Hey folks. Today, the injury list brings mixed news across the league, with one Capitals' forward trending toward missed time, while Seattle inches closer to getting a key forward back into the lineup. Colorado also absorbs a notable hit as the Avalanche deal with two injuries, including a scary upper-body injury to their captain, raising concern given his history of serious setbacks and his upcoming role in the Olympics with Team Sweden.

There is some good news, though, as Columbus fantasy managers are already seeing the payoff from a superstar defenseman's return. With two strong back to back performances since rejoining the lineup, his presence is reshaping blue line value.

If you're managing IR spots or hunting short-term coverage, here's how each situation should guide your next roster move. Let's dive right into the latest injury updates from around the league.

Tom Wilson - Washington Capitals

Wilson was forced out of Saturday's game against the Chicago Blackhawks after sustaining a lower-body injury and did not return following an awkward fall after being hit by Connor Murphy. The Capitals have yet to provide a detailed update, but any missed time from Wilson immediately impacts Washington's physical identity and fantasy managers relying on his elite multi-category profile.

Wilson has long been a bangers league staple, and his recent selection to Team Canada only reinforced how strong his overall game has been this season. He continues to deliver across hits, shots, penalty minutes, and secondary scoring, placing him among the most valuable category fillers in fantasy formats that reward physical play. Given his importance to the lineup and his international responsibilities, there is some hope that Washington is taking a cautious approach rather than dealing with a long-term concern.

From a fantasy perspective, Wilson is difficult to replace directly due to his unique category coverage. If he misses time, managers should prioritize short-term physical volume over pure scoring, particularly in hits and shots. This is a situation to monitor closely, but for now, Wilson remains a hold in all formats, with IR usage recommended if the Capitals confirm a short-term absence.

Wilson has 22 goals, 20 assists, and nine powerplay points in 41 games played as a forward. He also has 97 shots on goal, 110 hits, and 24 blocked shots.

Devon Toews - Colorado Avalanche

Toews sustained a lower-body injury over the weekend against the Carolina Hurricanes, with Colorado offering little in the way of follow up detail. The lack of clarity is notable, particularly with Toews being the second Team Canada named player on this list dealing with an injury where specifics remain scarce. Until the Avalanche provide more information, his status remains one to monitor closely.

Team Canada recently confirmed it will roll back the same eight defensemen from the Four Nations Face-Off for the Olympics, and Toews remains one of the more debated selections among that group. His overall play this season has been solid but unspectacular, especially when compared to Washington's Jakob Chychrun, who has arguably had the stronger year and could be called upon if Toews' injury turns into something longer term. That context adds an extra layer of intrigue to this situation beyond standard fantasy implications.

From a fantasy standpoint, Colorado's depth helps cushion the blow. The Avalanche can absorb Toews' absence without major disruption, limiting the short-term upside for replacement options. Still, Toews' steady minutes, powerplay exposure, and peripheral contributions make his absence notable in deeper formats. Fantasy managers should treat this as a short-term hold and be prepared with coverage if updates trend toward missed time, rather than reacting prematurely.

Toews has one goal, 12 assists, and 18 penalty minutes in 40 games played as a defensemen. He also has 68 shots on goal, 14 hits, and 58 blocked shots.

Jaden Schwartz - Seattle Kraken

Schwartz has missed a significant chunk of the season as the Kraken have struggled to find consistency, dealing with both a losing record and a mounting list of injuries. Schwartz has recently begun skating with the team in a non-contact jersey, a strong indication that his return is imminent and that Seattle could soon get a much needed offensive boost.

The Kraken remain short handed, with notable defensemen Brandon Montour still sidelined after a strong start to the season. That context matters, but Schwartz's return alone has the potential to stabilize Seattle's forward group. Prior to being injured, Schwartz was producing at an excellent offensive rate, providing reliable scoring and solid shot volume while logging meaningful minutes.

From a fantasy perspective, Schwartz is worth a proactive add if he was not already stashed. If he can pick up anywhere close to where he left off, he immediately becomes relevant in standard formats, particularly for managers needing short-term offense. Look for Seattle to see an immediate uptick in production with this forward returning to the lineup.

Schwartz has eight goals, seven assists, and three powerplay points in 23 games played as a forward. He also has 48 shots on goal, 24 hits, and 19 blocked shots.

Gabriel Landeskog - Colorado Avalanche

Landeskog, Colorado's captain and Sweden's Olympic representative, suffered an upper-body injury in the second period against the Florida Panthers. The veteran had to be helped off the ice after losing his footing, crashing into the goalpost, and coming to rest in front of the end boards, remaining on the ice for over a minute. He was unable to skate off on his own, raising understandable concern given his history of serious injuries and multiple seasons lost to prior setbacks.

This is Landeskog's first full season back from what was nearly a career-ending injury, making any missed time particularly concerning for both the Avalanche and fantasy managers. He remains a pivotal presence on Colorado's top lines and powerplay units, meaning his absence would have immediate implications for scoring, secondary stats, and category coverage.

From a fantasy perspective, Landeskog's status should be monitored closely. Even a short-term absence would likely require temporary replacement in all formats, though Colorado's depth helps mitigate the overall production loss. Managers who rely on his scoring and veteran presence should prepare contingency plans while updates are awaited, but there is hope that the team is assessing this carefully rather than rushing him back. He has played all season on the top line alongside longtime friend and franchise forward Nathan MacKinnon.

Landeskog has seven goals, 15 assists, and three powerplay points in 41 games played as a forward. He also has 87 shots on goal, 60 hits, and 18 blocked shots.

Zach Werenski - Columbus Blue Jackets

Werenski returned to the lineup over the weekend after missing four games with a lower-body injury and wasted no time reestablishing his elite fantasy value. The Blue Jackets' defensemen appeared in two games and delivered immediately, posting four points while logging heavy minutes in all situations.

Werenski remains the unquestioned cornerstone of Columbus' blue line and one of the top defensemen in the league when healthy. His ability to drive offense from the back end, combined with strong shot volume and consistent powerplay usage, makes him a difference maker in every fantasy format. The seamless nature of his return is an encouraging sign that the injury is behind him rather than something that will linger.

From a fantasy standpoint, Werenski should be treated as a full go. Managers who held through the absence are already being rewarded. With his role and production unchanged, Werenski resumes status as an every night starter and a pillar of fantasy blue lines.

Werenski has 15 goals, 29 assists, and 10 powerplay points in 37 games played as a defensemen. He also has 139 shots on goal, 18 hits, and 53 blocked shots.
