Deep Depth Chart Squeeze Sends Draft Stock Plummeting Into Irrelevance
Trey Benson enters his third NFL season buried on the Arizona Cardinals' running back depth chart. He is currently listed behind Jeremiyah Love, Tyler Allgeier, and veteran James Conner. Despite showing an efficient 5.5 yards per carry across a very limited four-game sample last season, Benson is facing a steep uphill battle for touches in this crowded backfield committee.
This severe lack of projected volume has caused Benson's fantasy market value to absolutely crater. His draft stock has plummeted from a mid-round cost around 178 overall in late May to a nearly undrafted ADP of 290.00 as of July. Fantasy managers are rapidly abandoning him, and his rostered rate has steadily slipped to 43% over the past month.
Our projections reflect this bleak reality, forecasting a meager 12 rushes for 52 yards and two receptions on the year, totaling just 12.3 fantasy points. Even in full PPR formats, Benson is nothing more than a deep dynasty stash or waiver-wire watch list candidate who needs multiple injuries ahead of him to find any fantasy relevance.
