had a successful start to the season. He did better with strikeouts in the minors, so there's some hope he could improve there.
Smith is, once again, a low- to mid-level streamer. He'll jump another notch if his K work comes through, but he has more of a questionable ceiling right now.
