Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: 4 Hitters Heating Up, Including Saggese and Jensen

Thomas Saggese - St. Louis Cardinals

Saggese is rostered in only 0.55% of fantasy baseball leagues right now, but he's starting to trend up a bit.

Saggese has a three-game hitting streak going, and at least two hits in each of those contests. He was called back up to the big leagues in late August, and has done nothing but rack up hits since. 

Saggese has seven hits and a walk over the past three contests. He's drove in six runs, homered three times and scored seven runs. It's an unsustainable run he's on, but it's hard to deny that he's a high-level fantasy hitter right now.

At this point of the fantasy season, you should be all about getting the hottest hitters on your team and in your lineup. Saggese is one of those guys right now.

He definitely needs to be added in more deeper leagues. Saggese being able to play all over the field makes him an even better fantasy asset, and means he should be able to start daily if he keeps hitting. Roll with him until he cools off a bit. 

Carter Jensen - Kansas City Royals

Jensen is back on the rise after falling in own percentage the past couple weeks. He's owned in 64.09% of leagues at the moment.

He also has a three-game hitting streak going, with five hits over that stretch. Jensen had two homers on Wednesday, and has three RBIs, two runs scored, two walks and three stolen bases over that stretch as well.

Jensen has just a .226 average on the season, but a .313 on-base percentage helps make up for that mark. Over 130 games and 521 plate appearances, Jensen also has 103 hits, including 21 home runs, 26 doubles and a triple. He has 64 RBIs, 63 runs scored, 58 walks, two stolen bases and 148 strikeouts as well.

Jensen is a catcher, but he plays pretty regularly thanks to the designated hitter spot. When he's hitting daily, the Royals have no issues starting him every day.

He's been a good deep-league asset most of the season, and in hotter stretches like now, he can be utilized in some standard leagues too. Again, roll with him until his bat cools off a bit.

Javier Sanoja - Miami Marlins

Sanoja has been picked up in 1.83% of fantasy leagues today, which brings his overall mark to 32.22%

Sanoja has seven hits over a three-game hitting streak he's riding right now. He has a homer among the hits, plus two RBIs, three runs scored and just one strikeout.

He is now hitting .287 and getting on base at a .326 clip over 122 contests and 397 plate appearances this season. Sanoja has 28 doubles, seven home runs and two triples among his 107 total hits, plus has produced 53 RBIs, 37 runs scored, 22 walks, nine stolen bases and just 33 strikeouts.

He too plays all over the field, so his fantasy value is higher than you might originally think. Sanoja isn't a big power threat, but a bunch of hits and low strikeout marks still make him a solid fantasy asset.

Sanoja is a pretty solid deep-league asset at this point, and he could also be worth trying in standard leagues for those desperate for a few more fantasy points. Ride with him until the production dips.

Bryce Eldridge - San Francisco Giants

Eldridge continues to rise as a fantasy asset, currently sitting at 35.91%. He was at 20.5% back on August 27.

Eldridge has a four-game hitting streak rolling right now. He has eight knocks over that span, including one double. Eldridge has seven RBIs, a run scored, three walks and three strikeouts in that stretch.

The primary first baseman is hitting .263 and getting on base at a .356 clip over 94 games and 390 plate appearances so far this season. Eldridge has 89 total knocks, plus 45 RBIs, 44 runs scored, 50 walks, a stolen base and 102 strikeouts. Among his hits, he has 18 doubles and 15 homers.

He's playing regularly for the Giants, and while the team/offense is struggling overall, Eldridge is still worth some fantasy utilization. I like him in deeper leagues, but he also could be worth trying in standard leagues, especially if you need first base help.
