Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Best Starting Pitcher Streamers for Tuesday

The trade deadline has passed, and we are now officially approaching the final stretch of the season. There are still two months left, but the deadline is a timestamp that shows that the year is coming to an end, so it's time to start paying attention (kind of; you still have time if you're not fully invested yet).

Moving to fantasy baseball, let's look at four starting pitchers in action on Tuesday who have good matchups and are widely available in fantasy leagues. Most stats are from MLB.com, as are the probable pitchers. The full streamer rankings are listed at the bottom.

Joey Cantillo, Cleveland Guardians vs. New York Mets

We'll start today with a game in which we can target both teams with streaming pitchers. The Guardians have been bad offensively all season; they started on our target list because of a poor performance last year, and they have continued at a clear bottom-10 level in 2026. Big things were expected of the Mets given their huge payroll, but they have undoubtedly been one of the biggest disappointments of the season, and they fit squarely on our target list, particularly with their recent struggles after a short uptick. They sold at the deadline, proving this as a season to forget.

Cantillo has good numbers in most areas, walking a few too many guys but also holding an above-average strikeout rate. He has been average or better at limiting hits, runs, and home runs, the same story throughout his career. Cantillo is a fine pitcher to add to your fantasy roster when the matchups are right.

Manaea has been working as a reliever, starter, and bulk pitcher taking over after an opener. His numbers have been OK, striking batters out at a decent rate and otherwise looking average or a little worse. He's not much of a fantasy performer, but you could also find worse, making Manaea a decent player to consider when the matchup is right.

Cantillo is a mid-level streamer and Manaea a low-to-mid-level streamer. The former is a much better pitcher right now and has upside, while the latter has a few decent numbers but hasn't been even an average pitcher overall in a few years.

J.T. Ginn, Athletics @ Cincinnati Reds

Ginn hasn't pitched since July 18, sitting out with a blister in the meantime. He has been good limiting hits, runs, and home runs and racking up strikeouts, but Ginn has walked a few too many guys, the only box stat where he fails. That still leaves him as an intriguing fantasy player, but on a nondescript team, Ginn doesn't have the same fanfare as some other guys.

Cincinnati has times when they look like a risky team to target; they rank in the top eight in both home runs and walks, a great way to manufacture runs. The rest of their numbers pale in comparison, though, including sitting in the bottom five in runs, hits, and batting average. We love pitchers who strike batters out here on our streaming list, so naturally, we also love teams that strike out a lot. The Reds fit squarely into that category, striking out at a top-three rate. There's a nice ceiling on any given day against Cincinnati.

Ginn is a mid-level streamer. He has been fine, and we can say the same about the matchup, but everything is mostly middling overall; that's fine, particularly if you're in a deeper league.

Hayden Wesneski, Houston Astros vs. Toronto Blue Jays

Toronto wasn't bad all season on offense, having stretches when they hit the ball well. They have shown zero power, though, ranking in the bottom five in home runs, slugging percentage, and OPS. They are in the middle in doubles, but the Blue Jays have hit the fewest triples (a stat that I admittedly don't put a lot of stock into because the difference between the top and bottom is less than 20). They don't strike out much, but they also don't draw many walks, and Toronto has scored the fewest runs in the league.

Wesneski missed over a year recovering from Tommy John surgery, making his season debut last Wednesday. He has mostly been good in his short career, doing well with walks, strikeouts, and limiting hitters, but he has thrown less than 40 innings over the past two seasons. While there's a chance for Wesneski to be at least an average pitcher, it's tough to project anything for a guy just returning after such a long layoff, so the risk here is fairly large.

Wesneski is a low-to-mid-level streamer. The matchup is right, and he has been good when on the mound, but Wesneski is back after missing around 14 months, so fantasy owners must show a little temperance with their expectations.
