Trade Details and Stats

The Patriots are landing Brown from the Eagles in the latest blockbuster NFL deal.

New England is giving up a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick. The fifth round pick is the better of New England's two fifths that year.

It's a deal that's been speculated about for months, and it's finally official. Before we break down the deal from a real-world and fantasy football perspective, let's discuss some stats for Brown.

Brown is a 28-year-old (closing in on 29) wide receiver who was drafted 51st overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.

He started with the Titans and played for three years in Tennessee. Brown then joined the Eagles, where he spent the past four years of his career. Now, Brown gets a chance to join his old coach Mike Vrabel, and the Super Bowl runner-ups from last year.

Brown has played in 105 games in his seven-year career. He has 8,029 receiving yards on 524 receptions and 816 targets. Brown has 56 receiving touchdowns.

He hasn't been used a ton as a “ball carrier” but he does have 70 yards and a score on five official carries over his career.

Brown On the Patriots

Adding Brown to the mix is a big boost for the Patriots. They are an up-and-coming team, and adding a veteran like Brown is a boost in the real world, and he changes the fantasy football complexion in New England as well.

Brown will be the undisputed No. 1 wideout for New England.

Romeo Doubs and Kayshon Boutte are the other projected starting wideouts for the Pats. The team also has Kyle Williams, Mack Hollins, DeMario Douglas, Efton Chism (among others) in the wideout room.

Brown is definitely the most accomplished wide receiver of that bunch, so he should grab hold of the No. 1 WR role and lead the team all season.

That makes Brown the top fantasy wideout in New England, and I'm curious exactly where he's going to go in drafts before the 2026 season. I think the change of scenery is a plus for Brown.

The main reason I like the change of teams is because of the quarterbacks Brown had throwing to him. Jalen Hurts has been a good fantasy QB over the years, but he's a better runner than a passer when it comes to his fantasy prowess. Joining Drake Maye in New England gives Brown a legit passer to work with, and it sets Brown up to maybe have some career seasons in New England.

The trade for Brown is a plus for Maye, as he gets a legit No. 1 wideout to throw to now.

It hurts the fantasy outlooks for all the other wide receivers, especially Doubs, who looked to be WR1 before this trade. Now Doubs might just be a standard league streaming option, or top out as a deep-league asset most often.

Guys like Boutte, Williams, Douglas, Hollins and Chism were probably deep-league assets before, and this trade doesn't help matters.

At tight end, the Pats have Hunter Henry leading the way. He takes a slight hit from this trade, but I still think Henry could be the second- or third-best pass catcher on the team, which would result in Henry being a solid fantasy asset still.

As for the backfield, which is led by Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson, I don't see the Brown trade impacting either back too much. It could actually work in their favor, as defenses have to focus on the passing game more now.

All-in-all, I like this trade for the Patriots in the real world. As for the fantasy football world, it definitely switches a lot of things up, and it might only help Maye and the running backs. We'll see how ADPs are affected after the dust settles on this trade.

Eagles Without Brown

This trade has been expected in Philly all offseason, so even down Brown now, the wide receiver room isn't decimated. It definitely hurts the team in the real world, but it opens the door for several players to be bigger fantasy assets now.

DeVonta Smith is the veteran wideout in Philly now. First-round pick Makai Lemon now has a clearer path to playing time, and could star in his rookie year. Dontayvion Wicks is the other projected starting wide receiver.

Johnny Wilson, Darius Cooper, Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore are among the other wideouts on the roster for now. They will all have better chances to carve out roles now that Brown is gone.

The biggest beneficiaries in the wideout room will be Smith and Lemon. Both could be standard league fantasy assets in 2026, but it depends on how Hurts and the passing game looks.

Wicks looks like a better deep-league fantasy asset right now, but he could maybe work into standard leagues if Lemon starts slow. The “other” wideouts are more depth options, so they are just deep leaguers as well, but injuries could help them to bigger roles and more fantasy production.

Dallas Goedert is a good option at tight end, and should be the third passing target when he's out there. Second-round pick Eli Stowers could also carve out a role, which is why I'm not super high on Wicks, or the secondary wide receivers.

The trade hurts the fantasy stock of Hurts in the passing game. It could mean he runs more, so I don't see if altering his fantasy outlook too negatively.

Saquon Barkley is the workhorse in the backfield, and that shouldn't change in 2026. Tank Bigsby is there too, and he could maybe carve out a role with Brown no longer around, and if rookies like Lemon or Stowers don't make big impacts right away.

The offense takes a slight hit in the real world, but there's enough talent in place to effectively replace the void left after the Brown trade. Maybe the Brown trade actually turns into a positive for the offense in 2026.

In fantasy football, it opens the door for other pass catchers and offensive players to have bigger roles. I like the outlooks for Smith, Lemon, Goedert, Stowers and Barkley, and guys like Bigsby, Wicks and others could also factor in here and there.

Just like I'll be watching the Patriots' ADPs in the days/weeks/months to come, I'll be doing the same for the players in Philadelphia. Don't let this trade hurt your opinion on the Eagles' offense, because it hasn't been anything special in the past even with Brown - maybe those rumors that he was holding things back are true and the unit breaks out in 2026.

We'll have to wait and see on all that. Just know that anytime breaking news hits, FantasySP will get things covered as soon as possible, so keep checking back with us as the 2026 regular season starts getting closer.
