Fantasy Football Week 8 Drop Candidates: Johnson, Jones Among Top Candidates
These six fantasy football players are losing value after Week 7, but some are still worth holding in some leagues.
After looking into some Week 8 fantasy football waiver wire targets, and injuries, let's now dive into some possible drop candidates after Week 7.
We have several players to discuss, so let's dive right into things!
The Fantasy Sports Assistant can now answer questions you have after doing team breakdowns or waiver wire analysis!
Juwan Johnson - New Orleans Saints
Johnson was rostered in nearly 86% of leagues for Week 7, but will be let go in a bunch of leagues heading into Week 8.
He started the season hot, tallying over 50 receiving yards in the first four games - he caught three touchdowns over that stretch. In the three games since, Johnson combined for 23 yards on five catches and 10 targets, and hasn't found the end zone.
He was excelling as a secondary option in the passing game after Chris Olave, but that's faded over the past few weeks. With Jordyn Tyson nearing a season debut, Johnson's role likely isn't going to bounce back, especially with Devaughn Vele also carving out a weekly pass-catching role.
Johnson remains a streaming option at a weak fantasy position, but he's no longer a player to hold, so feel free to drop him going into Week 8.

Aaron Jones Sr. - Minnesota Vikings
Jones was owned in most leagues for Week 7, but after an injury and lackluster outing, that's sure to drop before Week 8.
After getting 20-plus touches in all four games without Mason around, Jones logged just nine in Week 7. He also picked up a knee injury, so he's got a couple of things working against him.
Jones could still be involved enough behind Mason to be a standard league flex option at times, but he's lost a lot of fantasy appeal in the past week, and that makes him droppable in some leagues.
I'd move on from Jones if I was set at running back, or if there's a waiver wire back out there that you like more. Jones should be held in deeper leagues, but he can be moved on from in some standard leagues.
Germie Bernard - Pittsburgh Steelers
Bernard was rostered in nearly all leagues after a couple of big games in a row, but a down performance will see him get let go in some leagues before Week 8.
After combining for 167 yards and a score on 17 catches and 21 targets in Weeks 5 and 6, Bernard finished with just 27 yards on three grabs and five targets in Week 7.
He was still on the field a bunch, he just didn't deliver at the same production level he had the previous two games. That makes sense as he's the WR2 behind DK Metcalf.
I still like Bernard and his outlook enough to keep rostering him in all leagues. He's a flex-level option every week, especially in favorable matchups. I'd wait another week before considering dropping the rookie.
Marvin Harrison - Houston Texans
Harrison is sitting at 85% rostered right now. He was lower than that before he got traded, but got a boost in hopes of more success with his new squad. That hasn't happened, so he's a drop candidate now.
In his first two games with the Texans, Harrison has combined for 40 yards and a score on four catches and eight targets. That's simply not enough production.
He's a better deep-league asset right now, so he's droppable in standard leagues. Harrison needs to be monitored, as he could eventually take off, but I think he's a waste of a roster spot right now.
Look elsewhere for fantasy wideout help right now. Harrison should just be starting in deeper leagues until further notice.
Chris Godwin - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Godwin is rostered in 72% of leagues right now. He's been lower than that this season, but got a boost in Week 7, with the return of Baker Mayfield playing into that.
He tallied 27 yards on four catches and five targets in Week 7 with Mayfield back. He hasn't topped 50 yards in a game this year, and he's still yet to find the end zone.
Godwin is another to let go in standard leagues, as he's just not producing enough. He should stick in deeper leagues, but is even just a flex-level option in those setups.
Keep tabs on him in case he ever goes off, but it seems unlikely at this point, and he can be avoided until then.
Tyler Allgeier - Arizona Cardinals
Allgeier is sitting at 77% rostered right now. He's been up and down of late, but is going to trend down now as Week 8 approaches.
He had a chance to shine the past couple of weeks with Jeremiyah Love out with an injury, but combined for just 56 yards on 26 rushing attempts - he had four receptions across five targets for 40 yards to add a little more value, but it was still underwhelming considering the circumstances.
He's another player who is a better deep-league asset right now. He's not a startable guy even with Love out though, but he's worth stashing in case Love misses more time.
We'll see if Allgeier can ever get rolling. For now, he's skippable in most leagues, and Bam Knight is the Arizona backup RB with a little intrigue.
