Week 2 Fantasy Football Tight Ends Waiver Targets: Juwan Johnson, Harold Fannin and More
Looking over some fantasy football waiver wire targets at tight end going into week 2.
We have another week 1 game on Monday night, but for those looking to get a jump on the waiver wire going into week 2, this is the place you want to be.
We'll check out some tight end waiver wire options here. Also be sure to check out the waiver wire article for wide receivers.

Should You Add Juwan Johnson?
Johnson is rostered in just 2% of fantasy leagues right now.
All he did in week 1 was post the highest PPR fantasy score for a tight end (heading into the Monday night game).
Johnson turned in a big game despite the Saints losing to the Cardinals in week 1. The tight end was targeted 11 times, making 11 grabs for 76 yards. He had a long reception of 21 yards.
He's had some fantasy success in the past, but has never really broken out. The Saints have a need for playmakers, and with swiss-army knife Taysom Hill out for several more weeks yet, Johnson has a great outlook moving forward.
Don't expect him to be this productive every single week, but he is most definitely a good waiver wire pickup going into week 2. I like adding him in most deeper leagues. I am not quite to the point where I'd add him in standard leagues, at least to be a starter - he's an OK backup option to stash in case he does breakout this season.
Johnson has a stiffer test against the Niners in week 2. San Fran allowed two catches for seven yards on three targets to tight ends in week 1.
If Johnson delivers against the Niners too, then he'll be a big standard league waiver pickup too.
Should You Add Dalton Kincaid?
Kincaid is rostered in 85% of fantasy leagues.
He went for 48 yards and a touchdown on four catches and targets in Buffalo's thrilling week 1 win over the Ravens.
Kincaid had a nice rookie season, but regressed a bit in 2024. Buffalo should be a top-end offense, and with no clear No. 1 passing target yet, Kincaid has a chance to shine moving forward.
I'm not completely sold on him yet, but he'll definitely be added in some leagues this week, and maybe get close to 100%.
Kincaid has a nice matchup in week 2 against the Jets, who allowed 43 yards and a score on eight catches and nine targets in week 1.
He'll be a good starting option for that contest, and if he delivers there, could really be on the rise going into week 3.
Should You Add Harold Fannin Jr.?
Fannin is at just 1% rostered.
The rookie might have been the biggest TE surprise in week 1. He went for 63 yards on seven receptions and nine targets against the Bengals.
Fannin is the No. 2 TE to David Njoku in Cleveland, but that didn't matter on Sunday. With only Jerry Jeudy and Njoku as established pass catchers, Fannin could definitely keep factoring in moving forward.
It's tough to want to take on a team's second TE, especially a team like the Browns, who aren't expected to be that good. Throw in that a quarterback change could completely flip things on their head and Fannin is a scary waiver wire option.
He's lined up for success again in week 2, as the Browns take on the Ravens. Baltimore allowed 97 yards and a score on seven catches and targets overall to TEs, so maybe Njoku and Fannin could deliver this coming week.
Fannin seems like a better streaming option in my eyes, and for that reason, I only like adding him in deeper leagues going into week 2. He's a player to keep an eye on, but I need more proof of him being a good fantasy asset to want to add him in a standard league.
Should You Add Kyle Pitts Sr.?
Pitts is owned in 77% of fantasy leagues at the time of publication.
Pitts got his season off to a strong start after tallying 59 yards on seven catches and eight targets. His longest reception was 14 yards.
Pitts was great in his rookie season, but hasn't been close to that level of fantasy asset in the three years since. He's mostly just been a streaming option.
Atlanta still really only has one proven pass catcher (Drake London) in place, and London is banged up heading into week 2. That makes Pitts a really good waiver wire option.
He'll take on the Vikings in week 2. Minnesota plays on Monday night, so be watching Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet if you are thinking about adding Pitts for week 2.
I think Pitts is worth a gamble in leagues he's available in, unless you are set at tight end. Even so, adding and stashing him could give you a trade chip if he puts together a couple more strong showings.
Should You Add Noah Fant?
Fant sits at just 1% owned right now.
Fant didn't accomplish a ton in week 1, but he did find the end zone. He went for 26 yards on four catches and five targets.
He was a bit of a surprise signing by the Bengals this year. Former top TE Mike Gesicki had three targets on Sunday, making one catch for 14 yards.
Of the 52 offensive plays Cincy had, Fant played 26 of them. Gesicki only took the field for 16 snaps.
I think that shows that Fant is going to be the lead tight end, at least to open the season. That gives him the edge over Gesicki on the fantasy landscape.
Despite everything I just said, Fant is just a deep-league fantasy option at this point. Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are going to dominate the targets in time, and not much will be left over for anyone else.
Only add Fant in deeper fantasy setups. He has a tougher test in week 2 against Jacksonville, which allowed three catches for 29 yards over four targets to tight ends in week 1.
Should You Add Jonnu Smith?
Smith is owned in 32% of fantasy leagues.
Smith also didn't do a whole lot in week 1, but he too found the end zone to deliver a nice fantasy score. He had 15 yards on five catches and six targets.
He's coming off a monster season in Miami, but joined a new-look Steelers' roster with tight end Pat Freiermuth already on the roster.
Smith was clearly TE1 on Sunday against the Jets though, playing 37 of the team's 56 offensive snaps. Freiermuth was at 28 snaps still, while Darnell Washington logged 26 snaps.
I have a feeling Pittsburgh might be playing its tight ends a bunch in 2025. That makes sense with the receiver options the team has outside DK Metcalf.
Anyways, Smith was a bit underrated in my eyes coming into the season. Pittsburgh wasn't going to trade for him then not utilize him on offense.
I still believe Smith could turn into the team's No. 2 pass-catching threat over time. Even if a guy like Calvin Austin III steps up, Smith is still a really good No. 3 option.
He'll get a nice bump to his own percentage going into week 2. I'd be happy to give him an add in deeper leagues after what we saw from him in week 1. He'll be a solid starting option in those leagues the rest of the season.
I'm not fully in on adding him in standard leagues, but as a secondary option, I don't hate picking him up. He's also a fantastic streaming option for week 2 against the Seahawks, who have allowed the most fantasy points to TEs so far. Seattle allowed TEs to go for 44 yards and two scores on eight receptions and targets in week 1.
