Hey folks, today we are talking about waiver wire targets that are outside of the “just pick up any New Jersey Devils or Utah Mammoth player.” Most of these are not guys who you would expect to be on this list, but they have had phenomenal streaks going their last five or so games.

Additionally, we have a long-term injury return who was dropped a lot during his absence but has already come out of the gate with a bang.

Let's dive right into this week's top waiver wire picks who mostly share a low roster percent and could still be available for you to pick up.

Make sure to check out our new Fantasy Hockey Projections. Outlooks at your fingertips that always give you an in-depth snapshot and an accurate outlook of what you expect from every player - all season long. Powered by AI; refined by our experts.

Mark Stone - Vegas Golden Knights

Potentially the most lethal player in the league per game, Stone has returned to play two games and continued his point streak with a goal per game. Stone was gone the majority of the season after an early-season injury that saw him sidelined with huge momentum that could have gone the other way, but the aging veteran has found a way to continue to put the puck in the net and seemingly has picked up where he left off.

Stone has returned to a top-six role with top unit powerplay time alongside superstars Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner. Sharing the ice with these two will only help his already (nearly) two-point-per-game production. If Stone is still available in your league, grab him immediately before hitting the taco stand, as for some awful reason, he was dropped in about 25% of leagues while he was on IR.

Stone has four goals, 11 assists, and nine powerplay points in just eight games as a forward. He also has 24 shots on goal, five hits, and five blocked shots.

Ben Chiarot - Detroit Red Wings

Coming off of a $5K fine from the NHL for butt-ending New Jersey Devils defenseman Simon Nemec. But that's not all he has been in the news for, as Chiarot is quietly putting together a peripheral season of a lifetime.

Despite his only second line pairing role, and limited special teams ice time on the second penalty kill unit, Chiarot is a plus player at +2 on the season and has put in an elite level of hits and blocked shots this season.

Chiarot has also shown some inconsistent flashes of scoring production, with a modest seven points so far this campaign. Considering last season he had 13 points, he is poised to beat this number and is really showing some value in deeper leagues. I would keep my eye on him to bolster your blueline and consider his high floor based on his peripheral output so far.

Chiarot has three goals, four assists, and 28 penalty minutes in 25 games played as a defenseman. He also has 30 shots on goal, 61 hits, and 56 blocked shots.

Filip Hronek - Vancouver Canucks

At a less than 50% roster rate, frolic on over to Vancouver and pick up Hronek from the apple orchard as this blueliner continues to pile up assists on the high-flying Canucks.

This defenseman is also good for decent peripherals, as he is averaging almost two hits per game and adding in shots and blocked shots to boot. Hronek is proving that his floor remains high and rostering him has little to no risk should his production remain steady.

Oh, and let's not forget he is getting top pairing minutes alongside franchise captain Quinn Hughes and adds to his elite deployment with getting special teams looks on both the second powerplay unit and the top penalty kill unit.

Hronek has two goals, 14 assists, and five powerplay points in 25 games played as a defenseman. He also has 34 shots on goal, 46 hits, and 37 blocked shots.

Tyson Foerster - Philadelphia Flyers

A Flyer, I know. I can't believe it either. But let's give credit where credit is due. The Flyers have been grinding all season and have been rewarded with the top wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference.

Foerster is having a decent showing so far this season, and he is being rewarded with top-line minutes alongside Noah Cates and powerforward Travis Konecny. While this top spot may not be solidified, he has certainly taken advantage of it while future franchise player Matvei Michkov struggles and has been suiting up for a middle six role.

Foerster has also been getting looks on the top powerplay unit, but his position here is not solidified either as he has been bounced up and down between the top and second units. That said, his value is only as good as his offensive production because his peripherals (or lack there or) can be a liability.

I suggest riding him while he is getting top powerplay time, and deployment on the top forward line alongside Konecny, but be mindful that he may get bumped down the lineup if Michkov heats up or finds his form from last season.

Foerster has nine goals, three assists, and two powerplay points in 19 games played as a forward. He also has 37 shots on goal, 17 hits, and 17 blocked shots.

Dan Vladar - Philadelphia Flyers

Continuing the Flyers train, the former Calgary Flame is having a much better season than his former tandem partner, Dustin Wolf. Somehow, despite the defensive lapses of the Flyers, Vladar has put up really good numbers in net, with Samuel Ersson not challenging him for a significant amount of starts.

Vladar seems to have a firm hold on the net, with the timing perfect for a breakout season in his first year in Philadelphia. Stuck behind Wolf last year, a fresh start is exactly what he needed, and he is making the most of it.

He is only rostered in about 35% of leagues; if you need a depth starter look no further. While he is not a workhorse who will have 60+ starts by the end of the season, he should be good for at least 50.

What's more is the team in front of him lets a ton of shots through, so even though you may not be guaranteed wins with every start, you'll likely still net points with the amount of stops he is forced to make.

Vladar has nine wins in 14 games started as a goaltender. He also has a .913 save percentage, 2.39 goals against average, and zero shutouts.
