Week 9 Fantasy Football Streamers: Mecole Hardman & Devin Duvernay Emerge As Sneaky Starts
Injuries, bye weeks, and benchings will leave your fantasy team short-handed this week and almost every other for the remainder of the season. There are a lot of changes this week with six teams on a bye and an eventful trade deadline. You’re going to have to go to the waiver wire and find some players to get you through the week. These are guys you can stream with confidence in Week 9.
Quarterbacks
Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars
After a promising start to the season, Lawrence has likely been cast to waivers after struggling mightily over the past five weeks. However, his schedule has been nothing short of a gauntlet during his struggles. He’s taken on the Broncos, Eagles, Colts, and Giants to go along with the Texans. Somewhat surprisingly, the Texans who seem like the one layup are actually allowing the third-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. He should get back on his feet this week against the Raiders who are allowing the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks and have been lit up by everyone from Davis Mills to Andy Dalton.
Justin Fields, Chicago Bears
Fields comes with a lot of risks and a ton of upside. You should grab him if you are in a tough matchup and need the high ceiling this week. While the passing yardage isn’t where you’d like it to be over the past three weeks he has topped 150 yards in every game and thrown four touchdowns and just two interceptions. More importantly, during that three-game span, he has rushed for 230 yards and two TDs. He takes on Miami this week who is allowing the ninth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterback. They have also allowed 192 rushing yards to QBs which is the fifth-most in the league. If this offense continues to come together Fields could have a big day in a game the Bears will likely be playing catchup in.
Running Backs
Ronnie Rivers, Las Angeles Rams
With all the teams on byes this week it will be tough to find a decent streaming option on the wire. You will not have a ton of confidence while streaming Rivers, but he did lead the Rams backfield last week. He handled eight carries and four receptions compared to Darrell Henderson’s four carries and two receptions. This will be a terrifying start, but sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures.

Jeff Wilson, Miami Dolphins
With Christian McCaffrey now in San Francisco and Elijah Mitchell on his way back from injury, many fantasy owners have cast aside Wilson. Fortunately for you, he was traded to the Dolphins this week and is fully expected to suit up and contribute. It’s always risky starting a player the same week as a trade, but this situation is a little bit different. He had spent the last few years with Dolphins’ head coach Mike McDaniel as his offensive coordinator in San Francisco. So, he is better equipped to step in and have an immediate impact. Odds are he’ll be in a split-back system with Raheem Mostert, but it’ll be tough to find a better option on waivers this week.

Wide Receivers
Mecole Hardman, Kansas City Chiefs
Before you say gross and exit out of the article take a look at Hardman’s production as of late. Over the past three games, he’s seen four targets in every game and has hit either the 70-yard mark or scored a TD in each of them. He has bust potential, however, he’s only given you two disastrous games this season. Plus, he has plenty of upside with Patrick Mahomes as his quarterback. Especially this week against the Titans who are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points against wideouts and are the toughest team in the league to run on.
Devin Duvernay, Baltimore Ravens
This is a simple case of a potentially massive opportunity for targets this week. We already know Rashod Bateman will be sidelined and there is a good chance Mark Andrews can’t go either. If that is the case, Duvernay could be Lamar Jackson’s top target in this game. Last week after Bateman went down, Duvernay caught four passes for 31 yards and rushed for 33 yards and a TD. If you need a WR this week go pick him up immediately.
Tight Ends
Will Dissly, Seattle Seahawks
Dissly takes on the Cardinals this week who get torched by tight ends week after week. They are allowing the second-most fantasy points to tight ends and the only reason they aren’t allowing the most is that Taysom Hill ran for 112 yards and three TDs against the Seahawks. The Cards have already allowed seven TDs to TEs which is the most in the league and 568 receiving yards which is the second most in the league. Stream a Seahawks tight end this week. Noah Fant is also an option if you prefer him. We prefer Dissly.
Isaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens
Likely has a tough matchup this week against the Saints, but it’s hard to ignore what we saw last week once Andrews went down with a shoulder injury. He became Lamar’s top target catching six of seven targets for 77 yards and a TD. If Andrews is out, Likely is the perfect fill-in for him. However, if you don’t have Andrews, Likely does play on Monday night and Andrews could be a game-time decision. If that is the case and you get stuck holding the bag, Juwan Johnson is a potential pivot option.
