Massive Extension Secures Role, but Low Volume Caps Fantasy Appeal

Washington solidified his long-term future in Pittsburgh with a four-year contract extension, entering the season atop the tight end depth chart alongside Pat Freiermuth. While his massive frame makes him an elite blocker and red-zone asset for Aaron Rodgers, his volume remains modest after posting 33 receptions for 386 yards last season.

Fantasy drafters have shown little appetite for his profile in 1.0 PPR formats, causing his ADP to crater from around 284 in late July down past pick 630. Our projections align with that market skepticism, expecting 31 receptions, 332 receiving yards, and two touchdowns (75.2 fantasy points).

With Aaron Rodgers distributing passes to DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr., Washington lacks the consistent weekly target volume for standard fantasy relevance. He remains strictly a touchdown-dependent depth stash suited for deep leagues and multi-TE formats.
