Rams, Browns Make Massive Trade

The Los Angeles Rams made a major splash on Monday, acquiring Myles Garrett from Cleveland. In return, the Browns will get Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round selection and a 2029 third-round pick.

Garrett is 30 years old and has played nine years in the NFL. Over 134 games, he has racked up 125.5 sacks and 412 combined tackles.

Garrett has 23 forced fumbles, 18 passes defensed and six fumbles recovered. He has 239 quarterback hits so far, with 149 tackles going for losses.

He had 23 sacks last season, and has been in double digits in every season since his rookie year. Garrett is one of the best defensive players in the league, and transforms the Rams' defense immediately.

Verse is an up-and-coming pass rusher, and is a decent return for Cleveland. The picks help make up some of the difference between Garrett and Verse.

Verse is 25 years old and has two years of NFL play under his belt. In 34 games, Verse has 12 sacks among his 124 combined tackles. He also has three passes defensed, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 22 tackles for losses and 45 quarterback hits.

Garrett will now lead the pass rusher group for the Rams. Losing Verse hurts, but there's more than enough talent around. Braden Fiske, Poona Ford and Kobie Turner are the projected defensive linemen, while Byron Young is another pass-rushing linebacker. Nate Landman and Omar Speights are the middle linebackers.

LA added Jaylen Watson and Trent McDuffie at cornerback this offseason. Quentin Lake is the projected nickelback. Kam Curl and Kamren Kinchens are the projected safeties.

There's enough talent on that Rams' defense that the unit should be able to be at least above average in 2026. LA is definitely going for it this year, and Garrett aids in the team's Super Bowl chase.

I love this move for the Rams, and think Garrett will thrive there, just like he did in Cleveland. I expect Garrett to be a high-level IDP asset, so expect him to be one of the top-rostered IDPs in the league again.

For those not in IDP leagues, the Rams DST is going to be a fantasy force in 2026. They will be one of the best fantasy options in the league after the addition of Garrett.

As for the Browns, swapping Verse for Garrett is a downgrade now, but it helps the team in the long run. Verse is several years younger, and will be in the league longer, so I don't hate the deal for Cleveland.

Alex Wright, Maliek Collins and Mason Graham are the other projected d-linemen alongside Verse. Quincy Williams and Carson Schwesinger are the linebackers. Denzel Ward, Tyson Campbell and Myles Harden are the cornerbacks, while Grant Delpit and Ronnie Hickman are the safeties.

There's not a lot of big names on the defense, but Verse adds a notable body to the mix. The Cleveland defense should be pretty good again, even if the team struggles overall.

Verse might not be as great an IDP option on his new team, but I still expect Verse to be a good fantasy asset. The Browns DST will be a sneaky-good fantasy asset again, so don't overlook them, even down Garrett now.

Giants Add Three Wideouts

New York signed Odell Beckham, Braxton Berrios and JuJu Smith-Schuster on Monday.

The Giants have already had a few injuries in camp, and one was Gunner Olszewski, a wideout. Adding Beckham, Berrios and Smith-Schuster gives the team some much-needed depth going into the 2026 season.

Beckham hasn't played in the NFL since 2024. His best years in the NFL came with the Giants, so this is a really fun story, at the very least.

Berrios has been in the NFL since 2019, but only logged 10 games played over the past two years. He's played for three teams already, and is joining his fourth now.

Smith-Schuster has played in the league since 2017, playing 121 games in that span. He hasn't done much over the past three years, but he's a veteran option at the very least.

The Giants are led by Malik Nabers, who is coming off a major injury. There's been talk about his recovery, so the wide receiver signings make a little more sense for that reason.

New York also has Darius Slayton, Calvin Austin III, Malachi Fields, Darnell Mooney, Jalin Hyatt, Isaiah Hodgins and more as other wideouts on the team.

Nabers is the top fantasy wideout on the team, but his injury is concerning in the long haul. Adding the three wide receivers to the mix is a smart move in the real world, but it's unlikely to have much fantasy relevance.

I don't see any of the three signed receivers doing too much, unless the Giants are truly decimated by injuries. Nabers is going to do most of the heavy lifting, leaving everyone else as deep-league fantasy options only.

It doesn't impact quarterback Jaxson Dart too much, or running backs Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy Jr. or Devin Singletary. Tight ends Isaiah Likely and Theo Johnson have a bit more competition for targets, but at a different position, still shouldn't have their roles impacted too much.

So again, the moves make headlines and help the team and its depth in the real world, but there's not likely any fantasy winners out of all the wide receiver signings.
